I enjoyed going to this place but the new head salad maker he cannot make a salad. Here I am paying almost $20 for two salads with protein, please tell me if you see the protein? There are six tomatoes in the salad, yes I counted them. I have to ask for everything twice and he still seems like he's pitching the food, why? You can see how much room is in my bowl compared to my business up until March where my bowl was full of salad. From now on when I see him I'm walking out the door and going to the Cedar Park or Austin location where I know I can actually get a salad for my money! read more

Came on a Monday for a quick lunch. Was skeptical that this place could be so great especially when busy. Boy was I wrong. There was a line that moved quickly. I told them I had a nut allergy and the worker immediately washed their hands and stayed with me the whole way through the line. Awesome! The toppings I got for my salad were also separate from what was on the line to prevent cross contamination. Great service! And fast considering the line and the circumstances. As i was scouting Austin I came across Salata. They provide a nice offering of fresh salad items that differ from Souplantation. Unfortunately, it's not organic but very few chain establishments are. There is a large selection of fresh ingredients. They also offer the much needed protein items such as chicken, salmon etc. Not sure if the fish is wild caught or farm raised. This location has only been open for about a week. The staff is very friendly and everything looks real fresh. You basically walk along the lineup while the staff puts your selections into a large stainless steel bowl. I like that you can choose as many options as you want and the price of your salad stays the same. They have SO many choices, and it can be a bit overwhelming. I originally decided to get a savory salad (seeds, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, broccoli, etc.), but then I got to the fruit section and couldn't NOT get some fruits, so I loaded up on the fruits (mango, pineapple, apples, strawberries). Then I got to the protein section and chose chicken. Then I got to the dressing section and wasn't sure if I should get a sweet dressing or a savory dressing! What a conundrum! I chose a mango dressing (the lowest calorie option there), and my salad was a big mess because I couldn't stick with a flavor. Tried out Salata the other day when I saw it was opened. The salad sizes are great, I was a little skeptical but even the small is a fairly large salad, and it also comes with bread. The chicken flavors I tried were all delicious and flavorful, some seemed a little over seasoned but that's not too bad of a thing in a salad, just a little surprising. The ingredients were all fresh and I ended up with an amazing salad I almost couldn't finish. The tortilla soup and pesto bread left a lot to be desired. I really wish it was open on Sunday. Most chains are trying to accommodate salad options on their menu, but all they do is give the same cheap ingredients in a bowl. A salad needs to be tossed with your choice of dressing and served fresh, sorry otherwise it's just veggies in a bowl. This place does it right and they are growing. Huge collection I greens, veggies, fruits, nuts and dressings. Love that they also give a toasted bread with their salad. All ingredients are organic, farm fresh and top quality. They don't cheap out on the meat too, as the chicken or sea food add on is $3 more. People need to realize that if their meat costs $1 (or less than bread or veggies) it's most likely procured irresponsibly by animal cruelty. They don't serve red meat. Also like the ambiance, has tons of natural light. Love eating in a steel bowl, finally a chain place that doesn't serve in paper and plastic. Even their take away containers and silverware look high end. Place is packed during lunch. My Only complaint is that they don't have ready recipes of salads that I can order with my twist. Try a spinach salad with tomato, cucumber, mushroom, green pepper, broccoli, sprouts, cilantro, beets, banana pepper, feta, olives, strawberries, mandarin oranges, mango and pesto chicken. I top it off with the herb vinaigrette. Definitely worth the extra $1 to add Artichoke hearts also! Honestly, the regular salad is so big it's hard to finish - you'd probably be full with the small salad. The $9 to $12 is worth it for all the different fruits and veggies you're getting. The service is always great and the restaurant is very clean. It is terrific, high quality food for a decent price. I love that I can get as many vegetables as I want unlike other salad places that only allow a small number before charging extra.
