What a find! So glad this place is here. It's for sure small and a little odd looking from the outside but man I can't rave enough of how everyone should come and give this place a try. The prices for the food is great and no Asian restaurant in town can compete with this. And a drive thru? Crazy stuff.... The only true weird thing about this place is the music. No song ever ended in its entirety and the type of music ranged from modern pop rock to country and back to upbeat techno lol. I'm mostly never disappointed ordering from Sakura. The food is cheap, tasty, and holds up well as leftovers for days. Out of the several times I've ordered, my only complaint is the warmth of the food at pickup. We stopped by Sakura to grab some quick carry out. When we arrived around 6, it was packed. There were people waiting for their food and waiting to order. We got through the line pretty quickly to order our food and people were getting their orders pretty quickly as well. We ordered the hibachi chicken and shrimp and got an egg roll for the side. The eggroll was way too greasy. When you bite into it you can taste the grease squeezing out. The hibachi chicken and shrimp on the other hand wasn't greasy at all. It had great flavor, the chicken wasn't dry, and the food portion was huge for the price. One thing that stood out was the service. The employees were super nice and polite. I was pretty surprised by that. We would definitely go back to Sakura. read more

I know the world is a strange place right now and posted hours for restaurants and stores may be incorrect. But, I pulled up to the drive thru at 9:13 and the woman said, "hello, how are you today? What can I get for you?" I started my 2 item order and she cut me off to say "I'm sorry, we are closed". I told her their website says 9:30 as closing time. She said "that was before all this quarantine stuff". Dude, you JUST asked me what I wanted, and I saw Door Dash people still coming in. That's not cool. 4/14: went again around 6:40. I still really wanted this place. Waited in the drive thru for about 10 minutes. My order was read back to me correctly. Got home and my husband's sushi wasn't right. I just ordered from here for the first time. I ordered sweet and sour chicken, and a side of fried rice. My Doordash delivery driver handed me a very heavy bag.. I opened it to find two containers: my chicken, 2 sides of rice, 1 eggroll, and 4 different sauces! This is enough to feed me for two days! And everything is delicious. WOW! That is what I ended up saying out loud when I chewed on my first sushi roll of some sort. This place was recommended to me by my boss and actually, because it is International Sushi Day today, I wanted to see what was up. Apparently, everything at this place, sushi wise, is 50% off. Few things I was a bit wary about was that they do not list the items you buy on the receipt and there are no labels on what you actually buy. So if I ordered four different kinds of rolls, which I did, I could not tell you what was what. Maybe I could look at the takeout menu and tell you what kind of seafood it was, but nope. Additionally, they list prices as 50% off, but one would have to wonder when they actually charged these original prices (or are they competitor prices?) If I were to jack up a price to like $10 and say that it is actually $5 when you buy it, is it really worth that much or am I doing it for a selling tactic? We just wasted $50 on delivery. Tough and improperly cleaned shrimp, stringy chicken and mushy rice! I took one bite of the crab salad and deemed it a health risk--a warm room temperature flop with questionable mayo-like dressing. I would have sworn some of the entree vegetables came from a frozen mix. Please don't waste your money. This has become a regular go-to for carry out sushi. They have a drive thru and also offer online ordering in advance which are both convenient. They offer a variety of basic rolls as well as hibachi and some noodle dishes. All of the sushi rolls are really affordable, and they offer a few "fancy" rolls that are more substantial. This is a cheap sushi place, and you have to keep that in mind when eating here. It's honestly not the freshest or most well made sushi in town, but its value is unmatched here in Lexington. Basic rolls are about $3 each, and they're on par with other low-mid tier sushi places. You're not going to find cheaper sushi than this. Service was quick and friendly. We had our food out the door in less than 10 minutes after ordering. I tried the hibachi as well, and it was mediocre. Portions were large but not really anything to write home about flavor wise. You know what else ain't bad? The half price sushi when you order to go. Now for half price, the sushi won't look like art but the taste is the same. Its a sushi place with a drive-thru! Is there anything more that needs to be said? Inside is small but it's decorated nicely and minimalist. Staff are very friendly. I was skeptical about the sushi quality but A+ easily on par with Happy Sushi and other places. I typically go for the Veggie rolls, my favorite is Sweet Potato and I honestly think theirs is bigger and better than Happy Sushi's. You have no idea how excited I am about this place. We got takeout here and I'm giving 5 stars because of the hibachi. The shrimp was amazing. The fried rice and veggies and accompanying sauce made for a great meal. Husband got steak and shrimp and was equally pleased! The crab rangoon was some of the best we've ever had as well. Only disappointment was the sushi. I ordered delivery from here this afternoon. I ordered gyoza, yellow tail with jalapeño, 2 pieces of white tuna nigiri and 4 rolls. I requested that avocado be left out of all but one of the rolls, as I am allergic. Two of the rolls had avocado, and I was short one piece of nigiri, even tho I was charged for it. In addition, the yellow tail had no jalapeño. I made a special note for the driver to please bring a large bag of ice. That was also left out of the order. Disappointed, to say the least. Drive through sushi/Asian place right by my house! I did a call ahead order. I went and tried to pick it up through the drive thru.... however line was very long with people who were waiting on their food. The food is super cheap. Sushi rolls 4-5$, hibachi 10$. The taste/quality was mediocre. For the price I guess the food was OK, but I would rather make the drive out to Osaka for fresh sushi rolls. The hibachi was not that great. I got the steak and shrimp. The shrimp was battered in a strange way.. wasn't the nice grilled shrimp I was expecting. The vegetables weren't sautéed properly, and I got about 4 cups of rice. Overall not impressed with this place. Could satisfy an on-the-go craving for a sushi roll. Improvements they could make: Have an area of the parking lot where customers can wait in their car after ordering through drive thru line that way you can keep orders moving. Only got sushi: The deep fried soft shell crab in the Samurai roll was weird and not edible in several pieces of the roll. The seaweed wrap in all of the rolls was very chewy - I normally don't notice it or need to chew it that much. We ordered the Godzilla roll, but was just spicy tuna with avocado and yum yum sauce on top (no crab meat, no black tobika, no crunch to the tuna.) The Hawaii roll was fine... it wasn't wrapped with seaweed inside the rice, it was some chewy whiteish wrap (maybe soybean paper?) It wasn't stated that it would have anything different as the sushi wrap. read more

It's definitely cheap sushi, but it is actually pretty good for the price. We can get a ton of food (including sushi, fried rice, and lo mein) that provides us with a big dinner and a few lunches for around $70. And they prepare it pretty fast and accurately. It is great for a week night and they even have drive through (which can take forever - much better to call in your order or place it through Yelp/Grub Hub and then walk in to pick it up). Wow what an incredible find. My daughter and her boyfriend have been raving on this place for a year, so we finally got to try it with them. It's housed In an old KFC building, away from the regular hot spots in Lexington, this quick service hibachi restaurant has excellent food at a fraction of the price you pay at a full service Japanese place. Service was excellent, and the amount of food they give you for less than $10 per meal is amazing. Three of us had hibachi steak and rice, which comes with vegetables and an egg roll, and one had hibachi chicken and rice. Was out in 5 minutes and was excellent. I am usually a huge fan of this place, but today was an absolute disaster. It seems as though they need someone to actually manage this place. Everyone needs a role. There is absolutely no organization! They need a person on pick ups, a person on counter orders, a person on the window and a person answering the phone. They need someone to box and bag. And they need to be more professional with one another and the customers. As far as food goes, I'm totally satisfied. Truly.
