Ever since this restaurant has opened it's been my go to place for sushi! The menu has a wide variety of options and the staff is always ready to help or give me time to think about my order. One of my favorite meals here would have to be one of the many chef made sushi rolls, which have their own fun names and unique flavors! For those who have allergies or who don't like fish, don't worry!! They also have noodles, rice, and other dishes that do not include seafood. The staff are very careful about making sure your food is safe when telling them about your allergy or any other concerns. There is a large amount of seating and the wait time on busy days is not long. They also do take out which hives the same experience as sitting in! This was our favorite restaurant by Wolfsboro. I actually think my brother may move into the place he fell in love. The staff is Good humored fun to joke with and they were very efficient. We loved everything we had. I saw a review that the Hibachi rice may not be made to order, idk but it's still really good. I only got the vegetable hibachi lunch entree, so I can't fairly judge everything until I come back, but they were really well cooked and the flavor is good. My friend really liked the sushi rolls, she said they're really big that usually she can finish 2 rolls, but not this time. The drinks were good too. Definitely coming back to try dinner. read more

Cane here at 6pm on a Saturday night and there was literally one other party there besides us. On the West Coast, this is a sign that you should immediately walk back to your car and go somewhere else, but out here you can never really tell. The service is good, but the food leaves A LOT to be desired. Ordered a variety of things, but was generally underwhelmed. The hibachi rice is NOT made to order and I couldn't even say with certainty that it was actually made on a hibachi. The sushi tasted the same or worse from what you would get in the sushi section of Hannaford or Market Basket. Definitely not worth the mark up. read more

First time here and the food, service and overall experience was wonderful. We will be back. The sushi was fresh, good cuts of fish and the sashimi was wonderful with good rice . The spicy tuna roll was off the menu as a request of a more simple roll with no topping and it did not disappoint. My Mother had the steak hibachi that was served with salad, soup, rice, noodles, veggies. All was delicious, fresh and enjoyed. We will be back for dine in, or possibly take out. ***This review is based on an online pick-up order on 08/19/22*** The first thing I will say is that the exterior of this restaurant raises some eyebrows. It did not stop me from ordering from them, but here are a few things. The landscaping is not maintained. One of the doors to enter has a mulch bed in front of it, so I went around to the other door. There's a glass vestibule that was SUPER hot inside. In fact, the door handle itself practically burned my hand. It gets a lot of sun... The interior, which I only saw a part of, looked to be okay. I only went as far as the hostess/host stand to get my order (which was there & ready for me). I saw a few booths, but I was in & out pretty quickly. I stood there for maybe 10 seconds when I was noticed & the employee seemed to know that I was there for the pick-up order. She was friendly! I was impressed that when I said I wanted to pick up the order by 3:45pm, they were right on target (I walked in at 3:47pm). I find that their "Saka Boat for 2" is fairly priced & in comparison to other places, they offer a lot more sashimi. For takeout, they still had an impressive presentation. I will note that they gave us, like, 3 million packets of soy sauce, haha, so they don't skimp! Every piece was well rolled & fresh! Their Spider Roll was one of the better ones I've had. I didn't realize that the meal came with (2) small Miso soups. I had ordered (2) extra large Miso soups because the menu does not indicate that they automatically come with it, but hey, the more, the better! The crab rangoons are okay. I have to try them from everywhere to see who has the best ones. Sorry, they don't win on that one :) I would love to dine in sometime when in the area. It takes me about 30 min. or so from home to get there. I saw some more pics on the website & looks like a cool place to hang out. I'd love to try some cocktails, as well. read more

The service was great. We were greeted immediately upon entering, seated quickly and our server was very attentive. The food, on the other hand, was not great. After reading reviews from others, I was super excited to try the sushi and sashimi. However, it was sorely disappointing. While the plate was beautiful, I wouldn't describe the sushi or sashimi as fresh, nor tasty. My husband had chicken pad Thai and described it as tasting like dishwater. He couldn't eat his meal. Saka is a fine little off the beaten path Japanese restaurant focused on sushi. Don't let the tired strip center it sits in deter you. We were at the Wolfeboro farmers market and decided to stop by for some takeout. It's an adorable family run business with a serene atmosphere. The lunch specials are a great price 3 rolls , soup and salad for $18. The portions are also very generous. They pack the rolls with fish and fresh ingredients and go light in the rice. The texture of the rice was a bit hard but had good flavor. The spicy tuna lacked the spicy flavor punch. But the incredible roll was incredible, packed with shrimp and crab. My kids are excited there is a sushi place in the Lakes region worth going back to. We look forward to trying it again for dinner. read more

Atmosphere/Cleanliness. Saka is very clean, some dust and water spots can be seen sometimes in corners, or where there's that high gloss black finish. Other then that it is very clean. Atmosphere is "eh ok". For NH it's good, but anywhere else it's very "blah". Food/Drink. Food, GREAT! Something's are fine better then others. I think when it comes to American/Japanese/Chinese infused cuisine, people have very drastically differing opinions on what's good and what not. I'll put it this way.... Do I dine there, yes I do. Will I be back, yes I will. Have I ate anything there that was not fresh, good in taste and flavor? No I have not, everything has been delicious. If another Asian Chinese/Japanese place opened up would I stop going to Saka???? Maybe.... Depending on their quality, price etc. Service. Great service. Very quick, accommodating staff! Cost. For Wolfeboro not bad at all! They are not trying to assault your wallet and break you for trying to dine here. Will I be back! Of course and I'm giving them one star for atmosphere and cleanliness, another one for food/drink, toss another one on there for the staff, and one fir price. I drive by here almost daily so we decided to go! Interior was very blah although I prefer booths so it was fine. My friend ordered some sushi I got chicken taki with udon noodles. My meal came with soup and salad. The dressing on the salad was delicious! My friend decided he wanted a salad too but he was refused. They said they can't do that, you can only get a big one as sushi doesn't come with a side salad. Whaaat?? Just charge us for a small salad?? Nope. Keep in mind salad was iceberg, one piece of tomato and one piece of cuke. Taki was yummy but the rice in the sushi was dry. I wish our experience was better. read more

OK, I'm big on ambiance being the driver sometimes in a restaurant, however, Saka is somewhat an outlier. The inside is very nice, it's not Japanese or Thai themed, but it's pleasant and I like it there. I am speaking of sushi edibles here, and it is very good. Let me settle on Ika, (Squid), first, sashimi. Perfectly prepared so it works in the mouth, and wrapped around tiny sticks of cucumber. Never seen it like this and it's great. Ika has to be prepared right or it eats like a basket of thread. If you're a looser like me, who likes hot sake, you have to ask for it a little extra hot, cause their normal run won't burn grandma if it spills. Soups, they could be hotter too, if you want it hot I think they've had some kind of incident in their past where someone ordered a coffee , spilled it in their lap and sued the owners to oblivion. Anyway, back restaurants...Appetizer, my bride loves beef negamaki. We don't see that around much anymore, but theirs is stellar. Great job. The girls constantly sweep the interior looking for empty plates and keep order to the table. They have ample diakon radish threads with sashimi, which you HAVE TO HAVE...thank you sushi gods. I really loved it, found it better than many expensive joints in big cities who tout their prowess, Saka does a great job at the sushi bar, service is really wonderful, and considering the world as it is today, they deserve a five star. read more

I've been to Saka a few times since their arrival in Wolfeboro.....the odd thing is the difference between he first time and the most recent. It's difficult to explain why this establishment was so packed early on and so seemingly abandoned as of late. Location location location perhaps? Anyway, I've yet to have a bad meal nor bad service at Saka. I should've prefaced this review with the fact that I'm a slight sushi whore. It's professionally handmade and delicious. Tonight I had the Tiger Roll and spicy crab roll and quite possibly a scorpion bowl. Service was great. Good and bad. My husband and I both got hibachi combo dinners. The salad was cold and crisp. Clear soup was flavorful. The veggies had a nice variety and were cooked perfectly. The bad, the salmon was an odd cut and very over cooked. Chicken was ok. Tried Saka restaurant today. Boston roll, shrimp tempura roll, and pink lady roll. Absolutely delicious! I am so happy to have fantastic Japanese food here in Wolfeboro! The restaurant was redecorated beautifully with colorful murals, tile, and even a fish tank. Very clean. Staff was friendly and efficient. So disappointed- was craving the Saka Roll. Ordered it to go. Presentation was great but the spicy tuna was not 1) fish nor 2) spicy. I called the restaurant to tell them there was a pasty bright orange layer on the roll covered by avocado. The tobiko was minimal if at all present. We went there last night as we were driving by and saw so many cars in parking lot (a good sign). First off the service was amazing! Ordered a scorpion bowl for 2 it was delicious. We ordered the calamari/shrimp appetizer which was just so-so. A small order for the price. We also had the pad Thai which came with salad and soup. All were very good and I would order again. Went there for dinner tonight. I wasn't expecting such a large menu for sushi but was very happy to see it. Hubby and I tried 7 things we had never had before. HIGHLY recommend for freshness, presentation and taste. Not a lot of tables but that does offer the chance to have a very enjoyable dining experience. They have a full bar for yummy drinks. We stuck with wine this time). Beautiful fish tank and being able to see them prepare the sushi was a fun experience. We threw the waitress a curveball and had her pick out our food. She was taken back but definitely rose to the occasion. Wonderful wonderful people and atmosphere. Will definitely be going back! I am always trying to find a good sushi restaurant in the lakes region, so I will stop when I see one. I always order a caterpillar roll so I can compare. I really enjoyed this one! Tasted fresh, came out quickly and the hostess was very nice. The reason I'm only giving it 2 stars is because what you are looking at in the picture cost me nearly $19 before tip. We have lived in the area for a couple of years now and finally made our 1st visit to Saka tonight. Where we moved from, we were blessed to have a few local places to get good sushi. Up here we tried a few places and weren't happy with them...My wife and I were amazed at how good the food is here..We got 3 rolls, the sweet potato roll, the peanut and avocado roll and the Christmas roll, along with an order of Chicken Pad Thai... All 3 rolls were excellent and after trying just one piece, we knew we'd found a good sushi restaurant close to home.. This place is clean, the staff is very efficient..All in all, we were pleased and will be back when the urge for sushi hits. read more

We tried Saka for the first time and it did not disappoint! I got the Incredible Roll and the Crabmeat Roll. My fiancée got the Incredible Roll, Dynamite Roll, and a Philly Roll. Everything was delicious. Fresh ingredients and very friendly staff. It's a little off the beaten path, not very close to downtown, but it's worth the drive. It's a smaller restaurant with a cozy atmosphere and nice little bar area. Perfect for a date night. Would definitely come back! read more

We decided to try out your restaurant - in hopes of supporting a new local business. Sadly, our experience was one of the poorest we can remember. We ordered carry out. The Octopus appetizer was as tough as leather and we could not even chew it. The Yosenade Hot Pot was supposed to have scallops, shrimp and fish along with vegetables. It had 3 thin slices of fake seafood with the red food color, NO SHRIMP, NO SCALLOPS and a few baby corn for vegetables. For $19.40 this was a huge disappointment. We also ordered a Hot Pot with chicken and vegetables, getting instead, a flavorless beef pot - and we do not eat beef. When I tried to contact the restaurant I was told that I would not be able to speak with the manager or the owner until Wednesday - that there was nobody on the premises. (I was calling on Saturday.). The only person I was able to speak with was a cashier who was unable to do anything about the situation. Sadly, we cannot recommend this restaurant in any way. Tried this Japanese Restaurant? this evening. The reason for the ? mark is that it didn't seem like Japanese cuisine at all. We ordered the Hibachi Filet Mignon rare, with an appetizer of salad, soup served with rice and noodles and vegetables. The meat was cut into stew like pieces, well done as was the appetizer of 2 shrimp that came with the dish. The side dish of sauce was not necessary as it seemed the meal was coated in a some sort of sauce when it was served. I suspect the meat was marinated in MSG. The salad consisted of iceberg lettuce, one slice of cucumber and a cherry tomato was drenched in a white dressing. The restaurant appeared much smaller than the original West Lake and the acoustics were not helpful in preventing any noise. The phones ringing and a very piercing whistle was sounded to notify the servers when an order was ready was distracting and very uncomfortable. Unfortunately we did not enjoy the food or the atmosphere and will dine elsewhere if we want Japanese or real Hibachi styled offerings.
