Honestly, I was going to leave a 3 star review but after seeing what my stylist posted on…read moreinstagram, I decided on a 1 star review. I came in with self-dyed hair in a color I liked. However, I was unable to keep up with dyeing the roots, so I decided to go back to a more natural color- a cool-toned brown. However, my stylist, Abbie ended up dyeing my hair straight up black (even another stylist agreed), which required her to strip the color 2-3 times. Most of this was done in the sink, which also happened to be the most uncomfortable salon sink. Anyways, I find out that Abbie posts about my "before" hair with quite the ratty comment which was completely unnecessary. No wonder she didn't tag me despite asking for my handle. She also failed to mention that she had to strip my hair three times, leaving it in a worse texture than before, despite telling me it wouldn't cause any damage. I was considering returning, but the professionalism is basically non-existent, so I'd rather not. Salon 241 is a better choice if you can spend more $.

Even despite the fact that I was about…read more15 min late for my appointment (did not know about the bridge construction going on) Stephen still took me in, and did a great job on my haircut even with the limited time. I am rarely ever content with the results of my haircuts, because I always feel like stylists insensitively cut off too much without talking to me about it first but Stephen was so considerate and professional... not only did he listen to what I wanted, he also made a point to double check that I was okay with the length he was about to take off, before making the cut. It had been awhile since my last trim / cut and my ends were very split and my hair was snarly and damaged from bleaching it several times over the past few months... But thanks to Stephen, it actually feels incredibly soft, the split ends are all gone and it feels thick and healthy... like he actually brought it back to life.... I'm so happy with it. Will definitely be coming back again!

But after a stylist at the Aveda salon in Amherst gave me a pixie cut best described as "Suitable for the fraternal twin sister of Frankenstein's Monster," I left a message on their machine and wished for the best. Well wouldn't you know, wishes DO come true. They called me back, we set an appointment, and I've been getting consistently fabulous haircuts from Jen for almost a year now. Chameleon's is really the best of all worlds. You get attentive, precise, efficient, consistent, million-dollar service, but without any the pomp and pretentiousness of a high-end salon. And did I mention that their mirrors are impossibly clean? SO. CLEAN. I suspect they might actually be portals to other side of a blackhole. (Don't lean in too close.)

Sheri NAILED it. All of it. I'm beyond pleased. She took 4 hours with me and transformed my dull hair into a cascade of flowing pink and golden locks that would make a unicorn proud. I'm obsessed and I've already gotten a ton of compliments. I came from San Francisco where I've been getting my hair done and Sheri is definitely as talented or more than the big city stylists there that charge twice as much. I definitely will come in to see her next time I'm visiting my parents in the area. I'll add photos but they really can't do it justice. Just go in! They know how to cut along my hairline and natural cowlicks so the cut will fit me and not be uneven as it starts to grow back. They also helped me out finding the proper shampoo for my hair type. I had been using dollar store shampoo which had actually been damaging my hair. I would definitely recommend getting a haircut here before any kind of job interview or wedding.

Elise Hamilton is one of the best in her field! She has been my cutter (is that even a a salon…read moreterm?!) and colorist for well over a decade now and i have followed her religiously throughout the Pioneer Valley. She's very hip and does an amazing job w/short edgy cuts. If you want to get risky with a cut and color she's happy to take you there. (While still making you and your hair look great!) What makes her such a pro is that she listens to what the client wants while taking into consideration their features and lifestyle and what would work best for them. She works hard to incorporate all of these elements into your cut/ color b/c Elise knows giving an amazing haircut is only half the battle. She understands the real challenge is making the cut easy for the client to maintain and looking good once they walk out the door. This is what makes Elise such a stand out in her field and invaluable stylist. So I recently decided to give Hue Pepin's shop a try. As Hue was recommended to me by a friend, I was a bit nervous when I was welcomed by another barber (I think his name is Lucas?). However, after showing some pics and describing how I like my haircut, this personable and pleasant young man meticulously proceeded, cutting my hair to my complete satisfaction. I'm so glad I decided to give him a shot at it, and I look forward to going back, optimistic that he will be able to consistently cut my hair the way he did the first time.
