Fast and great service. Large portions. Egg foo young was very good. Hot and sour soup was good, the egg flower soup was bland and watered down. Veggies with fried tofu good. Crab rangoons were bad- sweet and weird and nothing like crab rangoons (it's one of my favorite splurges I get everywhere and these were awful). On a recent drive from Seattle to Los Angeles, we stopped in Sutherlin, Oregon for dinner at Yummy House. The restaurant far exceeded our expectations. The restaurant is about 3/10 mile off I-5, and has plenty of parking. We ordered General Tso's Chicken (on special the day we went) and Shrimp Peapods Chow Yuk (stir-fried veggies). The dishes came with complimentary soups; we both chose Hot & Sour (our favorite, and a bellweather for the quality of the food). The Hot & Sour soup was great. It had a nice sour tang and was moderately spicy (both very nice), and had fresh vegetables as well as tofu strips. I asked for the small portion of General Tso's Chicken with steamed rice. The serving was well more than I could finish after a long day of driving. The sauce was great, and the breading or the chicken was crisp and crunchy. The chicken chunks (of which there were plenty) were huge. Spouse ate about a third of the huge portion of the Shrimp dish, which came with both plentiful peapods, lots of celery and brocoli, and more than a dozen shrimp. The shrimp and vegetables were crisp and fresh. Our server, Sandy, was also great, answering our questions about menu items, the history of the restaurant, etc. as well as bringing our food & drinks very promptly. She checked in every once and a while, and brought boxes for our leftovers, which we added to our travel cooler for lunch tomorrow, along with two sets of chopsticks. The last thing we check in a new restaurant is the cleanliness of the bathrooms. Again, very nice! A nice touch: There are a couple of bins of childrens' toys at the desk. Had takeout for my entire family and it was some of the best food we've had in a while. Service was excellent and super friendly.

We recently moved here from Southern California and we were really excited to see a Chinese restaurant in town. My husband ordered a few different items from the menu and everything including the soup was Very sour and made from chicken nuggets. The staff was very nice and seem to try very hard but the day and a half we spent in the bathroom when got home was enough for me to post this review. I am one that would love to see Sutherlin thrive with great food but I think an honest inspection needs to be done to check refrigeration issue and how long food is being kept passed expiration. read more

The Chinese food here is not as authentic as we had hoped. Although the portions were very large, the flavor was lacking a bit. One thing we did like was the fact they put their orange sauce on the side (for the orange chicken) so that it didn't get soggy. That was much appreciated. The person who took our order was also very friendly and helped us with a few selections. We were looking for soup and for some reason the soup didn't have much broth. It was packed with veggies and dumplings, though, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just wasn't what we were looking for. We may have to try again in the future some time. read more

We are just passing thru to california, almost didn't go due to 3 star rating. what an injustice, we had wonderful service, great food, in a exceptionally clean environment, very reasonable prices. I love their egg rolls! Guilty pleasure of mine. I posted a picture for you. I ordered the kung pao shrimp a few days ago and the house fried rice. Portions were great, and the delivery driver was also very friendly. I called them back today to order some more egg rolls and I told them I thought they might have mixed up my order last time. The owner was friendly and he sent over another order of kung pao. They made it extra spicy for me. Sometimes people around here don't love spicy food. I ordered take out on Oct. 2nd. Upon walking in there was a man at the counter also picking up his food. All I heard was, "Bull Sh!t!" as the man continued to yell at the young waitress. I held up my hand in his face and said "NO!" in an authoritative tone. The waitress was understandably upset by this man yelling at her, but pulled it together and told him "I work here, I work here, you can't talk to me that way." She took his food back to the kitchen whereas this angry man told me his "woes" about him not getting his order right and it makes him ANGRY. Really? I told him he has the option to not come here anymore, but NOT an option to yell at the staff. I was impressed with the owner/cook who came out and told him to go outside as he ushered him to the door. Hopefully, he was asked not to come here again! The owner(?) had his waitresses back. Way to GO! No one should ever be yelled at. Especially at work. The restaurant was busy, and the food was DELICIOUS! Shame on you Sir, for totally ruining this young ladies day! The service was great, but only servicing three tables at the time The owner should go to Chen's or Chi's to see how to improve, but when your the only game in town it is what it is. Best Chinese in Sutherlin. MarFar is perfect! They can sub tofu on any dish, which I love... friendly staff and clean restaurant. Haven't had a single thing there that is bad. They do fry most chicken dishes, so if you don't like that, just ask prior to ordering. read more

Went to this place with a large family group for a birthday dinner. The dinning area was large and fairly clean and the wait staff was courteous and very attentive. The first time the wait staff took your drink order your glass was never empty after that, very good service. When the food came, it was hot and plenty of it, very delicious. I was in Sutherlin a few nights. I was very happy with my meal. I am veggie/vegan. The menu doesn't say it, but their very tasty tofu can be substituted instead of meat in many dishes. Either something is wrong, or the item is different than the last time I ordered it. Our visit started out on a bad note when the waitress seated us next to a family with a screaming little boy of about 3 or 4 that they seemed oblivious too. Douglas county doesn't have much in the way of amazing cultural food. This establishment is good not amazing but good. The staff is very kind and friendly. It's family run which I give them extra credit for. Additionally they are open until 10pm, an aspect of their business I personally appreciate. I'm sucker for fried wontons and their mar far chicken. Wish I could tell you how disgusting this was. I decided to drive to a nearby (17 minute away) Chinese food restaurant because I love Chinese food. I love Panda Express, and tons of others in eugene and Springfield. So I thought I found a lucky find of a restaurant. I was wrong... I ordered the pineapple shrimp, and spicy beef. & egg flower soup. They gave me so much egg flower soup it could fill up a whole pot. I should of known then by the portion of soup they gave me that it wouldn't be pleasant for $4. It had very little flavor but a smell that made me sick to my stomach and I love egg flower soup it wasn't like it was my first one btw. The broth of the soup was congealed like it was old or something I don't know I'm not a soup expert. I wanted it to be my holy grail but I only could stomach 5 bites and I gave up trying. So I put it in a pot and tried to feed it to my dog and he took one lick and ran away from it . As you can see from the pictures he's disgusted and won't go near it.. the shrimp. The shrimp itself quality was like any medium sized shrimp from the super market which was pretty good. The coating/breading was not very good and kind of coconuty, there was no sauce originally on the shrimp it came with the breaded shrimp and pineapple in the to go box and sweet and sour sauce separate. The wet pineapple made the shrimp soggy in some parts which made it worse. The sauce made it taste even more disgusting. The spicy beef is only spicy in the sense if you think ketchup is spicy. It tasted like a mushroom sauce or something I don't even f'ing know how to describe it. With a hell Ton of vegetables that I didn't know what to do with! Honestly this place seems like it's open mostly because probably people see it as the only Chinese place nearby them and don't want to drive an additional 1 and a half hour to somewhere decent and just want "meh or okayish" Chinese fair or hasn't had delicious Chinese food before... stay away please don't waste your money like I did today, I'm just happy I ordered a pizza right before this so I could have something to eat that was nice. read more

The place was hit or miss when year ago. Now it has gone downhill. Cheap Chinese food is usually good anywhere. However, we went there on a Sunday night with 8 people, and none of us rook more than a few bites. The tea was Luke warm- barely above room temp at all- we all had near full plates my tea does not need to be piping hot, but after a sip I could tell that there was a reason, that we were the only people in the restaurant. We were the were for a while with family, that had all just flown in that day for the holidays, and no other customers came in. In fact, all of the staff hang out in the back, so we were literally the only people in the front of the restaurant except when our order was taken, the food was dropped off, and the bill at the end. We all took nearly full plates of food home, and no one could bring themselves to eat the left overs. My mother-in-law tried to force the kids to eat it he left overs one night, and they refused. We will never eat there again. I have gone to 3 restaurants in Sutherlin and one in Rice Hill that were empty- even the town's pizza restaurant We try not to be picky, but again we all barely touched lure food- it was all unappetizing just heated up and worse than low quality.
