They had a fire and the building was damaged. This has not been open for a long time.

I have no idea why this place hasn't been Yelped yet. If it's to keep it local, I'm sorry!!…read moreMy only regret is not having found this place sooner. Don't get me wrong, Rio Rico and Nogales, AZ are gorgeous places, but after 3wks, I couldn't find a bar. Sure, there were plenty of them once you cross the border into Mex, or you could find a bar inside a restaurant, but I'm talking about a stand-alone, Alcohol First, Food Second bar. This place can be seen off the 19 and is easy to get to. Once you turn into the parking lot, you are greeted by an huge outdoor patio that contains pool tables, a bar, tv, tables, a grill, and a small Chuck Wagon serving up killer sliders and tasty wings. Inside? Tables, clean bathrooms that when busy, do not be surprised if you see a guy going into the girl's bathroom and vice versa, even so, they're very clean. The selection of beers is really good (especially for the area!). Bottled beers, tap, Jager and Tequila dispensers, and all of the spirits you expect to find at a well stocked bar in the city. The service? Fantastic! Oh, and they have a place for you hook your phone up in order to play your music playlist for all to hear...and no one will steal your phone either :P Gina was the best, never skipping a beat...she even remembered my drink the second time I showed up. Everyone at this bar is friendly and welcoming. I felt at home from the very start. Busy days: Thu (Karaoke), Fri, and Sat with constant events going on. I think there's a wet t-shirt contest coming up too! n_~

It's family friendly and has been a tradition for breakfasts, birthdays for many locals since it opened in 1937. It's also the best place in town for a sitting -at- the- bar drink and conversation. The food has varied over the decades (I'm now in my 70s) but I'm still a fan. The burger and Mexican food has remained primo. The bartenders are locals who most often know their customers and treat pretty much everyone like neighbors. Saturday Karoke nights are my favorite as unexpectedly talented residents take to the mic and change your image of them forever. I think the Wagon Wheel has been written up in the New York Times twice. As one of the last originals it deserves all the attention it gets. To go to Patagonia and not check out the Wagon Wheel Saloon is just a cryin' shame.

Dark beams, creaky floors, mounted longhorns, and a massive old Brunswick backbar that probably has more stories than half the regulars. Walking in feels like stepping onto a movie set, except the beer is cold and the people are real. The menu is refreshingly short: burgers, a couple sandwiches, green-chile stew, and usually a burrito or enchilada plate. Nothing fancy, but everything is made in-house and tastes like it. We were bummed they were 86'd on the beef burrito the day we went but the cheeseburger more than made up for it. Hand-formed patty, properly griddled with crisp edges, good cheddar, fresh toppings, and a toasted bun that held together. Fries were hot and salty. Service is friendly in that small-town "you're not a stranger for long" way. Prices are fair, the patio dogs are welcome, and there's live music on weekends that somehow never drowns out conversation. Bottom line: if you're anywhere near Patagonia, make the detour. Grab a stool at the ancient bar, order whatever they still have left, and soak in one of the most authentic saloons southern Arizona has left.
