Terrible, served me old wings that looked spoiled inside. Glad I was paying attention before eating them

I like this location- it's located right next to the Minnesota Ave Metro station. I ended up here accidentally as I was killing time and starved! It's a cute restaurant in a growing area. It was not too crowded inside as it was during late lunch timeframe. It's pretty modern inside with seating, a bar, and R&B playing. The menu was extensive and they had lunch specials. I was served by the bartender who was super helpful in helping me select a meal. I settled for the spicy rice/chicken. I opted for very spicy and it delivered to my satisfaction. This is a perfect spot for a happy hour or quick bite. The staff all seemed pretty amazing. Definitely return as I'm in the area a lot during my commute.

Just popped by to pick up dinner and was pleasantly impressed with the deliciousness of my food. I started with the fried tofu on the HH menu. These were big triangles of perfectly fried tofu with a soft interior served with a sweet and sour sauce. I loved the panko coating which made these nice and crispy. I also had the Tom Kha soup with chicken. It was piping hot and nicely seasoned. It was tofu nite for me as I ordered the Ka prow tofu for an entree. The heat made this exciting to eat. Also loved that the veggies retained a nice crunch.

Working from home today and decided that I was too lazy to make me and my oldest niece something to eat. I've ordered from Sala Thai several times before and have never been disappointed but at the same time, I'm never satisfied. It's the inconsistency for meeeee! I always get the Spicy Basil Fried Rice. The heat from this dish always varies from a nice summer day to the vestibule of h*ll! Whoever cooked my meal today understood the assignment and still chose to do extra credit anyways. It really didn't need to be THAT spicy *insert eye roll*. I had no idea that this food was going to be Thanos and each bite was going to be the snap that wiped the existence of my tastebuds. Slight torture but still edible. If you order this dish you will be entering into The hunger games, so may the odds be EVER in your favor. My niece did enjoy her food which was good since this was her first time trying this place. They give you plenty of food and the prices are reasonable.

I want to start off by saying this is a review for the food only. I did not visit the establishment and sit down to dine. This was delivered to me via Uber eats. It took a total of 25 minutes from the time I ordered it until the time I received it. I live very close. I ordered the Sala Thai dumplings, Wings and the Goong Krob Kra Prow. The items were placed in containers that didn't allow for anything to be soggy as you will see in the photos. I ordered the wings naked, with sweet and sour sauce on the side. It came with six wings, celery and plenty of sauce for the wings. The sweet and sour sauce was really good. I don't know the name of the sauce that came with the dumpling. Frankly, I didn't expect any, but it was a great dipping sauce. They were made primarily of crab, shrimp and pork. Each bite was full of flavor. I would definitely order them again. Lastly, I took a chance with the Goong Kra Prow. I don't usually order shrimp, especially fried shrimp because I'm never sure what I might end up with. I thought this dish was wonderful. The large shrimp were seasoned very well, lightly battered and were cooked to golden, light, juicy perfection. The veggies were fresh and the rice very fluffy. The sauce was excellent and more than enough for both of my meals, because If you look at my plates, you'll notice that I have enough for two. I already started eating before I remembered to take the pictures. I would recommend this place for the food!! No doubt!

The office gang wanted to order lunch. Once we picked what type of food we wanted, we checked delivery range & ratings. Everyone voted the same. The food came fairly quickly. The boxes were nicely packed. Nothing leaked. The portions were huge. The Pad Thai was excellent. The noodles were yummy. The sauce made the dish. The red tofu was good. The broccoli was fresh. The carrots were creatively cut. The dish was large enough for two meals.

This place is a vibe! Especially happy hour on a Friday. Everybody is friendly and having a good time. They have this fish bowl cocktail drink that is blended so well and so strong for $10. I highly recommend because it will get you on your level. I got the crab Rangoon's which were very appetizing and made with real lump crab meat. For my entree I got the red curry chicken with Thai noodles. I was not expecting it to be fire but low and behold it was!!! Very authentic and full of flavor. I was overall very satisfied with my food and drinks here. The service is not the best but the great food makes up for it.

I feel a little insecure giving this place a 4-star rating when the rest of Yelp gives it a three, but alas. Here we are. Sala Thai is a small DC Thai food chain. This location is located east of the river near the Deanwood Metro. It's in the bottom of a new condition building on a main strip. When you walk in, you'll be greeted by its friendly staff and directed to a table of the bar. It's clean and we'll kept. They offer a great happy hour list of both drinks and food. Their regular menu is big! I ordered that green curry with chicken and it's enough to fill one person. The curry was tasty and the perfect amount of spice. To end, I ordered the sticky rice and mango. It was a good dessert but did have too many coconut crisps on top. Overall, a good experience and fun to explore Deanwood afterwards too!

I had some late meetings and so lunch didn't happen for me until close to 3pm, which is when I came here. I ducked in here around 3pm, which was probably after the lunch rush and the place was pretty empty except for 2 other people dining. I needed to charge up my phone and the staff here were super nice and put me at a 4 top that had an outlet available, sweet! And since it was quite cold for me (Im from Phoenix), I opted for a miso ramen noodle soup with tofu. Noodle soup was decent, not as good as an authentic Japanese place, but since it was piping hot, it soothed my soul and the boiled egg was very good too! I slurped happily, got my phone charged, staff was very nice and helpful and I was tucked into a cozy, warm place, so I was a super happy and content when I left. Ramen plus tax and tip came to $20, pretty good deal. I'd come back here again to give other dishes a try too.
