    Chicken shawarma (small) with salad
    Mark L.

Got a small order of chicken shawarma. Was so surprised with the food serving and it's highly customizable. Service was fast and friendly.

Fantastic value for tasty shawarma. It's hard to miss, just off of Yonge & Hayden (and don't let it's exterior fool you). A "small" chicken shawarma meal only costs $10.99 but it almost feels like a large with how much they pack into the container. Highly recommended over some of the shawarma chains in the area!

Technically I'm not just a Yelp lurker since this is my 3rd review in a decade. I had to reset my password and login just to give a shout out to my man Said at Salad House. Everyone has their shawarma place and you should consider adding Salad House to your list because it is top tier. The photos almost speak for themselves but let me add a few observations. Staff and owner are personable and friendly Service is fast and orderly if everyone is following the unwritten system (1. line up to order and pay, 2. line up to specify toppings, 3. opt for tahini and hot sauce, 4. enjoy) Although price has increased by a couple of bucks over the years, the value is still unreal. $12.42 after taxes for their "small" chicken shawarma. The stress on these poor takeout containers...

    Chicken shwarma soooo goooood

Always get the chicken salad or wrap. So, so yummy and fresh. Large portions. Highly recommend! Great family run too

Very happy with my Cobb salad! Although they didn't have romaine lettuce and only spring mix when I went, I was still very pleasantly pleased with the taste, portion and price of the salads here. I know a lot of people get the shawarma salads as well. Will be back soon!

    Large chicken shawarma special
    Megan G.

Salad House is a small restaurant that does takeout. I ordered a large chicken shawarma special to go, and got a huge box filled with salad and chicken for $14. The portion size is generous, and all their ingredients were fresh! (Options included rice/salad, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, onions, feta cheese, tabbouleh, hummus, garlic sauce, beets, white sauce, hot sauce, etc.) I would definitely recommend this place for those looking for a filling, affordable lunch. One quick note is that they do accept Interac, Visa, and MasterCard, on top of cash.

Perfect place if you're undecided and want a bit of everything!

***TIP: Cash only...but they charge you taxes? So a bit sketch.*** Great lunch/early dinner grab 'n go type place! This is ESPECIALLY true if you don't know what you feel like and you want something relatively healthy. There are stools for a quick dine-in. Otherwise, most people do takeout. Menu is relatively short, consisting of salads, wraps, and salads w/ protein such as chicken breast/shawarma, etc. Box is stuffed to the brim! Small was at least 2-3 servings for me. A salad consisted of greens, lentils/chickpeas, a bunch of other veg, tabbouleh, and hummus. Then chicken shawarma was placed on top along with optional garlic/hot sauce. So it's a well balanced box with a bunch of all these Mediterranean flavours. Best bang for your buck in the Yonge/Bloor area which is otherwise kinda expensive!

Feeling hungry but want something WELL BALANCED with meats, veggies and carbs? Well this is the place to go! Came here a few days ago and it definitely left it's mark with me. This is a shawarma type of little shop tucked away near Yonge and Bloor on Hayden street. You have several options for salads, lunch specials, dinners and wraps. I love smoked salmon so I got the smoked salmon salad and because I was starving, I also ordered the Beef Fillet lunch special. Unfortunately I failed to take a picture of it because I inhaled the meal but it was LOADED with yummy food! The smoked salmon salad was pretty much like a greek salad but without the olives and it had a few slices of smoked salmon. It came in a generous portion and me being a big eater (sometimes) I'd say it would be a decent size for lunch. On to the beef filllet lunch special! Beef fillet is really just beef pieces/cubes. I kind of wish they had a bit more but it also did say it was on one skewer so that made sense. It came with their version of the greek salad, rice, chick peas, lentils, tabouleh and hummus (you can change it to tatziki). Another filling meal but definitely more filling than a salad. My tummy was DEFINITELY satisfied here. I had my beef cooked to medium and it was great! The salad and rice covered with the chickpeas and lentils tasted awesome too! Nothing unsatisfying! Finally, the people helping me were all very friendly and nice. A cherry on top of everything! Another place to add to the books and keep in mind when I am near Yonge and Bloor starving and wanting some greek/mediterranean food (I apologize but I'm not entirely clear as to which cuisine this is as I fail at differentiating between the two...)!

    Small chicken shawarma

But is a small really a small?! The portion sizes here are huge! I can normally finish "regular sizes" at other fast food joints but I could barely finish the "small" here. That being said, the food itself was just mediocre. I ordered a chicken shawarma lunch for $8.50, which came up to a little under $10 after tax. The vegetable toppings were all very fresh and juicy but I found that the chicken was a little too tough/burnt. My rating and my enjoyment of this dish would've been significantly better if the chicken were more tender. Oh well! Overall, this isn't my favourite to-go place, but I think it would be a great option for a quick, affordable, filling meal if I were in the area!

The Gyro Lunch. Somewhere underneath all that delicious sauce and meat is a house salad and rice with lentils.

Best bang for your buck in the Yonge and Bloor area for lunch. Don't believe me? Take a look at how insanely rammed this place gets during peak hours between noon and 1. Quite simply, Salad House gives you more food than any human being should eat in one sitting, and at reasonable prices. I've been eating here since it was the "Lunch House". I guess they wanted to promote their salads and appear more health conscious. Doesn't bother me. I can still walk out of here with a brick of food that will ensure no work gets done in the afternoon and often for less than ten bucks. The shawarma is obviously the biggest draw here. I recommend the "small". Maybe it's small if you are 6,7" and training for a strongman competition. The large lunch specials are better suited to feeding small villages but hey, who am I to judge. Personally, I got for the gyro lunch special. Each special comes with house salad (peppers, tomatoes, cucumber, onions, lemon vinaigrette and feta) and rice with your choice of lentils or chick peas. They'll also pile on a scoop of hummus, some pickles, tebouleh, and your meat of choice. Too much? Get a wrap. Or grab a salad. I'm a Cobb man myself. Either way, you get quantity, quality, and value. All hail the king of lunches.

If you read my review of Pita Land you would have noticed that I suggested going to Salad House instead. This place is amazing! The Shawarma is delicious and you get a HUGE amount of food for $10 - make sure you order the small, unless you want leftovers for dinner and tomorrow's breakfast. The service is fast and friendly. The only thing I wish is that the restaurant was bigger as there really isn't any room to sit down and eat; takeout only.

    "Small" Chicken Shwarama Lunch Special
    J C.

Chicken Shwarama lunch special is the way to go!! These guys are really generous with portion...literally 5lbs of food as they pack the container until it's filled to the rim! So I'd recommend getting the small, not large. I sometimes eat the small for lunch AND dinner, it is so much food. You may also ask for salad only, no rice for a lighter meal. Tips: Go early before 12pm to avoid long line-up or go later but not too late because once they sell out of the shwarama, there's no more (~2pm)!

    "Small" Chicken Shawarma

At one point I began to notice that my coworkers kept bringing back take-out containers filled to the brim with shawarma, fish, and other tasty meats. Curiosity got the better of me so I finally asked them where they got the food and they pointed me to this little gem on Hayden just off of Bloor and Yonge. The front of the restaurant was pretty nondescript and looked a bit run down just like the other other stores beside it, but when I saw the lunch rush lineup I knew there was more than meets the eye. The place itself is pretty small with only about a dozen stools for seating so it's pretty much strictly takeout. Once you enter you walk up to the cash register to order your food, pay and get the receipt, then line up at the front where one of two cooks will take it prepare your order. Utensils, bags, and napkins are all by the entrance which is very convenient since you can take however much you need. I ordered the small chicken shawarma that came with choice of salad toppings, rice, and potato or lentils. What absolutely blew me away was the portion I received. They pack so much veggies and meat into the container it was almost overflowing! The chicken itself tasted just as good as it looked straight from the grill - crispy and hot. The salad was all fresh, especially the tabbouleh, and complemented the chicken nicely. The rice was not too dry or mushy, just perfect (note you can skip rice for more salad!). By the time I was finished with the container my stomach was on the verge of exploding; it was that good. Seriously, pictures here simply don't do it justice you have to try the food yourself. If you want to see why it's called "Salad House" you can order vegan style shawarma wraps or plates and they'll fill you up with a healthy heaping of veggies. Whenever I'm in the area I can't help but drop by and every single time the food quality has been consistent. The friendly staff, efficient service, and excellent food is reason enough to keep coming back. My only tip is to try to go outside of rush hour so before or after lunch. During peak hours you might be in for a long wait.

However, I am giving Mandy's 3 stars as I was very disappointed with the portion size, especially considering the price. My bowl was only 2/3 full, when compared to the bowl purchased by my friend.
