This Japanese Sushi restaurant is in the COL. MADRE / CACHO Neighborhood of Tijuana, MX. There are Two Restaurants in this location. Walking in the front door you can go right and dine at ZIBA Cocina Mediterráneo a very nice Mediterranean restaurant -OR- on the left and you enter Saketori-Ya a Japanese Sushi restaurant.
To make things a little more confusing they have a second Saketori-Ya Pub Japonés that is in the La Chapu / Chapultepec Neighborhood Av. Tapachula 7 22020, Tiajuana, MX.
Now for the REVIEW! The ambience is wonderful. Outdoor and Indoor tables and a great vibe perfect for a date night with a special person or with a group of friends. Our server Tony spoke perfect English and helped up pick a few Mexican brewed Japanese inspired beers! He also helped up pick a few sushi rolls as well. The itamae or skilled sushi chef sent out some Real Wasabi for us to try and it is 100% better that the paste type. Make sure you ask for it $4 up charge but worth it! We ordered a seaweed salad and were given two different kinds. Was very interesting to experience the different textures and tastes. The Toro Sashimi and the rolls we ordered were ordered were AWESOME! The preparation and presentation were perfect, the fish was fresh and best of all it tastes wonderful!
Our server also invited us to a Tuna Filleting event or tasting that they have every few months at either one of the two sushi restaurants. They fillet a whole tuna, talk about the process, cut the Sashimi from the different parts of the fish and you get to taste and learn all about it, $60 per person. We will be attending this sometime for sure!!!
