Good food and good service. Thought the entire experience went well. The Sushi was fresh and tasted delicious. read more

We love this little sushi place. We are very particular about our sushi , It has to have the rice seasoned perfectly, the freshest fish and the avocado at the exact right ripeness. Sakura sushi is the best in southern Oregon, and trust me we have shopped around. The service is amazing, we only go here when we are passing through town yet they still remember us or at least they seem to and it feels like visiting old friends. read more

We moved from the SF Bay Area eight months ago and have been craving good sushi. Upon recommendation from a waiter at Applebee's, we tried Sakura after a day of chasing waterfalls (sorry, TLC). We are pleased! Clean establishment, fresh ingredients, and very efficient waitstaff. We asked for a dish and it was delivered less than 15 minutes. Recommend highly. Try for yourself! read more

Love love love when we get to come here! Fresh yummy sushi and such friendly staff! Glad they survived their hardships this past year!

Good! We moved here from California about a year ago and haven't had Sushi since we got here, we decided after reading all of the positive reviews to give this place a chance and it did not disappoint. Good food and really good service. We will be back! read more

I'm traveling from Los Angeles California to visit my daughter. I Was hungry for some sushi and teriyaki beef stopped by Sakura sushi Where I live, it has some of the best Japanese food on the West Coast Sakura sushi would compete very nicely there it as if I never left home. Their food was so good. I had the two item bento box teriyaki beef, spicy beef. They give you large portions for an incredible price. I'd pay triple in Los Angeles for what I ordered here in Roseburg Neil to say I was very happy and satisfied with the quality of food and the friendly staff. I highly recommend Sakura sushi if you want to taste of authentic Japanese food at a great price. read more

We stopped at Sakura Sushi since we were near. We had been here before with good dinner and one not so good but hoped it would be better tonight. We ordered the shrimp and veggie tempura which has always been good. I wish they'd leave the asparagus stem out because it's not edible but everything else is excellent. We also got a Kirin large beer to share because you need it after a hard work day that started early. We also ordered the chirashi. The Chirashi comes with 20 pieces of fish for $32.95 which is more than we paid anywhere across country-even LA, unless it comes with uni or other specialties. The dinner comes with miso soup (good) which and a sort of sunomono (though not a favorite since not much flavor gets to the larger cucumber chunks). They have other appetizers that will be good to try next time. Ambiance is ok. Tables and booths around the outside. Service was great. I really like the new server. She is very good. I agree with Dale B. that we need these restaurants in town. We will be back to try something new. read more

Sakura is about a mile from my home, so if. I need a sushi fix it's convenient. Service is ok, but I'm not writing home about it. I think the previous owners of the Chinese food place rebranded and switched to sushi. The actual sushi isn't bad, per se. Would I sing songs about it? No. Do I still eat there. Yes, but not weekly. Or even monthly. It's like that booty call you know is always down. 4stars for reliability. read more

The service was amazing, love the people there. Appetizers absolutely top-notch!! The rest of this review is based on my experience with 3 rolls and not the other 48+ that they offer. So take this all with a grain of salt and only for what the verbiage is. My wife really enjoyed the veggie rolls! (Even though they weren't fried the way that she thought they would be based on the verbiage on the menu) In the photos, you will see on this post, there was on the right to left, shrimp lover roll, volcano roll, cowboy roll. As you can see, they really enjoy going heavy on the imitation crab. So if that's your thing, you're gonna really love this place. If it's not your thing... I would suggest either going elsewhere, or not getting anything with "crab". The overpowering flavor of the imitation crab made it difficult to taste much of anything. Personally woulda liked some spicy tuna or other fish mixed in there to diversify the palette. However, my favorite of the three rolls was the cowboy roll, which is very weird for me because I typically don't put a fried roll at the top of my list. However, I really liked the sweet addition of the mango inside of the role, whenever you actually had a bite of the mango in the piece you were eating. But out of the three bites of each piece, 2/3 were just straight "crab" and the last one had avocado and mango which again was an amazing flavor experience! The shrimp lovers roll, tasted like something I coulda had at Fred Meyer for 1/3 of the price and just as much roll. The volcano roll was the only roll that didn't taste like only imitation crab, but was also a 5.3/10.0 on my scale of of if I liked the roll or not with 5 being average. It wasn't spicy or contain much flavor. The staff was very nice, the ambiance was very typical of a sushi place, and it was enjoyable. When we walked in it smelt like fish (duh, but like strong), and the bathroom felt dingy and like it hadn't been deep cleaned in a few months. Like urine was missed somewhere. read more

We love Sakura! Everything is delicious and well-presented, the restaurant is clean, the staff is lovely (genuinely welcoming and efficient), and the wait is minimal! I really can't say enough about this spot other than it's our go-to sushi spot in Roseburg! read more

Food was fresh and their ginger? Sauce is amazing!! I only order to go, so I can't speak to the ambience...

We are so excited to have a sushi place in town, we decided to try it on Mother's Day. We arrived around 5:30 pm and the place was busy but not packed. We ordered the shrimp fried rice and the dragon roll. The shrimp in the rice was cooked just right (I have a thing about over cooked meat), it had great flavor but I'm not crazy about having other vegetables besides peas and carrots in my fried rice (it had Lima beans, corn and green beans). We also had 2 small cups of green tea. The dragon roll was delish. Perfect size and had good flavor. Our meal arrived ~15 min after we ordered. I was super impressed as the place was busy. The reason for the three stars comes from the service. Upon sitting down, our waitress set menus down in front of us and walked away without greeting us or saying one word. She looked very overwhelmed but to not even say hello or I'll be right back with you surprised me. We will still go back because the food was good and it was quick. As with any new place, I'm sure they are ironing the kinks out. We are lucky to have a place like this in Roseburg. read more

I like sushi sometimes, but Rose, not so much. However, this place has a lot of other Japanese dishes, besides sushi, including rice, soups, and noodles. There's something good for both of us. The service is great! You're promptly greeted and taken to a table when you enter. Getting your food is moderately slow, but not overly slow. It's worth the wait. The ambiance is clean and casual, with tasteful Japanese art and decorations. The average cost is moderate. read more

This is a wonderful sushi restaurant. The sushi is fresh, delicious, and served beautifully. Prices are comparable for excellent sushi. The decor is nicely understated with NO loud music. We ate here twice in a week. If you're not into sushi, they do have other menu items. We need to keep this restaurant in business in Roseburg! For the sake of other diners, if you choose to dine here, please don't wear heavy perfumes and colognes. Our second dinner was spoiled by the perfume of another diner. Luckily we were almost finished or we'd have requested to be moved. There is a longer menu for more options. Go! Eat! Enjoy! read more

This sushi place is owned by Cantonese so it's definitely not authentic Japanese foods. The flavor is good. I ordered unagi fried rice and it's a little wet as fried rice. But it isn't very salty which is good. I didn't get to try their sushi dishes. And the price is a little more expensive than I would like to pay. read more

Douglas County scored when this sweet little restaurant opened a few weeks ago. Sushi isn't easy to find out here, and good sushi is kind of like the easter egg you hoped to find as a child. Sakura Sushi makes good sushi. The fish is fresh and the cuts are well thought out. My salmon was melt in my mouth tender. The avocado roll boasted fresh, not overly so, avocado, and the spicy tuna was both delicate and zippy, a hard balance to reach. The blonde miso was light but might have benefitted from sone slivers of green onion. My mouth missed the texture. Their menu looks ambitious and thorough. I look forward to exploring my way through it. The space is bright, clean, and the seats are comfortable. Welcome to Douglas County! read more

I have liked Sakura for some time, but the last few times have been a little odd.. I don't mind chicken thighs, but please try to get rid of a little bit fat. And I had asked for light sauce and my food was so drenched I couldn't finish it. But when the food is cooked and prepped properly.. wow! I might not be back for awhile, but hopefully when I do try it again it will be different. read more

Workers were incredibly sweet, and the sushi was fantastic! Always consistent. We stop here quite often and never regret it

Excellent rolls! Fantastic service! The old building could use a refresh. Important to me that a place preparing raw fish for consumption be clean, very clean. That would have earned 5 stars. The food though, it was great. Miso soup and seaweed salad was on par with upscale restaurants. The rolls were beautiful and had thick chunks of fish in them - fresh, tasty, delicious and beautiful!! read more

THREE VISITS, THREE WINNERS We are spoiled from living in the San Francisco Bay Area for years. This is NOT "World Class" high end sushi, but it's as good as it gets in Roseburg. First, let me get this out of the way ... If you know, love and want Japanese food, then Sakura Sushi is NOT the place you want to go to. The menu items here resemble Japanese food, and frankly, that is about as close as you get to authentic / traditionally prepared Japanese food. That's not to say the food is bad or poorly prepared ... the items we ordered was fairly decent, tasty and good portion sizes. There are numerous choices of sushi available and the ones we ordered was simply okay ... be aware they're made with plain rice, not sushi rice. Again, not bad, just okay. The staff was friendly. The prices are about the same as much better Japanese restaurants you find in the "big city" ... which is to say it's a bit pricey for what you get. The restaurant, while very busy, was clean. The decor was about 80% Chinese and the remainder was some Japanese dolls on the wall. There was plenty of parking. read more

This is fine but the sushi is loosely rolled ramen is not impressive. They have no traditional toppings really and they don't even offer extra marinated eggs. No Naruto no flavor bombs no black Ginger. I don't even see actual pork belly.. read more

I had friends visiting from Salem. They had a take-out order from this place, and ONCE AGAIN, when they brought it home, one of the items they wanted (AND PAID FOR) was missing. I should have warned them about making sure EVERYTHING is in the order BEFORE you leave the restaurant!!! This is becoming a deliberate form to cheat customers, because it keeps happening - and when the restaurant is NOT that busy!!!! Be careful if you order take-out....just check ALL of your items first. read more
