Wow, reading some of these negative or so-so reviews, these patrons sound like uneducated spoiled brats. "Onion" soup, uhm... it's Miso Soup. And then the people who walked in before they were open... and then got upset because no one had told them that they weren't open.... again - this is a cultural thing. I find that Asians do not like to confront people, it is considered rude. They probably also thought that the couple was just going to sit and wait until they opened... Others were complaining about the ambiance.... wow. What I want to know is... WAS THE FOOD GOOD! Did you get served? Were the servers polite? How much did you pay? Was it worth it? Was it CLEAN?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Ok, so to get to the answers that REALLY matter... The food was great! Yes, we had to wait for our food. It is a freaking restaurant not mcdonald's! When we came in, we were greeted nicely by the Hostess. The ambiance is somewhat dark and quiet. They have done some really nice renovations with the place, it is clean and comfortable. This restaurant space first opened as Lorenzo's Italian, it sat vacant for awhile before Rockin' BZ Burgers took over. Sakura has totally revamped the space and you would never guess that any other restaurant existed there. It is really nice! Well done! Once seated, the waiter came over and took our drink order. We perused the menu for a few more minutes before placing our order. It took maybe 5-10 minutes for the MISO soup and salad to arrive. The salad was simple, but had a tasty dressing, like I've never had. It was like a Thousand Island dressing with something added... soy? mild fish sauce? Not sure. The miso soup was fine. It too was a little different then I've had... tastier. There could have been larger - or more - tofu. NOT an issue. Just a suggestion. We ordered the tempura,, steak teriyaki and yaki soba. All were very good. from the finishing of our soup and salad to the entree was probably 5-10 minutes. There were several servers/hostesses milling about and checking on customers in our area, though we only saw the original server once during the course of our meal. He did not speak very good English, so it was just as well, as it was difficult to communicate. He was very thoughtful and courteous however. The food was a little pricey, but not any more (in fact less) then the other Japanese restaurant, Japanese Kitchen, which was just around the corner and closed a few years ago - this place is cleaner, faster, better food. At the time of our visit, the place was full, btw.
Oh wait, there was something I wanted to complain about, that when we were done with our meal, they didn't ask us if we wanted dessert. So we just paid our bill and left. NOOOOO I am kidding!!!! Because it is this sort of stupid petty bs that these other reviewers are complaining about. Jeese people if you want something more, then freaking ask for it! Stop being little babies and complaining because someone didn't wipe your bottom side! smh
All in all, it was a good experience, very good food, and we will be back! read more
