We passed by the area at lunch time and decided to stop here for lunch. Glad we did. The menu has good variety. They serve breakfast and brunch items, sandwiches, burgers as well as regular dinner offering like steak! We had the chicken fried steak w baked potatoes loaded and lamb steak (it said homegrown and their popular menu item). I was glad I opted for the lamb steak! The price was such a steal around $23 came with potato (fries or baked) and soup or salad (i opted for soup so I could share with my little one). The lamb steak came as a 2 pieces bone in chops! Generous portion! I asked for the "Greek style" (they seasoned it with oregano and lemon in addition to the usual garlic salt and pepper) The meAt was tender, juicy and NOT GAMEY! It was perfectly seasoned...so good! Hubby also enjoyed the chicken fried steak! Also generous portion and he had to take some to go. The soup was a bit too salty but it was pretty loaded and hearty. The homemade bread came out fresh as a loaf...they served it with chive butter, very yummy! Our bill came out to a little over $40, such a steal for the amount that of food we got. The restaurant had a "cowboy" feel with western style decor. It's an older place but certainly served delicious food with reasonable price tags. After a long day at Arches National Park, we decided to drive 3.5 hours towards Salt Lake City Utah. After a couple of hours, we started to get really hungry and that's when we stumbled upon Cowboy Kitchen. Plenty of free parking. I'm not familiar with the area but it seemed like a place many locals go to celebrate. We were seated in an area with other families with children (away from alcohol) and they were both celebrating someone's birthday. The host and waitress were very respectful and nice. We were quickly seated. While looking at the menu our waitress brought out some hot bread which was very yummy. It tasted like a mix of bread and biscuit and we loved it. Of note, the butter tasted really fresh and creamy. Shortly after ordering, our waitress brought us all a bowl of soup. I'm not sure what kind of soup it was but it was yummy and it had a similar flavor to Portuguese bean soup. Shortly after finishing our soup our waitress brought us all some salad which we chose to eat with ranch sauce. Unlike the ones in the bottle, their ranch sauce was thick and flavorful. We tried the hamburger steak, chicken fried steak, and breaded pork cutlet. They were all good and reminded me of the plate lunches we get back home in Hawaii (except ours is normally served with rice and macaroni salad) but my favorite was the hamburger steak. WARNING TO LGBTQ+ My amab-non-binary spouse and I went here recently. We were seated in a back dark corner of the restaurant away from other guests. It took over 20 minutes for someone to come wait on us (no, they weren't busy). Come to find out, the servers were refusing to serve us. Why? Because my partner was in a dress! Eventually, a server volunteered and he was a nice individual. I am BEYOND APPALLED at such treatment and service. Of course Wellington is a small town and we expected small town closed minded mentality. We got PLENTY of stares by the other guests and it was expected. But to be refused service!!! Grow up. Stopped here for lunch on our way back from Moab. Place was pretty empty. Had to wait to be seated, get menus, get water and order. Took about 15 minutes to order even though only two other tables were occupied. I ordered a patty melt. It came with soup of the day which was clam chowder. I realize that central Utah is not the best place for clam chowder and it was horrible. The biggest problem was taste. No clam taste and very sweet. My wife ordered liver and onions. It came with a pile of oily curly fries. There was essentially no way to eat the liver and onions since there was no place to put the fries and get to the liver. One big piece of liver was curled almost in a ball since it was so overcooked. The entire dish was tough. She said it was the worst liver and onions she had ever eaten. read more

At least one star is for ambiance. Two are for the food. And the other star is for the service. I took one star away for cleanliness. I knew I was going to like this place when I walked in. Super kitschy and outdated. Which might be off-putting to some, but I love it. I was initially concerned about how the food would be coming from such an old place. There's actually a lot of reasonably priced items on the menu. I ordered a steak dinner which came with soup, salad, potato, and bread. Not knowing what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised to get fresh baked bread and butter. The soup was also very good (pork and vegetable noodle). And this quality continued for the rest of the meal. Even the little slice of watermelon they put on my plate was sweet and refreshing. My only complaint about my meal is the cut of meat I received. It had a good taste and they cooked it exactly as I ordered, but I ended up having to chew through a lot of gristle. So a little disappointed there. The service was slow, and I don't think it gets much faster on a busy day. So this isn't the place for you if you're in a rush. But my overall experience was more positive than I anticipated. On Thursday they have an all-you-can-eat homemade Chicken Noodle soup option (or Lamb Stew) with homemade rolls & peanut butter/honey spread for under $6 with tax. The miniature loaves of bread are adorable & also homemade...even their salad dressings are homemade!! My waitress told me that they use local produce & meat as well. From eating here periodically throughout the week, I've noticed they have a pasta dinner special on Wednesday & a 5-course dinner special (that includes dessert!!) on Saturday. Their fries are hand-cut & made to order so they're not frozen or soggy, plus they give you a massive mountain of them per order. You'll want to ask for a separate plate to put the fries on because they bring you SO many! They do charge for fry sauce though unfortunately :( I always have to ask for a couple of 'to go' boxes for my leftovers because they bring you out SO much stinkin' food! A little pricey depending on what you order, but such a nice place for a family outing or for a birthday dinner. They can also accommodate larger groups in the back of the restaurant too...which is where we usually have to sit with our large groups. If you have a smaller group of people (1-4 people), request to sit in the bar area. I don't eat here as regularly as I'd like--i save it for special occasions (i.e. birthdays, graduations, etc). read more

Assume most of the regulars were done eating by 7am and out working as it was going to be +100 F day. Ordered one of the first items on the menu and POINTED at the item and said clearly: "biscuits w/gravy, eggs over easy, sausage and dry wheat toast." What got served was a side of biscuits w/gravy and dry wheat toast. I asked about the eggs and sausage. She said she could add those as sides but would need to charge for those. ??Excuse me?? The two sides that was delivered cost the same as what I had ordered. Adding two additonal side would have almost doubled the bill. I left hungry. BTW, the gravy and biscuits were nothing special. Twice I've stopped in. First time I took my fiancé for special night and the staff was loud and foul mouth to each other and sitting behind us. My fiancé ask why they were being that way and ignored her. The last time we went sat in separate room and could here it loud. Sounded like it was an argument with a lot of foul language. I stepped of the separate dining area to see if they needed assistance with an unruly customer. No, it was staff once again I asked for the manager. We were asked why , We explained but she didn't get the manager. I asked again and she just went quiet. She would answer when I inquired if one of them was the manager. Waited two and a half hours for mediocre cold food. We told the waitress we were in a hurry and asked for the check to be brought with the food, it appeared 30 minutes after the food was delivered. When asked if they could compensate us in anyway we were told "the menu says we aren't a fast food place" i understand this isn't a damn Taco Bell (which I would have enjoyed SO MUCH MORE) but two and a half hours to get some chicken and get out? My wife and I were on the deer hunt and were looking for a good place to eat. We stopped at the cowboy kitchen, hoping to have a good meal. We were placed in a room that looked like it used to be a part of the kitchen. The room was a bit musty, but that was just a very small part of the problem. We were given a menu then sat there for about 15-20 minutes before the server took our order. We both ordered the chicken fried steak. It took about another 30 minutes for the food to come out. We were given a small load of bread and butter, which was decent. The soup was barely warm and didn't have much taste. The salad was very good. When the main meal came out, the steak was full of gristle, the gravy was luke warm, and the baked potato skin was very thick and tough. The server did not seem to be very happy to deal with "out of Towners". She basically did her job but was not very friendly to us. She was extremely friendly to the two other couples in this room. You could tell they were local folks. Because of the slow, uninviting service, the tasteless and gristly steak, I give the Cowboy Kitchen 2 stars and DO NOT recommend this establishment. read more

I have been coming here for awhile, this past week was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. My steak arrived to the table about 70% fat. This has never happened to me at this place, and I have only ordered the same dish every time I've eaten there. When I mentioned it to the waitress she came back from the kitchen, after speaking to the owner, saying that they wouldn't be replacing my steak and could instead just charge me for soup and salad. I wasn't mad at her, or the rule she was forced to lay down. I was upset at the owner visibly from my table talking about me disapprovingly across the room. So I asked to speak with them, to which she came to my table and just got super rude and inappropriate. I then explained my disappointment and told her I wouldn't be returning. It's a shame when one sour soul has to ruin an establishment you've loved. It's even worse when faced with awful customer service because of something they could have easily fixed without being distasteful and down right mean. Do not come here read more
