They also had a good beer selection but since I was on the scoot I grabbed a Coke instead to go with my ham and salami sammich. It was good. Really good. The pickle that came with it was that old-school deli pickle, and it also came with a bag of chips. Staff was friendly and the food came out quick. No TVs, the place was clean and bright, and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg. Great place to stop in if you're on the road.

From the outside it doesn't look like much but we were surprised that when we went in to check it out, we found that they actually have a small dining room with tables and chairs. There is a counter where you enter your order and sandwiches pay for your food. The menu is surprisingly extensive. They have both hot and cold sandwiches along with some hot entrées . I had a cold pastrami sandwich and it was very good. I liked it better than most supermarket sandwich counters and better than Subway sandwiches. My wife had a cup of Vegetable Barley Soup and Onion Rings. All in all, it was pretty good. It was far better than we expected. This is a good lesson where we should not judge a book by its cover.

I think our bartender's name was Alicia (if so, she was fantastic - if not, whoever it was deserves a medal). Friendly, quick, and made the whole place feel like home. It's got some 49ers vibes going on, so you've been warned (or welcomed, depending on your team colors). This is an old-school bar - started in the late 1800s - but it's packed with life. Lots of colorful, interesting locals, and just an all-around great group of people to share a drink with. Didn't try the food, so no comment there - but the atmosphere alone was worth the stop. Loved it Best part is they served grilled cheese sandwiches an pea soup, just like my mom used to make. (I'm 70) .they sold it and the new owners really spruced it up, and the menus, however, no pea soup but fantastic clam chowder and wonderful tomato soup. Great bar, fantastic service, wonderful music. I just came down due to my mother passing, but I still ate there 9 times in 3 weeks. Number one for comfort food. The elk burger is juicy, sweet potato fries, fish tacos were wonderful!! What ever u do, do not miss going next door to the most wonderful antique store you will ever visit. It's more like walking into Nordstroms than a dingy antique store.
