Making our way back to Colorado, we knew just where to go for lunch. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed on Sundays. Utah life, am I right? Gladly, we stumbled upon JB's Restaurant in the same town and were pleasantly surprised. Ya gotta love small town service. Sometimes it's just better. The staff were so friendly and our server was freaking awesome. She was so nice and had a pep in her step with every interaction we had with her. Half a sandwich, fries and an all you can eat buffet bar for $12.99.. Where can you find this kind of deal anymore? Well, it's here and it was fantastic. We were driving from Park City to Moab and needed to stop for some lunch. Did a quick search and settled on this place. Totally reminded me of somewhere I would have gone as a kid. Most places don't have salad bars anymore. Little issue, we were seated in the back at first near the restrooms and there was an odor, of sewage. Not what you want to smell at a restaurant. We asked to move and the hostess was like yeah, I was just saying it smelled bad. Ummm then why not acknowledge that and apologize and seat us somewhere else without us having to ask? At any rate, we moved seats and it was much better. We both got the half sandwich, side and the salad bar. For 14.99 it's not a bad deal. We both got the turkey and Swiss but I got mine hot and the hubby got his cold. For my side I chose a baked potato and the hubby got mashed potatoes and gravy. Quick side note, would have been nice if they told us that was on the salad bar because he might have chose a different side. The salad bar was ok, had good choices. 4 different soups, a section with fruit, a taco/nacho section, mashed potatoes with country gravy, potato wedges, iceberg lettuce with all the fixings, and some puddings and rolls. The taco meat looked inedible, the cheese looked like it had been out all day. The chili was good. the mashed potatoes seemed like they were sitting out all day, and the lettuce didn't seem that fresh. The soups were delicious and the salad toppings were fresh as well as the fruits. So it was hit or miss. The sandwiches we got were good. This was a rough one-visited with family, specifically for Grandma who wanted a waffle from JB's, so we happily went along figuring we could find something on the vast menus that we would like. I ordered the turkey dinner with the salad bar. At first, the salad bar looked ok-I loaded up my plate and got nearly through my salad before I found.....a dead spider in the lettuce. That was the end of that. Then the turkey came out. Everything tasted freezer burned and absolutely horrendous. My mother in law (who never complains about her food) ordered the same thing and commented that it was pretty rough, but she powered through it (even more than complaining, she hates wasting food.) We both joked later about how bad that meal was. All you can do is laugh. The server was sweet-she kept our drinks filled and checked in periodically. Whatever you order heed this tip. JB's portions are huge. Four of us were shocked in a good way. I had their Sunrise Breakfast. This thing came ruth four sausages and two eggs with a huge amount of potatoes plus a side of toast. Argh! Overload but tasty! So. I personally think four female gorilla backpackers can share my order. In fact I took mine to go. When you're driving in head behind the gas station JB's is located there. Our server is awesome. The lady in front not so. She was annoyed when asked for a bag. JB's is like a better version of Dennys. Waaay better! By the way is it just me or you too? I kept changing JB's to BJ's. On the outside this place just looks like your average American diner. On the inside... pretty much the same thing. But you know what? The food and the service here are way beyond average. Crispy crunchy juicy savory diner food the way it should be! Staff is super friendly and attentive, the breakfast buffet was a monster of selections, and they even had rockstar energy drinks for those of us who don't prefer coffee in the morning. Tuesday, October 18, 2022, approximately 7:00 pm...the number of health code violations I saw in 10 minutes should have had the place closed down. Fingers in noses, wiping faces with bare hands and then immediately handling food, employees coughing directly on the food in the salad bar without covering mouth and turning away, and on and on. We cancelled our order and asked to speak to the manager. After a lengthy wait, he finally came out, looking none to worried about food safety. When I let him know what was going on, all he said was that they provided handwashing sinks in the kitchen. I am not sure how that helps when the employees are not using them, but he got disgusted and and just walked away when I pointed out that the employees were not using them and the handwashing sinks would not help when employees were coughing directly on open food containers. The only positive point about the visit is that the waitress was friendly. I may never go to a JB's again if this is acceptable behavior. read more

This place is yummy for lunch. Food is always fresh. Always seems to be a decent crowd here. My husband and I split the club. It comes with a bunch of surprisingly good fries. I don't even really like fries. The salad bar is fresh and has plenty of offerings including fruit, pudding dessert, spaghetti, nachos, tacos, and two types of soup. Prices aren't bad and salad bar for 4 year old and under is free. Waitresses are a little slow to refill drinks but. Worth stopping.
