I discovered this spot early August after a couple of my girlfriends wanted to a quick bite to eat after hanging around in the Zona - I have now become a regular of the place anytime I'm in town - hard to find good Asian comfort food in TJ.
The environment is warm, friendly, cozy and welcoming - its a small sit down place that sits around 12-15 people, and people from all walks of life come in here - from the American tourists just in town for a few nights, to the working girls, to families with small children, to the normal workers who work at the various clubs/hotels around the area. Situ, the owner speaks 3 languages (Spanish, English, and Chinese), and he does a great job of making everyone feel comfortable and at home.
Despite its name, the place does not only serve sushi and hand rolls. You can get a Chicken Teriyaki bowl plate for 80 pesoes ($4.50), a large fried rice with chicken and vegetables for 70 pesoes (~ $4.00), and even Ramen soup bowls for 120-140 pesoes ($6.66 to $7.66). Their Beef Ramen is legtimately my favorite - I haven't had better here in Los Angeles, and the cuts of beef they use are so delicious. They can also make you special, custom versions of their dishes on the menu if they have the ingredients available. Drinks are a variety of Coke products and water and sell for a $1, with their in-house sweeted ice tea being a local favorite. As of yet, they do not serve alcohol.
Definitely worth checking out if you just happen to be outside of HK/Adelitas. It's a nice change of pace from eating Mexican food all the time, and, if you're lucky, you might run into a few girls that are on their lunch or dinner break and start a conversation... a hidden perk of eating here. read more
