Wow, just wow. I meandered spontaneously into this gem of a place as a solo traveler. Our tour…read moreguide had recommended 2 other places, but I know from experience that their suggestions are typically limited to pre-negotiated arrangements with the owners and/or locations that can accommodate larger groups. As a policy, I always look for my own spots. I found this pasta place based on its high ratings, grateful it was open out of season. It is small, so it cannot accommodate very large groups, but it is an exquisitely charming spot. The atmosphere is outstanding: Swiss vibes all the way and killer music (think We're Together by Jack Johnson and Downtown by Petula Clark). In the spirit of any place who wants to master its food, they do not have 1 million options on the menu. I got the Bruschetta (their house specialty) as an appetizer, and their Fresh Pasta (Meat) option of the day which came with a sage pesto sauce and crisp bacon. My photos do not capture the depth and comfort dimensions of the flavors, but I tried! Pasta is meant to be warm and cozy and filling, and this delivered. Balanced by the delicate flavors of sage, extra-virgin olive oil, and freshly grated cheese. I rarely finish my meals and asked for the rest to go, which did not seem to bother them one bit. The service was excellent. (Even the bathroom was cute, could not help but take a picture there) A true gem!

So, I tried very hard to find something special about this place (give that there is a red Michelin…read moresign outside the door). We ordered: Veal fillet Sole 2 glass of Pinot Blanc. Veal was good but nothing special about it. It's easy to find same quality plates somewhere else. Sole, was overcooked. How do I know? I hade to use my knife to cut through the fish. Service: average at best. However, table next to us got lot of attention from the manager/ owner. Maybe the size of your order determines the amount of attention you get! Also, we wanted to sit inside, but were told that all tables were reserved for 1:30pm. 1:30 came and no one showed up. 2:00 came and there still empty tables inside. So, that's my impression of the place. We expected more. Would I go back? Nope, but you make your own choice.

Thankfully they sat us even though we were not properly dressed. Service was excellent. Cozy, warm ambience inside - some outdoor seating with heaters. Good wine selection; greens were fresh for the salad & the truffle angel hair pasta was good. Needed some parm for additional flavor. We were both disappointed in the quality of the steak, particularly at the price for the largest piece. Very sinewy - not a good cut of meat. However - good flavor - was cut tableside and served with mashed potatoes & vegetables.

1 review in Yelp and 382 reviews in TripAdvisor for the oldest restaurant in St. Moritz?…read more In the Steffani hotel where we were staying. Very nice ambiance with chandeliers, and other glitzy décor in the surroundings. Took a stroll for the CHF 13 small salad bar, which came on an 8" plate. Piled on lettuce, tomatoes, corn, bits of boiled egg, diced raw onions, and sliced sausage, covered with house dressing. Unlike US salad bars, you only get one plate and one pass through the European salad bars. Wife's CHF 39 Wiernersnitzel was veal coated with bread crumbs, French fries and broccoli. Well presented and a good portion of meat, although very thin. French fries were thin and tasty, with minimal amount of salt, just the way I liked them. My CHF 40 fried medium sliced beef came with potatoes and broccoli, and bernese sauce, a yellow buttery sauce. Would have preferred good old fashioned beef gravy. The beef was undercooked, and more on the rare side. Gave all the rare portions to the wife, and ate some of her dish. Our last and most expensive meal in Switzerland. Very elegant restaurant, but I was dressed in T-shirt, shorts, and sandals, and was not tossed out of the restaurant, as temperatures in mid 80s outside.

Bolognese was a meat sauce which was quite dry and flavourless, not tomato based like bolognese normally is but a brown meat sauce. Veal picata was 44CHF, 2 small pieces of veal covered in a thick fried egg coating and butter pan juice which stank of burnt egg, served with a average tomato sauce and dry spaghetti. Perhaps summertime is not the time to visit. I would not recommend the food. Service was good
