    7. Curry Udon and soda. $16.13.

I've been coming here for 20 (25?) years. If DTLA is cold or rainy, I get something curry. Great menu. Lots of choices. Fair prices. Friendly staff. Quick service. Always lots of tables. They don't pretend to be fancy or hip; they just provide good food, quick, friendly, & cheap. Remember to get your parking ticket validated for free parking.

Pretty damn good. Seemed a bit pricey but then again anything with seafood is but it was very Tiny seafood mix. But broth and noodles were delicious. Staff was so friendly.

Food was sooooooo Amazing!!! super quick Service and nice people!!! Such a nice ambiance !!!

    Chicken bowl (takeout)

Their cook and front desk staff have changed, they're now Koreans and the service (and more importantly) the food has greatly improved. They're fast, friendly, and the food is decent. I usually get their chicken or beef bowls and for the price you get a generous amount. It's never too salty, oily, or overcooked. The previous staff here were almost always frowning, did not appear they wanted to be there, and the food they prepared was inferior to what it is now. I hope it stays that way. On top of that, the furniture in the dining area has been replaced. They're newer and cleaner, a welcome and much needed change. Give this place a try, decent food, decent prices, and there's now another new Korean dining establishment right next to them to try.

Our favorite food here is the pork belly curry rice. Extra pork belly is $5 for a small plate. Katsudon was just ok. The price is quite expensive for food court type restaurant, probably same price as dining in at Japanese restaurant.

Does Sakura Noodles allow doggos? Nope, it's located inside an indoor market/plaza. However, there's a number of picnic tables set up outside the plaza. Doesn't look like much but Sakura Noodles has the best kimbap in this area! Their tuna, beef and fish cake ones are my favorites. I love their stuffings to rice ratio. I recently noticed they stopped pre-making kimbap all day like they used to in the past. May be due to sales slowing down. I'd recommend calling them before to make sure they have kimbap!

    Beef Udon and Croquette

If you want to know how it feels to physically be somewhere, but emotionally be somewhere else. This will be the place to help you experience that. Beef Udon Noodles (3/5) While eating this, I kept thinking about Kura, and Marugame Udon. Kura? They're the fast-food style Pieology of sushi, if anything is their specialty it's sushi, but, their side offering of udon is better than the noodle offering here, at this noodle restaurant. At Marugame, I watched the worker spend about 5 seconds making my udon, a literal 5 seconds, grabbed noodle, threw it into a bowl, threw a couple slices of meat, and then pumped a squirt of liquids into a bowl, and that was better than this. The broth tasted of standard beef udon broth, the broth with a lot of umami, tastes a bit of bulgogi marinade, and a bit of beef stock. But the udon noodle was kind of mushy, had the texture of thick spaghetti noodles that boiled 10 minutes pass al dente. The beef's flavor has hints of being marination, but seems to have washed off into the broth. It just tastes like it's been washed off by some sort of boiling process, or it's been diluted, and almost has been fully washed off and now you have boiled beef slices. I felt like the kids in Robin William's Hook, where they were eating nothing, but through the power of their imagination, they were eating a feast. Ah... Kura... Mmm... Marugame... This dish is best enjoyed with very low expectations. So low, there's nowhere to go, but up. Croquette (3/5) The crispy skin, smelled delicious, the crunchy sensation reminded me a blend of Church's crispy chicken skin, and McDonald's hash brown blended together. Very exciting. Then I was greeted by the taste of grainy watery instant mashed potatoes. I was half way through the croquette before I encountered what tasted like, the dried vegetables found in a Nissin ramen cup; a kernel of corn, and a single pea. See photo. What I didn't realize then, was that it was the first and last time I'll ever be tasting a corn, and a pea, in this croquette. Then towards the end of the croquette, a hint of curry powder. I actually enjoy the skin, 4/5 for skin, but the insides were a 2/5. There are a ton of things on the menu, which is great, but if you don't want you restaurant judged by it, probably should take it off the menu. Overall, this place is "okay". It's kind of like getting a pre-made sandwich from 7-eleven. It's not great, barely even okay, but... it'll do.

This place is located inside the Little Tokyo Marketplace. It's very convenient location, after or before doing your grocery shopping you can grab a bite to eat. Food is okay, and they're not pricey for the amount they give. Service is fast, really convenient.

    And another disgusting table.
    Adjah S.

Dirty! All their tables are dirty. When I asked, very kindy one of the staff. The guy with a shoulder length curly hair with such a disgusting attitude. Actually, he already gave me "the attitude" when I asked him what's the difference between tonkatsu ramen and pork ramen. He said, "tonkatsu is tonkatsu. Pork is pork." with a sarcastic face. I got so irritated. Good thing my husband stopped me because I was about to say something he wouldn't like. Lucky for that guy. I hope the owner sees this and fires the man. He doesn't deserve to work in a service industry. I will report this restaurant to the Health Department.

Beef Udon. Once a dependable childhood favorite - but these days, it's a bit of a crap shoot as to how good it'll taste ...
    Dan L.

Years later, this hole-in-the-wall contains to remain a favored lunch spot for me. Yes, prices have slowly creeped upwards due to increases in labor costs and what not, but the meals here are still cheap and reasonably tasty, all things considered. All that said ... is it just me, or has the beef in the soba and udon gone down in consistency of quality of product/preparation over the past years? I kind of feel like the tastiness of the beef has become a total crap shoot depending on the day you come here, and as time goes on, it seems like I'm rolling 2s, 3s, and 12s against the Beef Pass Line more and more frequently ... :( P.S. Don't forget to have the cashier validate your parking ticket for 1 free hour.

    5. Chicken Udon
    Kiki L.

When I got there, there was no line, super kind elder lady took my order. I got the chicken udon, shrimp tempura udon with no green onions, and a side of the shrimp tempura. The order came out in like 5 minutes. The food was hot and fresh. I tried the chicken udon, the chicken came in a separate bowl. It was super soft and mushy. I'm not a big fan of the chicken, but my boyfriend enjoyed it. I asked for no green onion on my udon but they still gave it to me either way. My shrimp tempura was super delicious and hot. The tables were kind of dirty, there isn't anyone to clean the tables. Some of the chairs' cushion was ripped.

Old world service is sort of hybrid these days in that you can order dim sum standards from the checklist menu, and there will be servers coming by with kitchen specialities on trays (or you could order them directly from your server) and add anything from any of the 3 different main menus. A nod to old world service hierarchy which may not be clear to visitors: the ordering beverages and condiments, and general table requests and check out is from the gold vested servers. Red vests handle food to/from kitchen. Black vests and plain white shirts are management. Everyone will be attending to the entire floor, so if you're feeling neglected or need attendance, catch an eye and wave at a gold vest. When you call in orders, you'll speak with a black vest. Prices are higher than WK nearby but the quality here is higher and the selection is much wider. GD is also really good at mixing up menus, so you can have a great congee with preserved egg and youtiao (the stick donuts), a Singapore seafood noodle dish, a braised duck hot pot, and 20 different dim sum all at the same place and high quality throughout the meal. There's a paid parking lot next door, plus metered street parking. It's generally ADA accessible. Restrooms are waaay in the back of the restaurant. Portion sizes were adequate for me, but I wish there was slightly more given that our table included many people. In addition to our group, an even larger party of people dined in such that they filled up more than half of the restaurant. It can definitely be a popular gathering place for lunch at times. Valet parking can get difficult when the lot gets full. A few cars entering the narrow driveway had to reverse out of the way to let others leave. The kung pao chicken was very tasty with a good amount of spice. I noticed that the slippery shrimp didn't taste as spicy as the portion from Pasadena. Reviews say that the spice is adjustable. It's been sitting on my saved list for a while, and honestly, this turned out to be the perfect opportunity. The space itself is bright, clean, and welcoming with warm woody tones throughout. Casual setup where you order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. I had already looked through the menu beforehand, so the real challenge was narrowing down what to order for one person. I failed at that... and I'm very happy I did. Started with the Pig Ear Salad 滷豬耳朵. Braised thin sliced pig ears dressed with soy sauce, chili oil, sesame oil, scallion, and cilantro. OMG. So good. Tender, flavorful, perfectly braised, with that satisfying chewy texture done right. Also got the Fried Peanut Salad 五味花生 with garlic, cilantro, scallions, vinegar, and Thai chili. Super crunchy, bright, refreshing, and honestly addicting. I added a cup of the Hot & Sour Soup 酸辣湯 too. Organic tofu, beech mushroom, carrot, bamboo, woodear mushroom, and egg. Super comforting with a really balanced tang and peppery heat. Not overly thick or heavy like a lot of Americanized versions can be. Exactly the kind of soup you want during a long travel day. For noodles, I ordered the Dan Dan Noodles 擔擔麵. Sesame-peanut sauce, cucumber, cilantro, crushed peanuts. Delicious on its own already, but I ended up adding some of the fried peanuts from the salad into the noodles and it became even better. Then the Three Cup Chicken 三杯雞 with sesame oil, soy sauce, rice wine, and Thai basil. I do wish it had a little more wok hei, but overall the flavor was still really comforting and savory. Extremely good with rice. Had a glass of Gewürztraminer alongside everything, which paired surprisingly well with the spice and aromatics. Their wine list leans more organic / natural wine focused, which felt very LA in a good way. Ended up sitting at a high top next to one of the managers and had a great conversation throughout the meal. She ended up hooking me up with the Traditional Shaved Ice 傳統刨冰 with grass jelly, red bean, boba, sweet potato balls, taro balls, brown sugar syrup, and condensed milk. I was already planning to order it anyway, and wow... I finished the entire thing. The brown sugar syrup was incredibly fragrant. Packed the leftovers to-go, and that ended up becoming my dinner after landing in San Francisco later that evening. Flight cancellation somehow turned into a really great food day.

Multiple people kept turning around looking at them, and still nothing. In fact the male waiter vaped inside the restaurant with them. Very unlikely I will recommend or return.
