It was warm and delicious, the more I drink the better it tasted. They do have a large selection of Sake but I'll check it out on another visit. More Sake please. This is a new location for Sakura but there are many "Sakura" already running successfully around the city; the kitchen and service reflects their experience; they are humming! Four of us had the Delux box with came with misco soup, small salad, small Calif. rolls, 1/2 cup of steamed rice. We also had a choice of shrimp and veg. tempura or steamed shrimp dumplings. The dumplings were good but the tempura was a little dull; lacking flavor. More Sake please... The decoration is very nice; quality hard wood panels, and candles. I just think the very low blue low light is difficult on the eye. Do I look good in blue light? More.. Sake... plezz.... The food was above average, the Tofu and Vegs. OMG. SO GOOD. I just moved here and sushi is a very important part of my life so I'm sooooo happy I found this place. The raw fish is so fresh and delicious. The menu has everything I could ever want with many unique items. Spicy Mayo was on point (sounds simple but so many places get it wrong). Hibachi fried rice was slappin. Katsu chicken- amazing. Don't miss the jalepeño bomb. They send a free California roll with takeout orders over $30. Let me tell you. I don't even like California rolls but I inhaled it cause it was that good. It's not one of the very fancy, expensive sushi places but the food is very tasty for a reasonable price and its staff is very friendly. This has happened to me twice. The first time I thought it was a mistake then today the same thing happened. I ordered Salmon, Avocado, Jalapeño peppers sushi. Twice they put sweet peppers thinking that I don't know what is Jalapeño peppers. I've passed by this place for at least 3 years now on my way to work so I've always wondered how they were. Finally got that chance on Labor Day-my usual go to place Mitoushi just down a few streets was closed so my husband and I decided to finally try out this place. We ordered the baby tako appetizer, a la carte sushi (salmon, tuna, yellowtail, mackerel, scallop, sweet shrimp) and the 3 roll combo. The baby tako dish is comprised of 3 layers - lettuce salad, seaweed salad, and the baby tako. There was a long piece of hair in the salad so we sent it back - and I'm pretty sure they just took it out and replated it, added some more seaweed salad. Not much else was said between us and the waitress. Then came the rest of our order-they got the sweet shrimp wrong and gave us regular shrimp instead. When we told them it was wrong they insisted it was correct and then later told us they were out of sweet shrimp. Other than that everything else was okay-honestly it was good but the way that things unfolded just kind of put a damper on the entire meal. The waitresses are super nice and always attentive. Free unlimited sake starts at 4pm and it's with a $10 minimum of dinner. The specialty rolls (vary from $10-12) are different from the usual that you can find everywhere and the sashimi are generous pieces and taste as fresh as they can get in NYC. This restaurant was given an A by the health department, but read the actual violation and it says "Live roaches present in facility's food and/or non-food areas." which confirms much of the coments here by reviewers mentioning the sushi chef picking his nose and people finding hair in their food -- these folks aren't clean. I also can't understand these ratings from the health department because to me, roaches, rodents, filth flies, etc. equals an automatic FAIL not an "A." This post is mainly for pick up/delivery & lunch box. The first time I order from here was pick up. I got the chicken katsu lunch box. It cost 8.25$ but w tax is 9$. To start w the chicken katsu itself is actually really good. The katsu had flavor and it is quite crispy. The miso soup that came w it taste like seafood miso soup but I like it. The salad I wish they can pack the salad sauce individually bc the sauce ain't enough. The shumei is delicious. The California roll the roll itself is big. For delivery, it is actually really fast despite it was raining. It took them like 15-25 mins to get here which is a plus. Overall, I do recommend to come here to get the lunch box.
