    Chicken shawarma fries regular size
    Nadia A.

I would say this place is average. The prices are reasonable and portions are large. I ordered the regular size chicken shawarma fries which is big enough for two. And the definitely pack it with lots of chicken. $7.90 including tax My only problem was the sauces on top. They aren't as rich in flavour as I would of liked. Still worth trying.

After initially being skeptical about trying this place because of our loyalty to the Lazeez location on Britannia, my husband and I gave in. To our surprise, we have become big fans of this place and have already visited a few times in the past two months. There are many food options and we particularly like that there are specials for each day of the week. This place has really good food at reasonable prices - great value for what you get. We particularly love their chicken on the rocks and their falafel wraps which always taste so fresh and have a great blend of seasonings. Their version of poutine (think chicken on the rocks but on fries instead of rice) is also good. The fries aren't anything special but their sauces are so good! The garlic, tahini and hot sauces aren't overly salty like some places can be - perfect blend of savoury goodness over rice or fries. This place also is not stingy by the way on the ingredients - the containers are always stuffed! You can also dine in if you want as they have a few tables and chairs for families or small groups. The inside usually looks pretty clean and the place itself looks quite new or has been maintained really well. Staff are also pretty friendly whenever we've come here. Definitely give this place a try if you haven't already!

Chicken on the rocks, Half and half (rice and fries) with mild hot sauce

If you like chicken shawarma then you need to try Taza, service is friendly and the meat is very tasty! I always get the half and half rice and fries because I love both options. The garlic and humus sauce is also very good! Overall a good bang for the buck as the portion sizes are very big.

If you're craving shawarma + salt, this is the place for you! I find most shawarma places high in sodium, so I know what to expect. The "Xpress" was pretty accurate. It took a few minutes to throw together my Chicken On-The-Rocks ($7.99): a bed of seasoned rice, seasoned chicken shawarma, and 3 sauces - white, red, & I think there was a tahini. Some salad/veg would've balanced it out nicely! Order said "mild", but it was actually medium-spicy. Sauces and spices did taste better than other places. Other than a bit too much salt, I liked the marinate on the chicken. Chicken wasn't dried out like many shawarma places. All in all, it was tasty, approx. 3-4 normal portions, but again, on the salty side. I requested "not as much" sauce and it was still pretty saucy, as per photo. If this bothers you, maybe just reiterate. Lady who took my order was sweet. Quick and no nonsense for takeout. Restaurant was 75% full. Convenient location, plenty of parking.

Small little place with few tables in a nice newish plaza. I ordered the the shawarma plate which was decent portion size but the salad was mainly pickle. The food was fresh and the chicken was decent. Nothing amazing and just regular shawarma. They serve halal food at this location.

This place is probably one of my favourite shawarma places in Mississauga! The prices are unbeatable for the amount of food you get, the plates are so big its enough to fill you 2 meals. I get mine delivered and with Skip the dishes you can get a shawarma plate, extra chicken and garlic fries for just $15.05. They serve Chicken, Beef, Lamb different kabobs, on rice, or fries with salads (cesear, greek, green!) They have daily specials and a ton of options, when you walk-in. If you haven't tried this out of highly reccomend it!

I moved to the area and this place awas right opposite so I wanted to try it out. I am so glad I did! Their daily deals are go great... my favorite is Friday's! The quality and quantity for the price is also really good! I will be becoming a regular for sure!

    Shish tawook

I ordered a shish tawook plate and received a plate full of rice and 4 pieces of burnt chicken. It was depressing looking at the plate. Very underwhelming and I won't be back.

    Anindya S.

Feels weird when you get very sub par experience after expecting a lot based on past reviews. Not the perfect Friday ... was looking forward to the chicken shawarma on the rocks deal. Well the chicken felt dry although smothered in hot sauce which I don't mind but it really lacked flavours. The rice was dull and thick. Will stay away not going back. :(

First time trying Taza! It was hyped up by a few of my friends and recommended to try the chicken on the sticks because the fries are like Costco fries. THEYRE LIKE COSTCO FRIES!! And they have bomb fries. I wasn't able to go to the store to order but my friends ordered for me and we had it all to go. It comes in 3 sizes. Student size, regular and large. Student is a perfect size for me but I got a regular which was HUGE. It was in one of those square boxes (a large in lazeez to compare) and it was filled with a good amount. A Taza size large is in the same box except it's stacked up a little higher. I compared a R and a L and there's a huge difference. They don't charge extra for getting half & half (fries and fries). I did that to try it out. I'm not a fan of the rice, I find lazeez and osmows has better rice but the fries here are the best. The other two places can't compare! The chicken and sauce is just about the same. Would come back!

I had never tried Egyptian food before, but I was feeling a little adventurous. I'm really glad I did. A few dishes were recommended, but I was told the Koshari is beloved in Egypt, so that's what I ordered. Be prepared for a bit of a carb coma, but it's absolutely worth it. It was delicious. The mix of pasta, rice, lentils, chickpeas, and crispy fried onions worked surprisingly well together, especially with the sauces they give you. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Toronto.

Karas bills itself as authentic Egyptian food that is entirely charcoal-grilled. I tried 2 dishes: grilled chicken & grilled minced lamb. Both dishes cost me $50 and is worth less than $20! Here's why: 1) the portions were miserly! For a $30 plate (with tax), take a look at the photo - 4 tiny balls of minced lamb sitting morosely on the plate. 8 bites in total! 2) the meats were as dry as OLD SHOES! Charcoal grilling is an art form. The lamb, which was supposedly wrapped in lamb fat, should have been succulent and juicy. Instead, as the 2nd photo shows, it was burnt and very, very dry. 3) the chicken was no better. Dry to the point of being stringy and chewy. It was supposed to be dark meat (leg), but it was so dry I couldn't even tell if it was dark or white meat. 4) For this miserable dinner, I waited a full 28 minutes - when I was there at 4pm and I was the only 1 of 2 customers. Unacceptable! This was a real disappointment, and a total let down, because Karas shawarma (by the same Owner) was actually quite decent, which was why I decided to try their restaurant location. My verdict: Eat at Karas shawarma, when they have their 2 wraps for $20 promo on Mondays. That's worth eating for that price. But Karas Restaurant most definitely is NOT worth eating at - at this price point & for such bad quality!

The owner of the place, Maha, was also extremely pleasant going around tables and chatting with the customers. The restaurant space was a little tight, but it has a lot of character. It gives a very welcoming and homey feel. One minor gripe I have is that the utensils appear to be sealed or covered the wrong way. It was the ends of the spoon and fork that was covered with napkin and not the actual surfaces that come into contact with food. The ends of utensils that actually come in contact with the food and mouth just lie there directly on top of the dining table which is not the most sanitary. As for the food, the food serving size of the meal is great and is usually more than enough for a person. Ordering appetizers on top of the brunch meals will be good for only those that are heavy eaters. For food taste, I personally would rate it as OK to good. It was not bad, but just not something I would personally consider to rank as among my favorite breakfast fare. I enjoyed it more for the novelty of trying something different which is Egyptian food.
