This was probably the best tasting salad I've ever had. I loved the inside of this location because of how open and airy it feels with all the windows. I also really liked the little corner both I sat in as it felt very secluded. The service was great. They were really fast and efficient and gave good serving sizes with each of my topping selections. I really loaded everything onto my salad, and I got a small salad, but it was super filling, and I don't think I could have finished a large bowl. Definitely recommend getting a combo of the herb vinaigrette with the jalapeño avocado dressing. It created a nice limey flavor profile and added a zest to the entire salad. 6 pm on a Saturday night, and I'm on mom duty with two teenagers walking the mall. Service was great. The salad bar, not so much. Usually I'll walk on a bad bar, but I stayed and ordered as not all of the green roughage was wilted, only about 3/4's. Not a fan of how all the vegetables are diced, rather than sliced, julienned, and diced. Except the carrots-- these were whole carrots, sliced, which is off for salad carrots. Other Salatas I've been too have the different slices to match the texture you want to and expect in a salad. The lady was super sweet, and provided great service-- but was very light-handed with toppings. I just asked for 1 or 2 more scoops of everything. I did get excited about the selection of flavored teas and lemonades-- only to discover that they were out of everything except the tropical green tea. I genuinely hate paying this much for a salad and having it miss all the marks. But I'm not interested in being placated here by a customer service representative. Maybe just do some re-training for this location. Everything should be so fresh, and cut correctly. And when your only drink selections are water and 6-7 teas and lemonades, it would be nice for at least half of them to be functional. This has to be the worst Salata my husband and I have ever been to! When we walked in there was a horrible smell and soooo many fruit flies it was impossible to sit and enjoy our over priced salad. But if you have decent standards for size, freshness, and not getting upcharged, then that's not saying much at all, is it. This is a typical Salata in the Southtowns of Houston which is attached to the newly-expanded Baybrook Mall, the modern outdoor section. It's built into the mall structure, but you can get to it from the outside. It's big and spacious and new and should be really good, but the problem is the stuff isn't fresh and the servers aren't friendly. Now there are a few locations of Salata which are so good that we go almost every day for our near-daily salad. It's a good thing I've tried those places because if I would have gotten used to the many other locations that are more like this, I may not have even continued eating at this chain. The consistency from location to location and salad size and freshness are something that corporate should really look at, because there's a large percentage of stores that give salads that are way too small for a meal, and only a few of them give salads that are big enough. And there are way too many stores where way too many ingredients are congealed and not fresh, and way too many employees seem very not happy to be there. So, Salata. It's a great concept, but they need to be more careful with freshness, salad size, and hiring - at this location, many others in greater Houston, and all the ones in ATL. read more

I have been for numerous different salata in houston and surrounding areas, and this is the first time I went to one that "rationed" the food. When I asked for pasta, instead of a scoop, she put 3 pieces of pasta individually and struggled to limit how much she put in. When I asked for cheese, they pick It up, dumped half of out and then gave me the other half. I asked for blue berries. 1 scoop = 4 blue berries, rest were put back. 1 scope of broccoli was 3 individual small broccoli. 1 scope of jalopeno slices was 3. She put It back more than half when she picked up a whole proper handful. Every thing I added was rationed to the smallest amount ever possible. I almost laughed. For a 10$ salad here, I ended up with mostly lettuce and barely any veggies. I'm never going to this one again. It's not worth your 10$. I don't know if they ration It because they don't make a lot of money. But I've never been to a salata that did this. Every employee rationed the toppings and then I've witnessed them give attitude when you ask for a proper scoop. Save your money and go to the salata down the road. This is my second time coming here and they rationed the toppings. This time they needed a reminder to give the pita chips. They will "forget" to put It in the bag which happened last time. I forgot how much I love Salata! I also forgot that's it's not exactly cheap! But for the freshest salad and the most choices around they can't be beat and you definitely get what you pay for! I always get a small salad, although I like the wraps too; but the small salad with either chicken or quinoa definitely fills me up without maligning me feel like I had a huge heavy meal. I love that you can go through and chose what you want and how much you want. They have so many choices sometimes it's hard to chose but luckily you can get them all included! The only thing that's extra is the protein and the avocado so that's not too bad as most places charge extra for that. I enjoy salata a lot and so while walking around the mall I thought it would be a good place for a light dinner. When me and my friends went in the restaurant was fairly empty. The people who worked there were very nice and helped us the minute we walked in. The ingredients were very fresh and there is such a wide range of stuff to choose from. I think it's a good place to try if you're trying to get into salads because there are so many options you can really make your salad however you want. I love healthy eating & was super excited to visit a Salata location for the first time. I've had Salata catering before, which I've enjoyed, but my visit was less than pleasant. I don't expect very much from a "fast-food" dining option but customer service was less than satisfactory. It was my first time dining & after inquiring how the ordering process works and what items would be charged extra, the employee behind the bar became quickly frustrated and irritable. I was the only person in line, and it was nowhere close to closing time. I felt like a disturbance throughout my whole selection process of which toppings to add. Furthermore, the employee added so little of the base greens and any toppings I requested, upon each request to add more, she began rushing me. She often took an initial full scoop, then emptied over half of it back, before adding to my meal. I ended up not choosing a protein ($3 extra) b/c I wanted to cut my interaction with the employees as much as I could. I felt skimped and not valued, viewed as cheap from employees working there b/c I didn't fully understand the ordering process as a first time dine-in. I love the concept of Salata because it is healthy eating made accessible. The salad itself was fresh but I paid $8.66 for a salad that was made with such stinginess, it made the entire experience less enjoyable. I really like Salata, but I don't eat there very often because it is pretty pricey. They had a deal for hospital employees where we could get a salad or wrap with one protein and a signature drink for free. It was too good to pass up. Salata restaurants are pretty much designed the same way in terms of the layout. The ingredient options are amazing. The one thing I was disappointed about was the extra charge for quinoa. Since it's a protein, I had to pay an extra $3. Luckily the employee warned me before putting it in my wrap. At least I didn't have to pay for the salmon. I love salmon, but the salmon I had in my wrap had an overly fishy taste to it. Since I had so many ingredients in my wrap, it was fine, but I don't know that I would get salmon again (I usually do pesto chicken). That was my first time doing a wrap. I had the cool cucumber tortilla which was really good. The pita chips that came on the side were good, but some pieces had way too much sea salt on it. The pita chips were delicious with hummus. I had some sort of cinnamon berry tea which wasn't bad, but I kind of wish I had tried the limeade. Why 5 stars? Because oh how I wish we had Salata in Tampa Bay. --- --- --- If a Salata or something similar were to open up near my house, I'd be there every week. I mean, I'd love to... but speaking of things they are un-sexy. My metabolism has become a real asshole as I hit my 30's, so I have to seek out places to eat that are fun, but also healthy. Salata is exactly that. They really do make salads so much more appealing than one would be accustomed to. It's an over-used phrase, but Salata is the "Chipotle" of salads. You walk in, and go station by station to pick out all of the ingredients of your salad. By the end of the line, there's no way to feel cheated that you missed out on something you would have wanted - because they have EVERYTHING. The fountain drinks here are different types of teas, not sodas, so don't be thrown off by that. Bottles of soda are available, if that's what you're looking for. I visit this location at least 4 times a month and the seafood portions are always skimpy. I counted 1 shrimp today from my seafood mixture. It has certainly happened before but I decided to not complain but this is ridiculous. When I order chicken I don't have this problem. However when ordering seafood, you have to look for the shrimp with a microscope. This is my second time eating at Salatas. The process is very complete and simple. Start by ordering a large or small salad. You then pick your mix or combination of mixes. Whether you enjoy vegetables or fruit both are amply represented. The portions are decided by the employee however, when asked they will reduce or increase a particular choice. Second they stop helping customers to refill things that are already 75% full, telling you that now someone else will be with you...eventually. Then the portions are inconsistent. The woman put a shallow scoop of dressing on my salad. When I asked for more dressing she said it would cost extra. The salads are already $11. How the hell can they expect to up-charge more ranch? When I questioned it she chose to engage me on it rather than simply apologize or accommodate.
