My mum agreed and she even said that it's gone downhill, but that may be because we arrived around 8pm and they usually shut quite early. The fish wasn't bad but the batter wasn't as light as I would like it, and the mushy peas tasted a bit bitter. the chips were nice, but I have a habit of not finishing my chips but if anything, that was the best part of the dish. We got a medium haddock and medium cod and shared a medium order of chips. The fish wasn't ready and they explicitly asked us if we were okay waiting for 10 min while they would fry it. If we didn't want to, we could have a large instead. We waited and it was less than 10 min. The fish was obviously fresh (it's caught in the North Atlantic) and the frying was crisp and fresh. There's vinegar and Salt on the tables for you. The best part was the curry sauce. I looked to see if it would be possible to buy, though that would be ridiculous to take across the pond. It's a family run business and everyone is so friendly yet quick. It's very much a local favorite- I'm pretty sure we were the only tourists. They have a lot other than fish, including burgers and battered mars bar. I am so glad we came here- the other place we were supposed to go to had run out of fish and chips and I know this place was better.
