WORST PLACE EVER! I CASHED OUT FOR A DEFECTIVE BIKE! 10,000 GONE TO SHIT. If I could give it negative stars I definitely would!! Not even a week after buying my bike it had a rough idle. I call them. They tell me to bring it in. The mechanic "checks it" and he tells me there is nothing he can find, that he checked everything, ummm okay. I decide to take it to a local shop and the bike is completely intact never messed with not touched or checked once. IT WAS THE SPARK PLUGS ALL ALONG.. Mind you I clearly asked if the oil spark plugs and regular maintenance was up to date before buying and they said yes. Worst place don't waste your money or time. This place is garbage. I've been wanting to write a review on this place for some time and never got around to it. I was in there a while back looking for my first street bike and they do have a hand full to choose from. A few problems though.. Most, if not all of their cruisers are trade-ins. Since the bikes they have are used and then traded in, they are a little beat up and worn down, and they expect you to be ok with that. There's even one that was obviously low sided and just sitting there with the rest of them like someone's really going to go for that! ESPECIALLY at that price! That puts this place in a nutshell, but I'll continue. They have a bunch of ninjas if you're into that, i'm not... but don't seem to have any new cruisers. They do have a wide selection of other Motorsports like ATV's, Mules, sports bikes, dirt bikes, scooters, wave runners... but I wasn't in there for all that. There's sort of a dark funk in there.. a bad energy... an air of desperation and demise. Well I actually found a bike I liked and made an offer.. Since this bike needs some attention, like new tires, registration was expired, and a couple of minor stuff, I asked for $1,000 less than sticker price.. or the "sale price" I was assured.. The "sale price" just also happens to be WELL OVER the Kelly Blue Book trade-in and retail value. Very long story short they said no. Ok.. no prob. wasn't meant to be. One week later I got a call from them and they wanted to know if I was still interested in the bike, and they were now willing to "let it go" for my price. Sorry! Found a much BETTER, bigger bike for $3,000 CHEAPER on CRAIGSLIST, and it doesn't have any problems! Have a nice day. Wow am I glad they said no originally because I would've been stuck with that inferior bike, and would've had to put more money into it! I thought about that recently and thank you guys for dropping the ball! They must think they're the only bike shop around or something. Also on Craigslist you can buy used bikes for cheaper, and in usually better shape because that's the only bike that person is selling. It won't sell well if it's beat up or needs work/service at the blue book price. Nobody is going to fix up something before trading it in, and that's the whole point! Additionally, when you compare Kelly Blue Book trade-in value, to retail value.. the audacity to ask for more than retail value on a beat up trade-in is ridiculous! If you're in the market for a new motorcycle check out Seaside Motorsports for the best selection of new NON Harleys, (I personally love Triumph motorcycles and dislike Harleys) or Indian Motorsports in Hollister for a great selection of Indian and Victory motorcycles.. or shop Craigslist for a good deal on a used one. A few months ago I purchased a motorcycle from here and all of my information was handed over to local law enforcement claiming me to be a runaway rider because I purchased a similar bike from Salinas Motorcycle Center. I called Salinas Motorcycle Center early this morning, Sunday and left a message. A very nice man who's name is John returned my call an hour later. We spoke of the current challenging times for both, businesses and people like me, customers in general. My truck was recently stolen and I am struggling to get to work. I need to wake up before 5am and take several busses to get to work in a cemetery in Salinas, CA. Just riding the bus to go to work and get back to my place in Monterey takes about 5 hours. John and I started on the right foot. He listened and was very understanding. After our chat on the phone I felt that I am closer to solve my transportation problem. I might have a chance to both save my job, and build a great business relationship with a company who really cares about people and is willing to be creative to keep their business afloat while succeeding on providing valuable customer service. I'm absolutely appalled at the ridiculously poor level of customer service here at this store. I am very interested in buying my first bike and wanted a chance to check out the show room and have a salesman show me bikes within my experience range. I called in this morning asking for an appointment and the gentleman who answered the phone completely refused me and told me if i wanted to check out a bike please inquire on the website. I understand full that a website is available but what i wanted was to have the full experience and have a knowledgeable salesman showcase floor models to me. I was told that i would not be allowed into the showroom unless I committed to buy. I explained how can i commit to buy if I havent even held or seen the bike in person to which he hung up on me. I'm amazed that a establishment such as this that serves the Salinas area in selling hobbyists toys of all kinds conducts itself in such a manner of complete disregard to paying customers. Garbage, I spent $6500 on an SRU 170 side by side that all but fell apart on the first ride. None of the bolts have locktite. One of the lights broke in half on the first ride. SSR makes crap (DON'T BUY IT) and if you do buy one of the dirt bike, Don't buy it from this horrible shop. Very bad experience with customer service, I bought a mini XRS trail master for my 5-year-old son. Within 5 hours of use with in a week it it started making a grinding noise.Took it back for repairs they returned it to me within a week. After another couple of hours of use within 3 months it started making the same grinding noise I went in and talked to the supervisor , he he stated it was out of warranty on the job that they had performed. (was never informed to me verbally or on paper on 90 day warranty) so he wanted to charge me right there and then $220 dollars for labor and for the part that supposedly they had replaced. And at the same time he was trying to make a sale, to upgrade or to get something else inreplacement I told him I was willing to pay for the labor but not for the part that they had just replaced. So at the end he refused service to me. I Contacted the manufacturer and they said that that grinding nois is common on those models they advised me just to lubricate the clutch ..problem solved! I bought a new kawaski and when finishing the deal they had mentioned first service bring it back here for their recommened 1000 miles actual first service but from kawaski its 600. Authorized kawaski dealer, it kind of makes you wonder but my point is that the store would comp the first service because I am almost 3 hours away and of course that didn't happen. I wished that i read the reviews before heading to our "appointment" to buy Kawasaki SX Mule FI (and I usually read review), it would've save me time and aggravation. The listed price on their website is $8600, so we figured taxes and some small fees...it will be around $10,000 and that's what we were prepared to pay. they do not have their prices posted on the models so we are asking what would the final price be? they didn't give us a price until they got the financing approved. Then, shockingly, the final price was $15,300. Are you freaking kidding me?????? $4000 for the dealer mark-up!!!! Even the poor kid/salesman ( who was super sweet) admitted to us that it was shocking to him as well. I think he started working there like 5 minutes ago. it was spooky to be alone in the showroom, since they only admit costumers by appointment only. Couple people were trying to come in and standing by the door, calling, and they just had to go away bc no one would let them in. They had inventory bc they're not selling. Something's fishy about that place. Like it's a front for something else. I couldn't believe it! They charging sales tax on subtotal, including on their own paperwork and shipping. I will be contacting tax people and asking if this is legal. Also, I've been to dealers' showrooms: they're usually elegant and classy. The front doors are wide-open and inviting - not this place, the front door (which is really on the side of the building) looks like from a ghetto. and get this, when I asked the kid, why so much markup he said that bc it's a 'rare find'. I saw a bike on Cycle Trader -- but the pictures were heavily backlit and low resolution. It was a 2002 Triumph. I collect British bikes -- and have always wanted an ST. So I called and asked for a video/FaceTime walk around because the pictures were so difficult to see. I spoke with Benjamin -- who is the owner. He sounded lucid on the phone, and declined to do a walk around -- despite my offering to explain to any employee with an iPhone how easily it can be done. Going in person was going to be a 120 mile proposition -- and I have two young children at home and a demanding job. Benjamin gave me his word that it was in excellent condition and that I would be happy. I asked him repeatedly if there was any road rash or marks on the bike. His answer was no. So I drove. I parked out back -- and met the owner's son Hunter on the way in. Great kid. Enthusiastic. Welcoming. But I was disappointed to walk up to the bike from 15 yards away -- only to see road rash not on one side, but on both mirror backs. What appears to be paint work on the front fairing (it's a yellow bike, with red at a joint). Rash on both saddle bags. Chips on the tank. The seat upholstery coming out at the back. Not to mention the bike is filthy. I told Benjamin the bike was not in the condition he promised me over the phone. He was dismissive and mono-syllabic. I would avoid this place. I told them I wanted to see a cold start of the bike, they tried to shoo me away and take it back into service so they could start it and warm it up and then bring it out to me. Just a disappointing experience all around. There are so many good bike shops in NorCal. This unfortunately isn't one of them. I'd recommend going somewhere else. read more

Called the day before about checking out a used 2015 ninja 650. He didn't seem to want to give me the out the door price over the phone which is fine. A lot of places want to bring you in so that they can really sell you on the bike and get you emotionally attached and ensure a sale. I come in the next day and don't spend too much time looking at the bike as it is very low mileage (816 miles) and I am already familiar with this model. So I get into the office and meet Benjamin, the General Manager. We don't talk for very long. He asks me a couple of rapid fire questions about my situation before we got to the point. I asked him for a bill of sale and an out the door price and he started jumping away from the topic at hand. He asked if I was buying the bike today and I said, "No." He replied with, "So we're going to be making a sale today then?" I returned with another no and he became noticeably irritated. He asked me for my license and told him, "I don't have it I only came here for a bill of sale and an out the door price so I can take it to my bank for a loan." He replied with, "That's not exactly how it works buddy. How about you come back when you're ready to buy a motorcycle kid." He then walked out of the office and before leaving sight he turned around and yelled, "I thought you we're a busy person!" I was left sitting in the office for a few minutes before I realised he wanted me to see myself out. I was a little stunned by this because I don't understand why someone wouldn't want to sell a motorcycle at a dealership. Was there something he was trying to hide about the motorcycle? Regardless its going to be very hard to sell a motorcycle when you yell at your customers. read more

Definitely be prepared to over pay. They will not tell you the extra fees before you arrive. I asked several times what the fees would be before we arrived and got the run around. They put a $1200 mark up on the item we were purchasing plus freight and set up fees. We drove 3 hours to learn this lesson. Hopefully you will be prepared or just buy somewhere else. read more

Tyler, the sales manager, would not quote (or even estimate) a price over the phone before driving from so cal to pick up a dirt bike that has been hard to find. He Just told me he was too busy and didn't have time, and that he had 12 other people asking about that bike. Hopefully, one of those 12 people live close enough to walk away if he gouges them! The only reason for the 2-stars is for the others in the shop who answered all our questions about the bike and seemed genuinely understanding about us wanting to know a price before driving so far. About a year ago, I walked into Salinas Motorcycle Center to look at a couple used machines there, and was really put off when the sales team was reluctant to even acknowledge my presence. I buy and refurb jet skis as a hobby and I'm always looking for parts and used machines, so I was really disappointed when I felt I couldn't give a local business my business. After getting a friendly call from SMC a few months back asking for my business, i was on a time crunch to repair a ski so I decided to give them a shot again and called to order a couple of OEM Mikuni carburetor kits. I gave them the part number and my credit card and ordered them. I was surprised and thrilled to hear that they would be in within the week and were the same price as what I usually pay on Amazon. I went in to pick up my parts and was very disappointed when I was handed after-market parts (not Mikuni as I had ordered.) I explained my frustration and asked if they could please get me the appropriate part and they said they cannot get the Mikuni (OEM) part. I was offered a refund which I took. I called Grand Prix Powersports in Santa Clara and was pleased to discover that not only do they stock the OEM part, it was 10$ cheaper than the aftermarket part SMC tried to sell me. Sorry guys. Trying to purchase a RZR and was contacted by their salesman, after filling out applications online was contacted again on Saturday to be told to get in to the shop first thing Tuesday and fill out the paperwork for the financing before anyone else got there. I drove 175 miles 3hours and 40 minutes on Tuesday morning only to be told they couldn't do anything because they didn't have the vin number and the salesman kinda messed up. Called this place to confirm the price on a Kawasaki Vulcan Custom. The salesmen, Benjamin, confirmed a price of $5999 and asked when I wanted to pick it up. I explained I wanted to sell my current bike before buying another one and would call him when my bike sold. The next day my bike sold. Because I live 2 hours away I called to make sure the bike was still available and confirm the total price, including all fees. I say cool, problem is I'm coming from San Jose, I need to know if I can get it for a better price than what other dealers are offering. There process is no good, they have you apply for financing before you ca go look in person for an item you would like to buy, they run your credit which all that should be done after you have selected/ found something interested in buying. This the only way they will see you and give you an appointment. When it comes to customer service it's very poor here, they don't follow up with you. If your trying buy something you have to constantly be calling them. A guy named Taylor had been helping my dad and I. We were interested in buying a ATV and Go Kart, when we arrived today 07/18/20 had an appointment at 10:20am the guy who was originally helping us Taylor got frustrated due to what we want to buy stated they no longer had anymore on the ATV and the GoKart was all beat up and used said was driving driving in and out from the building. But you could clearly see it had been used not new as he stated. He got upset because I wasn't interested in buying anymore. He was super unprofessional. I've called multiple times to schedule an appointment to buy and finance a motorcycle. They're very ambiguous with information and wouldn't schedule me by an appointment. They ran my credit which lowered my score 15 points and never reached out to me. The guys working in the service and sales department were awesome and friendly. No hidden problems bike is awesome and after a solid afternoon of wrenching I have a perfect daily rider for a fraction of the cost. I'll be back to purchase my next bike. No detail on freight charge, dealer fees etc. this is basic information I ask every dealer over the phone. It's not a secretive thing. Went in to purchase a go kart for my kids, they were higher priced than what I can get online but I was willing to pay a little extra to be able to get right then. We went in to the office and they started ringing off fee after fee which made it way more expensive. The one that got me was $199 for shipping, I was like shipping? I'm here, the go kart is outside, what shipping? The salesman explained they have to charge me the shipping charge they paid to get it. WTH, ridiculous! I tried to speak with someone at this dealer for 4 days by phone and email. No response. Finally on the 5th day I called again and was put on the phone with someone from sales. This man, Benjamin, who I believe to be the owner was so horrible and rude, condescending and offensive I'm shocked he's still in business.
