Aladdin's mega sandwich - lots of filling
    Mary T.

I have been to Aladdin Shawarma House a couple of times. A Yelp experience brought me here the first time. I got the house-made rice pudding to go and loved it. I returned last night to get another one because I have been dreaming about it since my first visit! Both times, I dropped by in the evening. The first time was around 6 pm on a Thursday. The second was after 8 pm on a Wednesday. This eatery is in a plaza that does steady business. Both times, I was able of spot several available parking spots. I parked and headed over to Aladdin's main entrance. I sampled the following during my first visit: - Aladdin's mega sandwich - Blood orange Brio It does take a bit of time for your sandwich to be made. I ended up finding a table with comfy seating. I took off my jacket and headed back to the counter to check out the shawarma, fresh veggies and toppings, and more. It didn't take long for my sandwich filling to be made on the grilled, and my sandwich assembled and pressed. He placed my wrapped sandwich and drink on a tray. I thanked him and sat down to eat. This mega sandwich had chicken shawarma and merguez (French sausages). This sandwich had in-house bread with the proteins stuffed in it. It also had sautéed onions, olives, house tomato sauce, and lettuce. I am not a fan of olives. Had I known, I would have asked that they be held. Luckily, removing them wasn't taxing, partly because they were all grouped together. It was also partly because I have a ton of experience picking them off pizza and out of subs over the years, thanks to my dad loving olives on everything. I enjoyed this sandwich. The chicken shawarma was yummy. However, the tzatziki and tomato sauces, along with the moisture from the sausages and veggies in my sandwich made the thin in-house bread soggy. It was messy eating this sandwich, but the flavours were so good that I enjoyed the experience. I'm thinking that a thicker bread or even a baguette would have worked better. The sausages were yummy. They tasted homemade. There's a Marrakesh sandwich that features these sausages. I may need to have that next time. Heck, I'd eat these sausages on their own. I chose a blood orange Brio. I am normally not a sugary drink person, but I felt like a bottled fruity drink was merited. It worked out nicely with my mega sandwich. It didn't taste as sugary as I had feared. It was delightfully cold and yummy. This place has The Cheesecake Factory slices. I saw this eatery's house-made rice pudding and got that instead. It was so good. The top was broiled a bit. It had a hint of sweetness. It was creamy and comforting. It is awesome and one of my favourite rice puddings that I have ever had, which prompted me to return for more. This place makes a consistently yummy rice pudding. I highly recommend it! I used the washroom before I left during my first visit at Aladdin. It's a single stall for customers. It was clean. This place accepts debit and credit cards. Staff were super nice and hospitable during both visits. It's a cool eatery in Vaughan. It seems to be more of a dessert stop for me now, but I hope to return and try that Marrakesh sandwich. I have also been thinking about it for a bit. (147)

Right across from the big Transit City condo development with Parking! A bit of a hidden gem. Good service and lots of space to sit and enjoy. My Philly sandwich was freshly prepared from the fresh ingredients and the taste is great. I love all the meat cooking right behind the counters. The garlic roasted potatoes were very tasty and much better unhealthy fries :) I will definitely be back ! So many other menu items to try.

Beautiful and bright spot! I was so impressed right from the get-go! Friendly staff and the place is SO clean! The food smells amazing! Cag bread is so delicious with BBQ chicken shawarma! The fresh toppings were plentiful and so tasty! They toasted the pita after it was stuffed and it is so delicious. The flavors of the pickles mixed with the meat is the best flavour combo. My super picky 12-year-old stole my shawarma and ate it! Definately come here with your family and friends! So many customers walked in during my visit and they looked like regulars. I heard someone say that they were sold out of the roasted potatoes. I am definitely coming back to have a repeat of this pita as well as those potatoes! L

Mediterranean, Shawarma - it's in the name. Parking: Plaza parking, limited spots. Ambiance: Cozy, quick lunch spot, come with the boys. Service: Fast, they are busy with all the construction workers coming here for lunch. They move quick but move with care. Super friendly. Ordered the Aladdin mega sandwich. Very flavorful sandwich with a nice red tomato sauce. It came with two french sausages, some vegetables and and chicken. The staff were super friendly and very inviting. They have a variety of sandwiches (classic beef, chicken and falafel). And 4 signature sandwiches. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the sandwiches. My one REGRET I have is not trying their garlic sauce... garlic sauce is always great (4/5) Will have to come back and try more food items during lunch. After I get my beach bod though

Shawarma plate with side of fries

We ordered a shawarma plate with a side of fries and it was really good. Service was really good and friendly. Two of us shared a plate and there was so much food left over, really big portion size Pro-tip: order the smoked bbq chicken instead of the regular chicken. That house chicken hits different

Great service and excellent food. Good bread and meat option. Cool little spot that gets busy.

Not much to write home about here, but if you're looking for a decent bite with good portions that won't break the bank, this isn't a bad choice! If you love shawarma and need your fix, this can satisfy for the time being. I was impressed by their big family platter which was a great deal - and so long as you don't have dietary restrictions to worry about then it's all good! Based on convenience I stop in about every other week, which still hasn't made the place grow on me. The go-to is their house chicken plate, a big box with your choice of rice, potatoes, or fries, salad with exactly two slices of tomato only and about six pieces of pickled beet, plenty of pre-cut shawarma chicken they will reheat, and all your regular sauces. If you want something fresh go for the fries, otherwise everything else is warming and you will never catch them at a time shaving the shawarma meat fresh. They've got a wide selection of desserts so if you're interested definitely give them a try! For me, this is a safe meal that'll fill me up and satisfy a certain flavour profile I'm craving, but beyond that, not much else.

Our first time here, we decided to grab a quick snack. They had a 2 chicken shawarma special for 13.99. We ended up order the special and it was a great decision. The ingredients were so fresh and the staff were so wonderful. The ambience was welcoming, clean and overall nice little gem. For the chicken we got the house special chicken and it was moist and flavourful. Highly recommend and will definitely come back!

If you like middle eastern food you must try the food here. With Arabic food, sharing is the way to go. We ordered a few appetizers; hummus, fattoush, Greek salad, baba ghanoush (not pictured), tabouleh (not pictured). The reason I love going here is because of the appetizers, they remind me of how my mom and aunts make appetizers; in the traditional Iraqi way. The salads are zesty and sour, which is very typical of Iraqi cuisine but it's so delicious. The ingredients are all very fresh. I highly recommend trying the hummus and tabouleh, they're addictive. For our main meal we ordered a giant mixed platter with a bit of every meat (lamb chops, chicken souvlaki, beef schnitzel, chicken schnitzel, beef kebab tenderloin, Iraqi beef kebab). This was so delicious, everything was cooked perfectly. If you only want to try one meat I would highly recommend trying the lamb chops, I could easily eat 20 of those. The schnitzels are quite popular amongst kids, I remember ordering those all the time and they still taste as good as I remember them. And of course all the sides are amazing (especially the fries). For dessert we had tea and creme caramel, a great way to end the night. This place is awesome, we'll continue to go here especially for events (they sometimes bring DJs). The place is very clean as well (bathrooms are spotless).

I had actually taken the time to ask the staff at cash whether the pieces would be the same size as the kabob. Way too much sauce. This was on top of babaghanoush which already has garlic in it...like no reason to add liquidy garlic sauce on top of that.....I had to search for the meat with a fork. I had the picked turnips and they weren't tasty and were too salty. The whole thing was like a pita full of SLOP. Wouldn't order it again or would make sure the server wasn't using too much sauce. Wouldn't order the lamb again like this. I ate half of the salad items inside the pita but couldn't finish it - too wet and gross. When I got there, I reviewed the menu and was surprised to see even things that normally do not have gluten, such as french fries, roast potatoes, and falafel were marked with gluten. There was very little I could eat. I ended up getting a cold appetizer tray which for $19, for about half a cup of hummus, half a cup of mushrooms, and half a cup of roast eggplant. I asked if I could have rice on the side instead of the bread, she said she could not substitute, and I would have to pay for it. I did so, and received less than a cup of plain rice. When I got my bill, it was $34. The rice on the side, was over $7. Absolutely ridiculous that I spent $34 on a meal of plain rice, and 3 small dips. Extremely unaccommodating and also rude, I would not go back. If you have any kind of food, intolerances or preferences not recommended.

That's where I think this place falters a bit. The food is good, don't get me wrong, but there is a clear lack of pacing and the food we received wasn't consistent or fresh in some cases which left much to be desired in the end. If we had received this order warm and not dried out, then I think we've got a hit on our hands! I think in time this place should be a regular place for Kosher eaters north of Hwy 7. They still just need to work out the kinks and they are getting there! I'd say check them out for sure, I'll definitely be ordering from there again to see if they are on the right track. The staff are friendly and were quick to point out if anything wasn't available from the menu at the time which was great. Menu items are priced well for kosher in the city. I'm a little surprised the lentil soup is $8.50, but everything else is priced fairly (ie about $16 for a shawarma in a laffa) which is amazing! The only other issue I had (small but well worth noting) is that the location is tricky to get to and just know that when heading over, you might have to pull a u turn on Hwy 7 if you are coming in from the east. Best to enter from the onramp connected to Langstaff for a smoother entry. Keep up the great work!

I've been eating here for 30 years,…read morewhich in restaurant time is basically surviving a war, and Sababa is still standing, still feeding people the way it always has: honest, soulful Middle Eastern food that shows up every day and does the job right. This is the kind of place where the menu hasn't been "reimagined," because it never needed to be. The chicken skewers dinner is a personal staple--charred just enough, juicy where it counts, seasoned with the confidence. The shawarma is famous for a reason: shaved hot, spiced deep, and piled without apology. You start with the dip platter because that's what you do here--hummus, tahini, baba ghanoush--the opening handshake before the real conversation begins. Attached to the restaurant is a grocery store that feels like a lifeline--shelves of hard-to-find ingredients, spices, and staples that remind you food isn't just something you order, it's something you live with. There's also a takeout counter with a few tables, perfect for quick eats that turn into longer stays because the food demands your attention. Sam Azar founded the place, and the legend goes deeper than the menu--he even made their lentil soup recipe public, giving it away to the newspapers like a gift, not a secret. That generosity still hangs in the air. Today, his children carry the torch, and you can feel the continuity: same spirit, same standards, same refusal to mess with something that works. Sababa isn't flashy. It's better than that. It's dependable, rooted, and quietly excellent--the kind of restaurant you measure your life around, not your Instagram feed. The dining hall was closed, so I ordered food from their next-door Sababa Mid-Eastern Groceries store's to-go counter at the back. First item that caught my eye was their steak liver pita. I also ordered a bowl of their famous lentil soup and grabbed a bottle of Efsane Uludağ Gazozu. The liver was as I would hope, rich iron-y flavor with fresh lettuce and tomato salad with a dash of chili flakes. I pretty much inhaled it, as I was famished. However, it was the lentil soup that made me take pause. I have made lentil soup at home in the past with meh results, but tasting this rendition's unassuming, yet thoroughly satisfying flavor and filling consistency made me want to try again. Lastly, the uludağ rounded out everything nicely, a slightly different crispness to it that took me by surprise. A humble feast was had.
