This is a cute restaurant with a large menu. There's indoor and outdoor seating. We went on a Monday night and there was a live singer that serenaded the guests. I was introduced to Salento by a friend and I have not looked back since!!! Every time I come here it's a 10/10 or a 20/20. The people who work here are always super nice and respectful. Whenever I come by for takeout Maximo is always the one that helps me..he's awesome!!! I have tried a couple things here and they have all been great. Pizza Diavola (Pepperoni) - Semi thin crust pizza..not too thick not too thin..the pizza itself is tasty and not too oily like other pepperoni pizza!!! You can never go wrong with pepperoni!!! Fettuccine Alla Boscaiola - This pasta is made of a rose sauce. It's a mixture of white and red sauce and it made my taste buds go wild!! The taste of this pasta sauce brings me back to my childhood..when I was younger there was a restaurant in my town that served a sauce similar to this one. Eating this pasta is like bringing my taste buds down memory lane. Yum yum yum!!! Fettuccine Shrimp & Broccli in Gorgonzola Cream - I had to look up what "gorgonzola" was before ordering this pasta. If you don't like bleu cheese you will not like this dish. I am not always a fan of bleu cheese but I wanted to try a different type of pasta sauce so I took a chance and ordered this dish. It was good..the bleu cheese flavor is NOT overpowering but if you don't like bleu cheese don't order it. If you enjoy bleu cheese you might want to order this pasta. We stayed near Salento at Elements for 8 days. We visited Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Holbox. We tried various restaurants in these areas, but we always came back to Salento. Best pizza experiences outside of Rome! The Salento Pizza was truly amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone who visits this place. We ordered the Salento pizza which has cherry tomatoes, prosciutto, arugula and a ENTIRE whole ball of mozzarella cheese in the center. The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. The mozzarella ball was so rich and creamy, more like burrata. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the combination of the different toppings was simply fantastic. The rest of the menu was also impressive, but the Salento Pizza was definitely the star of the show. If you're a fan of pizza, then you absolutely must visit this restaurant and order the Salento Pizza. It's amazing! We came across Salento as we explored our neighborhood and decided to come on our 6 yr wedding anniversary night. We wanted something low-key & classy- can't go wrong with Italian! The restaurant is located about 2 blocks from 5th Ave (quieter end) so you're not running into drunk, obnoxious teeny boppers *win*. We sat outside enjoyed the nice breeze as we read through the decently sized menu, there is honestly something for everyone-pizza, pasta, calzones, you name it. We started off with the ground beef meat balls (yay pork free). These little joys were fantastic and along side the marinara sauce I could have eaten these little friends all day. Of course, we had bread at the table which was also dangerous my husband and I had to slap (by slap I mean love tap) each other's hands to remember to leave room for our entrees. We had our eyes set on the pizza since they do have the brick style oven. I went with an arugula & cherry tomato covered pie while my husband selected a shrimp n' veggie pizza. The pizzas were a nice hefty portion, we could have probably shared but when your both fattys....! The pizzas were really good, the crust texture was very Neapolitan style. If I had to be picky the cheese was prob on the basic side- not bad just not buffalo mozzarella from Campania. For the price, portion, ambiance and service this is a great Italian restaurant to enjoy with family and friends. If you're looking for a nice place away from the hustle and bustle of 5th Ave come on down! I would def go back and perhaps try out the pastas next time we are in PDC. read more

I have this a 4 star but this is a mixed review. Let's start with what was awesome. That is their Pizza. It's 5 star pizza, Playa del Carmen has always had great pizza spots and this would be good in any country you visit. It's legit. Now, the pasta was disappointing, we ordered 3 pizzas and 4 pasta dishes for our group. We all felt the same about the pastas. Excellent Food - Beyond Poopy Service with a big side of attitude and it's not our fault. The pizza ordered has changed ingredients but not name since the last time they updated their menu with their delivery service. When I called about receiving the wrong pizza, the long winded manager spent 5 minutes explaining his business and the tons of food they offer. He also spent a lot of time explaining how it wasn't his fault that the service he contracts for delivery didn't have the correct info. Then told me I could easily pay for another order and they'd get it right. Called the delivery service for help and got to listen to the same manager tell the delivery girl the same thing - Not Our Fault. Bummer that great food comes with shitty service. Great lasagna and pasta. Our first visit was great. The Italian waiter was friendly, quick, gave us recommendations and we had a great time. The pasta I had was the best pasta I have ever had. When I went there the second time, I went there for to-go. I asked the manager looking man "can I order for to-go?" And he just said "yes you can" and pretended he was busy and didn't care about me. I had to grab a waiter to make an order... rude manager (Italian). Also, when the manager was pointing a menu, he pointed with his middle finger (perfect form as if he was giving F at me). The fried meatballs are fantastic (order with some sauce) bruschetta was very fresh and Delish!! The pizza is the best we have had in Playa....EVER And the bread is authentic Italian. The homemade lasagne was really really good. We wish we would have ordered a second one to take home for breakfast.
