Being from SoCal the style of pizza up here is different, not being a fan of mountain Mike, round table, etc. This being close to home I decide to try it and let me tell you they did not disappoint. The sauce, the cheese the thickness of the pizza. I taste as good as when I was a kid, like if I reached into the ninja turtles cartoon show from the 90s and got to try the pizza finally. Wow this pizza is so good! We ordered a large pizza half pepperoni half cheese pizza only took 10 minutes and it was flavorful pizza and the ranch was good too but honestly the pizza alone was great. Large, Cheesy, very reasonable and just about every combination you could possibly think of! - It doesn't stop there. Their "Twists" are to die for - (my favorite is (bacon & cheese - yummy! -& plenty of bacon) "Wings" - hubby LOVED them! Just tonite, he tried one of the "Calzones" - the Classic with wedge potatoes - in his words "Another hit." I always start my Pizza reviews with the disclaimer that I am an East Coast Pizza snob, so it takes a lot to impress me. That being said, this is a new place that sells a good, solid West Coast Pizza. The crust is not too thick, but isn't the texture of good NY pizza. The sauce is a highlight, it tastes good and shines through the other layers. The all-meat toppings are all pretty good and cooked well. It seemed to be a little light in the cheese department, and adding Parmesan did seem to help the general balance. We had a pizza cookie for dessert and it was pretty darn good. Overall, it is better than many Pizza joints here in Salinas, but it's still not the gold standard. 6/10, probably will return until Salinas has a real NY pizza place. read more

honestly was some of the best pizza i've had in a while. my partner and i found this local pizza joint on a whim and stopped by-delicious garlic twists and amazing meat pizza. the worker there was also super nice and brought us our food quickly. the restaurant itself was empty and looked a bit dated, but the food made up for this and after eating, i could care less about the aesthetics. read more

Spent the weekend in Old Town Salinas and alot of places were closed by 5. Me and my girlfriend were looking for a pizza joint to enjoy and this spot was just what we wanted ! We got the appetizer sampler which came with hot wings(we got mango habanero spicy but yummy), cheesy garlic knots and potato wedges. We also got a medium pizza pepperoni and sausage and pineapple with chicken. Service was quick and easy we got our food within 15 minutes the gentleman who served us was incredibly kind and offered suggestions. The space was a run of the mill pizza joint with a racing game and claw machine on the other side. Overall great spot opens late and great food definitely coming back ! read more

Used to order pizza here when it was Straw Hat, and was sad when it closed up. It may not look like much on the outside, but Salinas Pizza House makes a really good pie, and not too expensive for the quality. We ordered an Aloha and Garlic Chicken. Family was very happy, crust had nice flavor and was soft, and they did not skimp on the toppings (which will keep me from ordering again if the toppings are mid or slim). We went to try out the pizza during g their lunch buffet. There was only 1 pizza out and 1 order of garlic cheese sticks. The food was warm but wasn't great, the music was too loud. It almost looked like an abandoned place since there was only 1 worker who was in the back the whole time. I went to get some more soda and when I opened my cup there were about 10 ants crawling in my cup. I checked my cousins cup because she and I got coke and there was a dead ant in her cup as well. I went to this place to check out what replaced Straw Hat with high hopes. Unfortunately it couldn't even reach standard quality for our order. We ordered a large double pepperoni pizza which as another reviewer pointed out, was way overpriced. There were so many issues beyond that, though. First off, there was just a standard amount of pepperoni after paying for extra, the sauce was school cafeteria quality, and most egregious for me, the cheese was undercooked. Awful pizza quality. My partner also noticed that there were bugs crawling all over the counter, so add unsanitary on top of the food issues. Usually I don't let a bad food experience completely sour me on the place. Everyone can have an off night, after all. This time though, it was so thoroughly bad, that I would only consider returning to see if the sides held up any better. Steer clear of this place, and just go to any of the other numerous pizza places in the area. read more

I did a search to see who was open near me. and choose the address of the former Straw-hat Pizza. I had not been aware thet it had moved to where the Salinas Pizza & Pints used to be. This was my favorite and had not had any Pizza since it closed. So, I wound up at pizza house not paying attention that it was no longer Straw-hat. I ordered my Pizza and took it home. Straw Hat was my mother's favorite, so I was familiar with what I was expecting this one to taste. Well, was I wrong. This one was really good. In fact, one of the best, I remember tasting. When I wanted another one, I went online to the Straw-hat, thinking that is where I had been. When I found out I was wrong, and it had moved. So, I had to pick up the Straw-hat.
