Walked in and was sat pretty quick which was nice, ordered took 5 minutes to get drink order and then another 5 to get my drink. Ordered a bento, order of orange chicken, 2 miso, and food my bento was dropped off first then the orange chicken which my kids were splitting was dropped off to the wrong table. Waiting an extra 15 minutes for the orange chicken with no explanation, I asked the server for plates to split and she never came back to check on us or to refill drinks or drop off the plates that were requested, she never came back to ask how the food was to which she would have found out there was a hair in it but never got to tell because at that point I was just annoyed at the lack of service and lack of attention we received. I never was able to get the check at the table, instead had to go to the sushi bar to get it. I will not be coming back. If I could I would ask for a refund but at this point it would probably be ignored just like my presence was in the restaurant. read more

This is Japanese food made by Chinese people in the Utah desert, so ignore all the great reviews unless that's the kind of Japanese food you're used to. It was absolutely the worst Japanese food I've ever eaten, but I'm from the SF Bay Area and I'm pickier than most.. My girlfriend ordered the crab Rangoon and it was made with the imitation crab and mayo filling from the California rolls in fried wonton wrappers. Once I saw the Chinese chef. I ordered the beef with broccoli, figuring it would be good, and it was definitely beef and broccoli, but the sauce was a strange approximation of what a Chinese person thinks a Japanese teriyaki sauce is, or at least what tourists in the Utah desert will accept as a Japanese teriyaki sauce. Who would have thought that small-town Price, Utah would have a great Japanese restaurant? Not me! But I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it out last night with my in-laws, as they suggested it as their new favorite place. It's rather small, but does offer sit down dining. We were immediately greeted by a staff member who appeared to wear many hats. She was acting as host when we walked in, but then disappeared into the back. Our server was friendly and eager to take our orders and bring us our food. Once we had our food, however, we did have to flag him down for drink refills and to order another roll. We tried a few different rolls-the California (of course, gotta start basic), the Firecracker and the Bagel. The California roll was safe and a little bland. But the other two had tons of flavor. They were absolutely beautiful on the plate. And when the guy who created the masterpiece brought them to the table, he was glowing as we oohed and aahed at the display. He was proud of his work, as he should be. I also ordered the beef and broccoli, which I dare say may be the best that I've had. The beef and broccoli was cut into bite sized pieces, which many places forget to do-or assume that my mouth is giant and I prefer large chunks of food. My experience at this restaurant was somewhat disappointing. Service: 2/5. I called the restaurant 45 minutes ahead of time to place a pickup order for 9 pm (their closing time). When I arrived, I was told that my order was still being prepared and that it would take about 5 minutes. It actually took almost 15 minutes. I do wonder if they even started working on my order before I had arrived.. While I was waiting, a family of 4 entered and was seated even though I was told the restaurant closes at 9pm. Food: 3/5. We ordered a sushi appetizer, a sashimi appetizer, a sushi deluxe, and an octopus salad. The presentation was excellent and the portions were generous. Most of the fish were fine, but the tuna was odoriferous and the octopus was really bad. So we went here for dinner for first time, visiting family. The staff is nice and very efficient. I think they were maxed out on occupancy and doing take out but damn they were fast. We have been looking forward to trying Sakura since we saw they were opening. We usually have to wait to travel outside the county for good Japanese food, but were excited to finally get it here, close to home. The food was delicious, and there were items on the menu we had never seen before. The restaurant may be an old fast food building, and the decor may not match the previously existing seating, but it was clean. The staff were friendly and attentive, quick to fulfill orders and clear tables, and seemed to strive to make sure we had everything we needed (even though it was a very busy night). And that's all we need. Good food, great staff, and a clean restaurant. Sakura fulfilled all the requirements I need to enjoy a place and return again in the near future. Stopped at Sakura after my mum had a work conference in Price and told me about it. Just so happened my friends and I were making a purchase in town that same weekend, so we went! And I sure am glad we did. The service was wonderful, the waitstaff was so kind and attentive and respectful. Kudos! And then there's the food. Oh my. It was amazing! I love exploring menus when I'm out of my hometown, so we ordered 4 house specialty rolls to try. They were delicious! All 3 of us were stunned at our first bite, and then had to have everyone try each roll and each time the feedback was 'wow that's so good'! The prices seemed standard for sushi & the rolls were so large I'd even venture to say it was even a bit cheaper than standard! I'd rank this on my top 5 favorite sushi places in Utah without a doubt. I'll be awaiting the day these guys move their location up to Draper Utah lol! ;) There are far too many mediocre sushi restaurants in the salt lake valley, we could really use a place like this. I did have a problem once. it was my and my husband's anniversary, we went in sat down, and ordered, it took them a while to take our order, and then I got my food first and it took them about 20 minutes for my husband to get his. Lots of different flavors to compliment each other. I was so amazed that they had sushi options with soybean wrap instead of seaweed. (I actually liked the soybean better). The shrimp tempura was very yummy and always one of favorite things to try. The teriyaki chicken was good, a little peppery for my taste but still decent. And each meal comes with soup, salad and fried rice all of which are very flavorful. As a side note I always judge a Japanese restaurant on their Miso soup.
