The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and willing to go above and beyond. I typically work with two regular sales associates, depending on who is available when I come in, and both consistently provide outstanding service. They truly take the time to help you decide what works best, whether it's comparing sizes or selecting the right style. Whatever you need, they will go out of their way to find it. During the holidays, they also offer beautiful gift wrapping upon request, which is such a thoughtful touch. I highly recommend Saks Fifth Avenue. No matter who assists you, you can count on professional, attentive service. CAUTION - do NOT buy anything from Saks Fifth Avenue at this point in time. I bought a $900 gown. I tried it on one time. I was perfectly clean (freshly showered)had on no perfumes or deodorant - promptly shipped it back in the original packaging and on time. It was sent back to me in a crumpled up box rolled up into a ball with a little piece of paper that said that it was " returned in insalable condition". I have tried and tried to remedy the situation to no avail. I have learned that they have filed for bankruptcy and perhaps that is part of the issue but in the meantime, I'm out of 900 bucks! DO NOT PURCASE ANYTHING FROM SAKS: I purchased an evening gown for $850, ordered it through a store associate at the Troy/Somerset store because they did not have my size and I did not want her to miss out on the commission because she was helpful. I received the gown in a mangled box; the dress was thrown into a plastic bag. I tried the dress on once and decided the fit was not right for me even in the new size. I returned the dress (even purchased a new FedEx box because I didn't want the dressed damaged in the box they sent me). I received notice that it was received, and it would take 7-10 days to process my refund. After getting past the 10 days, I called customer service and they reported it as claim to the Troy store. Days later I followed up again as still no refund. They put another note in my claim - they said they didn't know why the store hadn't refunded my money. A few days later I received the dress back with a note stating that the dress was unsellable because I had worn it. Tags intact and never worn. I called the Troy store directly and asked for a store manager to discuss my refund. A snotty and rude associate said why can't we help you with this why do you need a manager. I frankly said I needed a manager because I didn't want to explain my situation again and again as I had already done through customer service. She reluctantly transferred me and phone rang and rang - with no answer and no voicemail option. What kind of manager does not have voicemail. My next step is to drive the two hours to Troy to see if I can resolve this issue in person. I will say after reading the many reviews on not just the Troy store at Somerset but Saks in general, I'm not hopefully. There was even a class action suit filed against them due to their return policy and lack of refunds. I will NEVER purchase a thing from Saks again. Men & women shoes are a complete unorganized mess, lots of mismatched boxes and shoes, from this year alone on 3 separate occasions I've had 45s in a 46 box shipped to me, a 37 with a 39 tag on it & my favorite a 39 mismatched with a 41 and a 41 box.......every single time I missed out on a pair of shoes bc they couldn't locate the correct ones I thought I paid for, sales associates are defiantly the ones to blame. I called on the 12 business day to inquire were my credit was and I wax told the would escalate the request to credit account manually. I stopped in Saks at 8:30PM to try on a specific pair of Gucci boots that I have been eyeing. I quickly looked over the shoe department. I asked a long dark hair full figured gal if I could try on black boots size 38. Her reply was how about I try on the boot that was on display. She said it is rather large, but you can see if you like it. It must have been 10 plus huge! I asked if I could try on a similar 38. She said I can order you a boot then you will have it. I replied I can walk down to Gucci and probably leave with the boots. Gucci had them, I left with three pairs. It would be a long time til I decide to venture into Saks again. The website customer service agent quelled my second bout of disappointment though by finding this beautiful bag at the Troy, MI store. I was connected to Melissa in Prada handbags who was super patient with me and my out of state credit card woes. The first credit card I attempted to use needed authorization for out of state purchasing with an agent on the phone. -pain in the ass... So I used an alternative card easily authorized instead of sitting on phone being on hold. She said the bag would ship on Monday. So Tuesday I called for tracking info. AWFUL, HORRIBLE, WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE. I WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS IF POSSIBLE. My son had been wanting a certain pair of $220 jeans for a month. He saves his money well, so he can afford nice pieces from time to time. The Saks in Troy, MI is the closest place that carries them, & it's a 5 hour round trip from our home. We finally take him to get the jeans last Sunday. We get home & the security tag is still on them.. The cherry on top, was when I tried calling during the week around 4pm, to talk to someone. My main purpose being to see if there's a way to either get the tag off ourselves without ink destroying the pants, or to see if they could at least give him a refund of half the pants if we made another special 5 hour trip to come have them take off the tag.. idk, something!.. ANYTHING?! I call the number on the receipt.. I get a recording, to which I *press 5* for a department.. I select men's clothing.. a girl answers the phone, I ask to speak w/ a manager.. she asks what it's regarding, so I tell her. She says, okay.. I'm gonna transfer you, but if it gets disconnected, the extension is 5161 & his name is Michael for when you call back.. it immediately disconnects. I call back, go to the option to put in an extension.. put in 5161. It takes me to basically the same recording as when the number is first called. I put in 5161 since that was an option.. it rings once, then hangs up.. I call back & do all the same, & it rings twice & hangs up.. called back a third time & pressed zero for an operator.. it immediately disconnects. I call back & just select men's clothing again.. this time, a man answers & was polite, but ultimately says there's most likely nothing his manager can do, checks with their loss prevention security ppl about removing the tag, to which they tell him the only way to remove the tag is through their system there, so I'd have to bring them there. He expressed sympathy for the situation, took my number & says he'll check with his manager if there's anything he'll do.. I never get a return call back. I understand ppl make mistakes, like Alex, the cashier.. however, it was the only thing we purchased. It's not like we had 10 items & one was just missed. This is an obvious lack of proper training on Saks' part. The worst part tho, was the frustrating, waste of time run-around I got when simply trying to call the store to speak to a manager. The recording directive is a joke & obviously, the manager must tell the employees to avoid sending him any phone calls to address any issues. This store is basically pathetic. I'm just glad my son knew to keep his receipt safe. The pants were $236.. the first trip was $50 gas & 5 hours.. now it looks like another $50 gas & another 5 hours of travel just to get a security tag off.. ‍‍‍ I don't even know if I have the energy to try to speak to anyone when we get there in person.. they obviously don't care about their customers. The only thing worse than not being helped at all, is someone being a dick to you. I went into Saks in my epic quest to locate holiday apparel. I was looking for something glam. After her failing miserably at Nordstrom and Neimans, I made the long track down to the vast wasteland that is Saks. I'm a big believer and never judging a book by its cover. So I was shopping in my usual baseball cap, wool coat, and athleisure apparel with my trusty platform Van's. So I essentially look like your average middle-aged woman. Which I am. I make my way to the designer section, and there is no one to be seen in this entire store. There are no shoppers there are no associates and there is questionably any clothing on the floor as well. As I'm dancing in the way back, making my way towards Chanel finally someone appears out of a portkey to see if I need any assistance. I explained to the woman that I'm looking for a dress for New Year's Eve. She responds "this is the designer section" . Look, there are days when I don't have time for stupidity, and then there are days when I feel like it is my sole purpose in life, to entertain it from my own amusement. Today was the latter. Since she made a statement and didn't ask a question, I replied, with "I see that". We stand there for a few moments and awkward silence. I realize at this point that she is not going to engage in any type of useful conversation. So I proceeded "do you think you may be able to help me find something?" She then says to me, and I kid you not "we don't have much in your size in stock. There wouldn't be much for you to try on". I'm a size 8. Repeat, a size 8. Listen man, I'm a Xennial, and I've waited my entire life to live all my Julia Robert's dreams on some sales associate with a bad attitude that clearly skipped lunch in favor of an extra dose of Adderall, and today was that day. The lady in the Stella McCartney purse section was so patient with me, holding my jacket while I tried and re-tried bags on. They have a Channel, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Celine and some I am missing. I have never been so upset as to write a review before. I returned a dress from Saks simply because I did not like it on me. I tried on the dress once, and immediately put it in its original packaging and returned it. Saks refused my return claiming there were stains on the dress. I called to make a claim and sent picture proof that the dress did not have stains. They still denied my return. When talking to the supervisor on the phone he was very short with me and simply said "there's nothing we can do" I even asked if he saw anything in the photo that would make the item damaged or stained and unable to return and he said no. He just kept on saying theres nothing he can do and hung up the phone on me. Simply the worst customer service interaction I have ever experienced and lost my money for no actual reason. On Friday, March 24th, I went to saks fifth avenue at the somerset mall in Troy, MI hoping to find the shoes of my dreams for my wedding this June. I found a pair of Valentino heels that I thought were going to be perfect, sadly when I took them home and tried them on with my wedding dress it was not what I had envisioned, they just didn't go together. The next day, March 25th I returned to Saks fifth Avenue to return the shoes I had bought a day prior because they just were not going to work with my dress. I was unfortunately met with one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a retail space. Melinda Liaskos, assistant GM, asked me if anything was wrong with the shoes, I let her know that they just didn't look good with my dress. She took the shoes out of the box looked at them and said these have been worn we will not take them back. I calmly explained that I had purchased them the day prior, and while they were tried on once with my dress they had absolutely never been worn. She then rolled her eyes at me said these are not in salable condition and I'm not taking them back and turned around. Again I calmly told her that they were sold to me in this condition the day before and now I am increasingly upset that I was sold an item that Melinda had deemed "unsalable". I calmly said these were sold to me yesterday can you please tell me how this could have happened and I was sold an unsalable item in your opinion again she rolled her eyes and turned around. After being called a liar and feeling attacked and demeaned I started crying and shaking, I had never felt so personally attacked and at the same time let down by a company of such high standards, selling me a luxury item that the GM said should not have been sold. As I was crying she walked away went upstairs and left me there not to return. In the mean time I spoke to 2 other store managers who looked at the shoes and said these have not been worn, but unfortunately, Melinda Is above us and there is nothing we can do. I have photos and documentation of all of this. As a bride, just looking for her dream shoes I am absolutely crushed. This is no longer about the refund and money, but more so about being demoralized in the middle of the store in-front of numerous customers and employees. I've never felt so attacked in my life. As a communications manager, if one of my employees treated a customer like this, I would want to know. Hoping this can be used as a teaching moment. Always have been a fan of Saks, until now.. I've gotten more quality service and better professionalism at JCPenney's.. I was home in MI (on 12/28) for the holidays and went to Saks in Troy to buy some gifts. I purchased items from Saks shoe department and ended up returning them 48 hours later due to incorrect sizing. The employee took the item, my credit card, and headed to the back to process my return. The employee comes back with a receipt and says that the return would be credited to my card (THIS IS ALL ON CAMERA IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SHOE DEPT.) Unfortunately, that refund never happened and since then I filed several motions with Amex. Each motion has been declined as Saks tells Amex that they handed me $614.80 in cash in the middle of the store to refund the payment while the employee had ensured the funds would be credited to my Amex.. Once again, this is all on camera and I NEVER received any cash (especially since this was a credit card purchase).. I have NOT been able to get in contact with anyone at Saks of Troy. After calling numerous times, I've been left on hold for hours and when I am able to get a hold of someone, I am told that the manager will call me back in 24 hours, which they NEVER happens.. This issue has been an ongoing issue for 2 months now.. I even reached out to Saks GM Salome Christian on LinkedIn. However, as you can expect, there has been no response and she has declined my invitation to connect and disregarded my message. How can I justify spending my well-earned money at a "luxury" retailer just to receive the poorest level of customer service for NOTHING in exchange and am now out $600? You'll have a better time buying an $8 chicken sandwich through a Chick-fil-a drive-thru than a $600 pair of shoes from Saks of Troy. read more

He started to pick two items while a salesman just stared at him for five minutes. He then replaced a garment that my nephew moved. How rude! Absolute worst and most horrific customer service experience in my entire life. Based on researching Better Business Bureau and Facebook posts, I am not alone in this experience. There are so many other good and honorable retailers with integrity (offering the same products) I will not buy from this one again. FYI....my dissatisfaction arises from Saks' failure or refusal to refund a defective David Yurman ring that Saks lost when it was returned within the warranty period. After the store customer service received the package, they did not give me any calls to verify the reason of the package return. They return the products that I have been waiting for without asking. After I found fedex returned my order without delivery three times, I talked with my sales to make sure he can find the package and resend it to me. But no response until I asked him again a week later. He said he did try to find the package. But the customer service returned it without checking with the purchasing sales either. Most of the Neiman Marcus staff I encountered just couldn't be bothered with helping me. (read my other review). So I made my way to Saks for a completely different experience. Every section I went to I received exceptional service. From the Bond no.9 fragrance counter to the Cartier watch section each employee treated me with dignity and respect. The highlight of my visit was my experience in the Men's shoe department. Larry was great. He answered every question I had and was very patient as I tried on quite a few different pairs of shoes before I made my final purchase. I even received a hand written thank you letter from him a few days after my purchase and he has even called me to let me know about upcoming sales and offered to ship whatever I wanted free of charge. I really miss my local Saks as I used to receive this same high level of service. I really wish they would come back to Pittsburgh. read more

I purchased a pair of off white sneakers for my birthday on Tuesday. Sunday I look and the price is different. I'm told that they can't honor my price adjustment. If I hadn't worn them I could've took them back with the receipt and repurchased them for the new price. And the people who work there are rude. They don't greet their guest. The pick up instructions told me to go to mens shoes. I'm standing at the counter it's a man there helping someone else not one time did he say I'll be right with you nor did anyone else in the department acknowledged me. So finally after 20 minutes I get the man attention and he said oh they changed the pickup location that I had to go to the handbag section up front. I walk up there and it's two women who look like they was friends shopping. So I walked to the counter and seen another lady helping a young woman and proceeded to wait. Now another young lady comes to the area and the woman who I thought was a customer greets her. So I said dang I didn't know you worked here I've been standing here waiting to pick up my order. She goes to say well you were over there and I didn't see you. I was helping her. I told her I walked right pass you guys. It don't hurt to say hello I'll be there with you in a minute. This store was an absolutely disaster this past Saturday (June 27th, 2020). I walked right in here where there was no line or doorman counting and organizing social distancing like other stores have, the place was packed and a complete mess. The only reason it has 2 stars instead of 1 is because of two sales associates that were absolutely amazing and super helpful; Rebecca and AJ. AJ was in the mens department and I pulled Rebecca for help from a different department because everything was so chaotic. I wanted to look at two different pairs of sunglasses and the wall was completely disorganized, we couldn't find them so then Rebecca checked on her iPad for me and they had one pair in Houston or I could order online - I chose to order online. I then asked for the Jo Malone Myrrh and Tonka cologne and they were out except for the tester (which was almost out as well). I wanted to take a look at the wallets which AJ helped us out with, they have a terrible selection at this store, they offer maybe 10 wallets and they're not classic wallets, they are all logo look at me wallets for 16-21 year olds who want trendy items - not classic pieces you can have for years to come, not to mention half the wallets were out of stock anyway. This store had boxes everywhere, no social distancing, it was a MESS. I recently had an amazing customer service experience at this location. I have large feet and unfortunately, that means limited options in my size at most retailers. My husband had bought me a pair of Louboutins from another retailer that ended up being too small when they shipped to our home. After a hassle at said store, I ended up at Saks to repurchase the item. The staff was unable to find the shoe I had originally wanted in my size but was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful in helping me select a similar style that I am absolutely in love with. Despite not having the item in store, they were able to find the shoe at another location and have it shipped to my home. What I liked about this experience is the sales staff was considerate enough to wait to charge my card until they were confident the item had shipped. I appreciate this as I have had many experiences of having been charged for an item only to later learn that it wasn't even available. I went there about 2 months ago with my friends. It was my first and LAST time going there because they DISCRIMINATE. If you're young or a minority (in my case I am both), you're going to be followed, or watched and they'll make you feel like as if you don't belong or you can't afford to shop there, even though I sure as hell can. The only department I went into was the shoes so this review is based on that. The whole store was nice and clean I noticed though. I was previously at Neiman Marcus right before heading to Saks. Neiman Marcus (read my other review) was not so pleasant. So I came to Saks to hopefully have a better experience. I had a great experience! One of the men working in the shoe department noticed me right away and asked if I needed assistance. I told him I was looking to get sized in some Louboutins to see if I would find them comfortable. Unlike Neiman Marcus, he brought out the shoes (both feet instead of only one foot) and let me walk around in them. I didn't know being allowed to walk in shoes I'm interested in buying would be such a luxury. When I decided that the shoe was a nice fit for me. He gave me a Saks business card and wrote his name, number, the shoe style, and size on it. Comapared to Neiman Marcus, this experience was AMAZING and I would recommend Saks over other similar stores. read more

Every time I'm at the Somerset Collection (which is pretty damn often), I make it a point to stop by Saks Fifth Avenue. Even if I'm not planning on buying anything, I will go there just to say hello to all the wonderful employees there. Every single employee at this Saks is kind and smiling. I don't think I've ever encountered a rude employee here. Tammy and Megan at the CHANEL cosmetics are just phenomenal, so is Lamia(I hope I'm spelling it right) in fragrances. I prefer shopping here than at Neiman Marcus, where the employees are very pushy and some won't even acknowledge you unless you're dressed like a million dollars. But that's for another review. I'll admit, they probably don't have HALF of the stuff as the larger Saks stores, but they still have a huge selection of items. As of late they have made HUGE strides in improving the store, seeing as the building is almost 50 years old. All in all, I highly recommend visiting this wonderful store if you're ever in the area. read more

I tried ordering a pair of sunglasses over the phone (they are not available online and I live in a different state) and not only is the hold process a nightmare, but after 30 minutes of being on hold when I finally got a sales representative they were too incompetent to place an order over the phone. I was told by the manager I had to physically go in the Saks store near me to order them because I wasn't already in their "system." Well I wasn't in the system because I do all my shopping at Nordstrom and unfortunately they didn't carry the brand I was looking for. I will NEVER be giving my business to Saks again. They have the WORST customer service I have ever experienced and the sales associates only care about getting their commission. read more

I love shopping here. I was a loyal Nordstrom shopper for years. The girl I worked with there is now at Saks. I made the switch and couldn't be happier. They have everything Nordstrom has plus brands that Nordstrom in Michigan doesn't carry. Ask for Kristina Djordjeski, she will make your shopping experience that much more enjoyable! It's Saks, so it's definitely good. The Saks in Michigan is totally terrible compared to other cities, but it's what we have, so it will do. There is a lack of shoe designers in store, but it satisfies my in-person shoe shopping need when it arises. The Chanel offered in Saks is an issue for me, very few items to lust after, but I am glad we have it. I recommend the cosmetics department, the layout is spacious and the staff doesn't attack you with "help" like at Nordstrom. read more

I don't shop at Saks Somerset often. I think I went to the NY flagship far more when I lived there. The only reason I bothered to go today was that the website indicated that a product I wanted was in stock. Alas, neither the product nor Saks' staff was present. Actually, staff members were physically there, but I would not describe them as working. They were just hanging out, having a chat in pairs and groups of three. Nearly every counter in the cosmetics hall was unstaffed. I would have been better off ordering online. Next time, if I want to pick up something locally, I'm not going to bother checking with Saks, even if it seems to be the only shop with the item in stock. read more

I love this store. The men's department is the best of any local department store. Their selection of men's clothing seems to be of a higher quality with a wide selection of brands. I also like that the store floor plan is pretty consistent from location to location around the country. The sales team members are very helpful and willing to go the extra step to get what you need. read more

I hadn't been to Somerset in a while, so I decided to stop by Saks and Neiman Marcus for their big sales. Unfortunately, the Saks sale is a bit earlier, so not much was left, and the store was awkwardly between seasons. However, a very helpful woman named Leslie assisted me, though I was only browsing. She walked me back through the store to the proper section and spent a good 10 minutes with me showing off pieces, talking about the fall seasons, and much more. She even told me how Saks was the original store and the Somerset mall was built around it (that's why the floors don't line up)!!! As always, it's a very nice shopping experience, though if you don't know where your designer is, it can be a bit confusing! The only reason I take off a star is for a few silly reasons. 1) The only way I know of to go to/from the bottom floor is a slow, hot elevator in the middle-ish of the store, 2) There is no longer Prada in the menswear, and 3) Nothing ever fits me. My mantra is, "I prefer shopping at Saks, but I always end up buying at Neimans." read more
