I got the vegetarian fried rice plate.

The only sushi spot in the red light district. Right across from adelitas. Was walking by to the restaurant next door but saw this new place here and decided to give it a try. It's actually run by Asian people. Prices are reasonable being that it's in the red light where lots of Americans are. It's still Mexico prices. Pretty much everything is $5 for a plate or roll. It's a small place. Worth checking out if you're craving something other than Mexican food. It's cash only

Sweetened ice tea - Best $1 spent for quick hydration.

I discovered this spot early August after a couple of my girlfriends wanted to a quick bite to eat after hanging around in the Zona - I have now become a regular of the place anytime I'm in town - hard to find good Asian comfort food in TJ. The environment is warm, friendly, cozy and welcoming - its a small sit down place that sits around 12-15 people, and people from all walks of life come in here - from the American tourists just in town for a few nights, to the working girls, to families with small children, to the normal workers who work at the various clubs/hotels around the area. Situ, the owner speaks 3 languages (Spanish, English, and Chinese), and he does a great job of making everyone feel comfortable and at home. Despite its name, the place does not only serve sushi and hand rolls. You can get a Chicken Teriyaki bowl plate for 80 pesoes ($4.50), a large fried rice with chicken and vegetables for 70 pesoes (~ $4.00), and even Ramen soup bowls for 120-140 pesoes ($6.66 to $7.66). Their Beef Ramen is legtimately my favorite - I haven't had better here in Los Angeles, and the cuts of beef they use are so delicious. They can also make you special, custom versions of their dishes on the menu if they have the ingredients available. Drinks are a variety of Coke products and water and sell for a $1, with their in-house sweeted ice tea being a local favorite. As of yet, they do not serve alcohol. Definitely worth checking out if you just happen to be outside of HK/Adelitas. It's a nice change of pace from eating Mexican food all the time, and, if you're lucky, you might run into a few girls that are on their lunch or dinner break and start a conversation... a hidden perk of eating here.

If we weren't so far from this branch, we probably would've been regulars here. We came at pretty much peak dinner time on a Sunday and *there was no wait list*--we didn't have to wait for at least an hour and a half to get a table. They had lots of indoor and outdoor seating, but it was so jarring (in a really good way) how quick we got seated and served. Their service was incredibly quick and hospitality was undeniably great right off the bat. Our server Arturo was so friendly and made sure we were taken care of the entire time we were there. Our food came out maybe 5x faster than I expected them to arrive at our tables. We were eating after approximately 5ish minutes of sitting down. The quality of food and the fish in particular was amazing--I'd say the same as what we got from the Mira Mesa location. I do think their nigiris here had more rice, but that doesn't affect the quality or bite of food you get as much. Everything was served pretty much freshly cooked as well--the crispy salmon skin, tempura shrimps, and rangoons were all piping hot when they got to our table. We did get some baked green mussels as well, and those were the only ones we weren't too happy with--they were a little hard and way too chewy. Honestly, it's pretty worth it just to drive down to this branch and endure the drive for a bit than to wait forever just to get a table at the other location. I think it's also worth noting that we got a much roomier table here compared to being forced to fit at a tight 4-top table for 4 adults plus a toddler on a highchair. Overall, we (and our full bellies) were beyond happy with our experience here and will most certainly be back!

This place named itself "sushi bar," but it also says it's an authentic Mexican seafood restaurant?…read moreThat feels like an identity crisis lol. I was given chips, salsa, and an appetizer soup thing in a cup. The chips were fine. I thought the soup was alright. I didn't like the salsa as I found it too watery and lacking in flavor, more like a hot sauce than a salsa. I ordered two hand rolls, a spicy tuna roll and a salmon skin roll. I thought they were good. I found the salmon skin too crispy and deep fried for my preference, but it was still good. Finally, I realized that not only do I never eat authentic Mexican seafood, I'm not even sure what that entails. So I dug through the menu and saw something called "Don Tono," described as stuffed with seafood, but without much other explanation. I asked the waitress what this Don Tono is exactly, and to my surprise, she wasn't sure either. So, of course I had to order it. It was a big thing of aluminum foil with goodies inside, kinda like a seafood bake. It was good, although I found the flavor to be a undertuned. I would've liked some Cajun seasoning. The best texture and taste was probably the fish itself as it was light and flaky without being mushy, and it absorbed the umami of some of the other seafood. I thought the shrimp and shellfish were just okay, and maybe just a tad overcooked for me. Honestly, I was also not a huge fan of the cheese here; I feel like it doesn't quite fit. I also got some rice and salad with it, which were both fine.

I got a couple rolls to go as well as some edamame. All serviceable, nothing remarkable but an…read moreinexpensive option for some decent sushi! Fun decor in this place! When I came in to pick up my food there was no one at the host stand and it seems like there was one waiter running the whole show during busy lunch time. Little teeny tiny parking lot but it's right across from the shopping centre parking so not a big deal.
