Let's be honest here. No one expects great food from Chinese buffet but we at least expect decent food. I'm not picky with buffet places but the food here was not even decent. I'm very picky when it comes to buffet and there's no buffet in Jax that can beat the $12 AYCE dinner. This buffet serves a huge variety of food for $12, ranging from sushi to hibachi to seafood and meat. Just typical food, nothing too special. They do not serve oysters and snow crabs, which is understandable for the price. I've been here several times, both during the day (around 5 PM) and at night (8 PM) to compare the food and service. I avoided lunch hours because the food is limited. Overall, this buffet has a friendly and clean environment. The interior is very spacious! The food at 5 PM is great. This is their busiest time, which means the service is bad. Since this is a self-service, I do not have a problem with that. In contrast, the food at 8 PM isn't that great. It's sloppy and bland. You can tell it's not good quality from the texture. However, the service is great. The servers are consistently checking on you, making sure your drinks are refilled and plates are removed. Overall, this place is okay. I will definitely give another try and see how it goes. read more

We've been to many Chinese Buffets around the country. Our basic rule is that if the Hot and Sour Soup is done right, then it's good. This is the first place to bend that rule: The soup was poorly seasoned, short on critical ingredients and appeared - and tasted - as if it had been stored overnight and then reheated several days in a row. However, the food was tasty and the sushi bar was well stocked and prepared. Price was a little high, but that's to be expected these days. The people who work here are very nice and tell you when food comes out if you ask them. The bathroom and tables are clean. Great place to eat with friends or by yourself. All you can eat places have expectations and this place meets them. The service is good, we didn't have to hunt down for beverage refills and the grill chef was great. The buffet has a variety of different items and was kept hot filled and fresh. I imagine the sushi was good but I didn't try it. However, they dont pride themselves in the dessert selection. It was definitely not one of there better attributes. Mass produced low quality cakes and sweets that were placed on table still in shipping packaging. There's always soft serve icecream. My favorite is the grill, choose your own selection of fresh vegetables and meats including shrimp and he does a "chop chop" with your choice of seasoning on the wok grill. I'd I could leave zero stars, I would. This place needs the health department called on them and I just might do that. I specifically informed the manager that the cold buffet for the hibachi had meat cross contamination (shrimp in the chicken) & (steak in the shrimp) bowls. I have a shellfish allergy and wanted to try the hibachi. Well, they do not honor your allergy and will not cook it separately on different grill. They have everyone food on one grill and they had someone else shrimp pieces in my veggies. I just walked away. My son threw up from the food and overall quality was a disaster. I had to go talk to the manager again because they charged my 10 yr old as an adult. Manager was very much short, dismissive, and didn't give a f*ck. At the front counting money and never went to fix that cross contamination. I even told the server and not one person fixed it. I don't know how they're still open. read more

This is a typical Asian buffet place that is located in the shopping center right off of Atlantic Highway. I had never been there before and decided to stop in for lunch. I was surprised at the cleanliness of the place to start off with. They offer a wide selection of various dishes Asian and non Asian. They offer a very wide selection of sushi items as well. I was very impressed with the flavor and better than expected quality of the food offerings at this place. They had a wide variety of seafood and dessert options as well. This is a great place for a buffet, great service, got our drinks refilled, took our plates.. The food is a little dry, but they have a grill guy, he just overcooks things a little bit and gets plates mixed together, definitely have a good wide selection of items at the buffet. The down side is they don't understand much English, so when you ask to charge your card more so you can give the grill guy a tip as well as the waiter, they do not understand, so either ensure to bring extra cash for tips, or be prepared to try and explain that you want to tip the "BBQ" guy, that's the only way they understand is writing BBQ tip on the receipt. So I wrote tip for waiter, and BBQ Grill tip of the receipt, then she understood, the whole time hovering over my shoulder while writing on the receipt, I understand, you're just trying to understand, but that is quite annoying to have someone hover over your shoulder.. read more

The shopping center they are in is not in the best condition. The entry to the restaurant seems worse then the condition of the outside. The inside appears to be clean. The Grand opening brought us in when I received a BOGO coupon in snail mail. So Ernie, Autumn and I went. It was great. They have an man who will cook whatever you put in your bowl(Mongolian BBQ),they have sushi, and other Asian delights. We have been back a couple of the times. Tonight, was different. From BBQ ribs to salads and a variety of sushi and even a full hibachi grill there is everything available even for a picky eater. Enjoy crawfish on ice and several other seafood dishes. Needed several trips to taste everything. Nice little hint is to use a soup bowl for the soft-serve ice cream! My husband and I visited last Friday for dinner and left with full bellies and a full wallet. I'm not a huge fan of buffets (aside from a Sunday brunch spread!) as a general rule, but my husband is. He was desperate to try this new Asian place as we have recently seen their billboards and ads in the Red Plum coupon pamphlet. I have to say, the place impressed. It was clean, very spacious and offered countless food options to choose from. There are several different "bars," each devoted to their own assortment--one cold, with a variety of ready-made salads (think cold octopus salad, broccoli salad, kim chee, etc) as well as greens and lot's of veggies to build your own salad, plus mounds of assorted shellfish on ice. Then you have your hot bars, the sushi bar and a make-your-own-stir fry bar. Even someone who doesn't fancy Asian fare will find a ton of variety including ribs, chicken wings and baked spinach to name a few. For me personally, the standout dishes were the hot and spicy crawfish and the Asian sesame donuts. The crawfish are outstanding, with lot's of red pepper flakes and pickled jalepenos in the sauce that coat the crawfish. YUM. For dessert, I was pleasantly surprised when I bit into the small, warm sesame-coated donut to find a slightly sweet jam (plum?) filling. It took serious will power for me to not go get a second donut but, as that was my third plate, I decided to forego it. :) Lastly: the bill. $10.99 per adult for the dinner buffet. And if you clip the coupon from the weekly Red Plum, it's buy one buffet, get one free! I have a sneaking suspicion we'll be back. read more

(4+3)/2 = 3.5 stars Last time I went here, this place was just recently opened and they had a very good selection of decent quality food. So I was a bit disappointed when I saw the recent bad reviews of Sakura Buffet, and I was hesitant to return again. My wife was craving buffet, so we came here on a Wednesday afternoon. The sushi buffet is still pretty awesome. Is it as good as sushi at a real sushi restaurant? NO! But for a buffet, they are pretty darn good! I did notice that the size of the sushi was smaller than last time I visited, and it was not as fresh. They still have the shredded imitation crab and seaweed salad, which are both pretty expensive at real sushi restaurants. They also had cocktail shrimps, oysters, and crawfishes. For the other food at the buffet bar, you have pretty much a 50/50 chance of finding something good. I sampled a bunch of different food from chicken wings, sesame balls, orange chicken look-alike, beef with broccoli, Chinese dumplings, etc. Many of the items felt like they had been there for a while and are not very good, especially the fried items. They do have a lady walking around to make sure that the buffet stations were clean and bringing out new food periodically. Overall, for a Wednesday afternoon service, the food was not too bad, and we were satisfied. It was also very cheap! It only costs the two of us $16 including tax, and we probably ate $30 worth of sushi alone! This place is perfect for a baller on a budget. I would assume that the selection and quality of food would be better if you came on Friday or Saturday night (that's when they usually have ducks!). Not a fan. From the start things were no good. The place was empty when we (5 of us) arrived, and we had about 8 more family members meeting us for lunch. Staff would not allow us to put tables together, and worse, they said they could not guarantee that we would be able to sit together. The place was empty!! And the whole time we were there tables were seated, but the place wasn't packed! So we sat at two tables. Fine. Two of us had a coupon that had a free adult meal with the purchase of 5 or something. We were told we could not use two coupons (even with separate checks) because we were one table! -_- Yes, after they refused to let us sit at one table together, and basically told us we may not even be able to sit at tables near eachother. Food was either meh or "no way". I meant he "fresh" sushi had slimey looking cucumber in it!! How does one think it is ok to put slimey cucumber in a sushi roll...would they feed their family like that!? Overall, I didn't like the place. Service was not nice and the food wasn't yummy to me. So a friend of mine who asked me twice already about going here finally heard a "Yes" from me. I had heard that this place was nice but I thought "Oh, another buffet". This isn't just another buffet, this place is amazing! Walking through the front door you'll see the "pond". Instead of real koi fish there are ceramic fish and a waterfall wall. How pretty. Walking into the dining area, I was stunned by the decor. Everything was beautiful and Asian-inspired. I've never seen a buffet so clean! Even not a crumb of food anywhere on the floor. The servers were very attentive in refilling drinks and taking away dishes. I went after my favorites on the buffet: green-lip mussels, shrimp balls, cheesy spinach, green beans, and several different kinds of chicken. No noodles for me. They also had oval-shaped sweet yeast rolls which were kinda good. The one downer for me was the pan fried dumplings. I went to pick some up with the tongs and they were hard. Sakura Buffet has something for everyone. The food selection is massive. I tried about 15 different dishes and I didn't even cover half of the buffet. Everything tasted good and the buffet was maintained and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Not a quiet place though with so many customers, it speaks well about this place. This was my first time trying this establishment out. We came in for lunch at 12:45pm on a Friday afternoon. There was a nice crowd but the place is quite large. We were seated right away and ask what we wanted to drink. There is a large selection to choose from. There is also a sushi area with an adequate amount to choose from. I tried the fried rice, several beef and chicken based dishes, some stuffed shrimp, fried shrimp, lo mein, green beans among others. I did not have any issues with all that i tried and found several quite good. I actaully enjoyed my experience their. They also have a large dessert selection along with soft serve ice cream. My bill for 2 buffets and drinks came out to exactly $22. I recommend this place for chinese buffet if your ever in the regency area off Atlantic avenue. read more

The service is good and the price of $12+ pp is fair enough for a buffet dinner. Our son actually liked the foods he ate (he picks up 2-3 items and that's all he's having) and he said, the bathroom was clean and nice. I want to agree with him since our server was nice, but unfortunately, we may be in the same place, but we have very different food choices and experience. There's not much of an option, but for the price we paid, I wasn't expecting much either. Let's start with the pizza, which our toddler usually picks: I had to tell her it's not good so we just had to go to the hibachi so she can have rice and egg fried rice instead. Why, there was about 3 pieces left there and they looked super old and dry, so I said to myself: I'll give her the fried rice first, then come back for the new batch of pizza...on the hibachi bar there was no rice tray, so we went to the rice cooker by the hot bar, but it was empty! So I went to get rice that were already fried, to be refried with fresh eggs. Crawfish- me and my older daughter's favorite. This is the reason we're in Chinese buffets, bonus if there's fried/steamed crabs and shrimps. Unfortunately, not only the crawfish tasted old and a little tough, they were also salty. I tried masking the saltiness by adding more lemon and butter, but it doesn't work. As much as it pains me, we had to waste our plates of crustaceans to save our kidneys. I made our server aware as politely as I can for their sake and others, don't worry. The dumplings: thick wrapper, dry fillings. But the shrimp and beef hibachi grill was good. Shrimp on skewers: tough and dry Seasoned beef on skewers: tasty and tender, but cold. Fresh batch of pizza: barely had cheese on them, so still can't eat. Crab rangoon: right crispiness and filling is okay. This is one of those places I just have to try almost everything to see which one I can eat more of to satisfy my tongue and tummy, but unfortunately, none did except for the fried bananas and that soft, sponge cake with a crispy crust that I don't know the name, which was really good. I got full on those :) Oh, and their soft serve ice cream is so creamy and soft, loved that, too! Overall food experiece was unsatisfactory for me, but the service and friendliness of our server was really good... but what really turned me off the most, was the ladies' bathroom. Our toddler had to go so I brought her there, pausing my dinner. As soon as we came in it, there was a strong, bad odor we smelled that made me gag and my toddler covering her nose saying "it stinks!". No one was in any cubicles at that time, tissues everywhere, too. Luckily, i always bring my own toilet seat protector for our toddler so i was able to make good use of it. But the scent, not sure what it was or where it was from, but surely made me gag a lot, and that scent remained in my nose for a few more seconds after we left the bathroom. This time, I can't tell the server, there was so many people around, and everyone's too busy. I just hope they found that out and fix it and keep checking it for the future. Their food taste and temperature can be corrected, and so is the restroom cleanliness so there's still a good chance that everything will be better. For us, we'll have to try some other places next time we're in the area since we've already tried this place and had our share of experience. read more

Came here with my family today on Sunday. Because of circumstances, we had our small chihuahua with us. I've taken him with me to many restaurants. Many busy restaurants as well. Not once has someone ever told me: no dog allowed. When we told the manager we can't keep him in the car because of the heat, he said: "Then you can go somewhere else. Bye." As a result, my father had to sit out and stay in the car with our dog while the rest of us ate. Very rude manager. I get that it's a business, but really? No hospitality or customer friendliness whatsoever. Don't come here. Food is gross as well. Everything was cold and tasted old. Worse buffet in Jax. Their options aren't great either. They have other great dishes as well and I've never not been satisfied. They always keep the food fresh and hot which is an added plus. This restaurant also houses a Hibachi Grille included with their buffet. They have sushi options and a great salad bar. They offer a variety of sweet treats that pair well with the food selections you've chosen to fill your belly with.
