Been here twice now and the food is quite good. The iPad's work smoothly and the wait staff seem more attentive. I like being left alone to read the iPad if I want to. read more

French Dip sandwich is worth the quick stop. Awesome roast beef, horseradish sauce and Aujus sauces. For the traveler with a short minute....it was awesome airport fare...would order it if it weren't an airport!!!!! read more

Ordered the daily special omelette, in an empty restaurant (two tables full). 25 minutes later, the "omlette" and potatoes come, and they're easily the worst imitation of an omlette I've ever seen. I'm by no means a picky eater, and this thing was inedible. Ended up rationing airline snacks and tossing it. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Friendly people, unfortunately, the food and speed are astoundingly bad. read more

The electronics are balky; card readers on iPads don't function well. Repeated entries; time consuming technology for blah, overpriced food. Awaiting a true upgrade for EWR dining. Yet to be seen. read more

Great service and food albeit a bit pricey unless you are traveling on an expense budget. Amelia my server was super attentive and helpful with suggestions. Food served proton and at proper temperature. Had the scallops and lentil soup, both appetizers totaling $28 plus tip. read more

Unexpectedly pleasant and tasty for an airport restaurant. It wouldn't be four stars elsewhere, but definitely terrific by airport standards. read more

Service was quick, which is good for an airport restaurant. Had a glass of house wine, deviled eggs and onion/bacon flatbread. Wine was OK. Food was flavorful and prepared just right. Both came with a small salad which was fresh, crisp and not overdressed. Cost $41 w t/t. Overall, very happy with the experience. Only full service restaurant in this section of Terminal C. Would return. read more

I'm in Newark Airport just about every week. Sometimes getting a meal at airport is just the way it goes. Food wise I can't say I've had a bad experience with food quality. The service is less than great at the bar. If I ever come back - I'll be sure to get a table. I had to be refunded my pre-paid beer because the bartender was too busy talking with some of the other staff - not paying attention to anything. For the steep prices at the airport - and mandatory pre-paid tip - you'd expect at least better than average service - just dont expect that here. read more

The food is edible, but the service is poor. A couple of staff members are okay but everyone else seemed incredibly indifferent, like they'd prefer to be any other place but here... it's not like you can tip accordingly since the establishment requests gratuity upfront with your order placed via the tablet on the table. If you have other options...I'd recommend walking past this place. read more

I had read about all of the new eating options in the United terminal so was probably expecting too much. Had dinner over a long layover and wish I would have looked a little further, because it looked like there were a lot of cheaper and better options. My waiter was really nice, but it still wasn't clear that I had to order and pay for the entire meal on the IPad before I would get my wine or starter. Then, my wine didn't taste like what I'd ordered, and it turned out that someone had poured the wrong one into my carafe! The only dish I would recommend is the heirloom tomato tartine -- it was really delicious. The asparagus was fine, too. read more

I did not receiver my food until everyone else was done. The servers treated us like an inconvenience to them and the food was terrible and cold. read more

I am shocked at how bad it was tonight. Wedge salad ok. Tuna tartare took so long, they proactively comped it, yet when I took my first bite, I realized the wait may not have been why. I didn't eat another bite. Gross is kind. Also, the wine list has gone in the garbage. Best wine they now offer is about $15 per bottle retail. No options at all. Really awful experience. I travel often, have been ok here before, but this is a new low bar here. read more

This is the worst food establishment in an airport. The fries were either too hard or too soft and the presentation was god awful. The plate was full of blood for the steak and the fish and chips were greasy and had nearly no fish in them. read more

I left my phone at this restaurant and realized I lost it when I was on the plane waiting to take off. One of the staff members ran it to my gate and I didn't get a chance to thank him. If reading this, please respond so I can give you a reward. Thanks man! read more

Fairly good food and ok beer selection. Definitely overpriced though. They serve food reasonably quickly and have good friendly stuff.

Having eggs Benedict . I give everything 4 stars but the sauce reduces it to 2 stars. Order without sauce and maybe ask for a slice of cheese instead. The sauce seems to be something whipped up from a powder. It's terrible. read more

AMAZING beer selection. My bartender is awesome! Great way to relieve a stressful day of traveling!

Just keep walking. I have worked in the service industry for 17 years. This sucks. I don't want to order an over priced breakfast that is sub par, via an iPad. I would like my coffee before my food comes. I'd like my kids to get refills on their water and I'd like my husband's spinach to not taste rotten. The staff is just standing around because what is there to do, aside from refill our drinks, which they didn't. This is a shit business model. I Can't wait to see self service and ipads go. read more

Terrible concept. You order on an iPad and tip at the start of the meal. So the server has no incentive to refill your beverage, see how your food came out, if you need anything else, etc. We needed all of those things. My husband and I both got the burger cooked medium and both of our burgers were dry and well done. Unacceptable for a $20 burger. Also- plastic knives read more

Restaurant itself is ok but nothing to write home about but considering its in an airport.... What makes this place somewhere I'll never return to is it's stupid iPad ordering system. Not only does it directly block you from the people you're dining with it forces you to order everything all at once. And guess what? You get EVERYTHING all at once. That's annoying. What's beyond annoying is that when I was trying to figure out how to pay/ order the server "helped" me and at the same time helped herself to a 18% gratuity for doing almost nothing! I feel totally ripped off. Avoid this place. read more

Saison is where you want to eat in this terminal if what you need is a bit of respite and a civilized meal regardless of cost. I had a very good piece of salmon here, and a good glass of wine to go with it. Four stars for the food, grading on an airport scale (where one star corresponds to Auntie Anne's pretzel mistakes, and five stars corresponds to a sausage McMuffin and a coke). Two stars for the iPad system (you know that bullcrap never works) and the cost. So, (4 + 2)/2 = 3 stars. read more

Best food in terminal C. Shhh, don't tell anyone, don't want it too crowded when I come through. Service is also great as long as you understand that with iPad ordering you won't have a server hovering - just be nice and they will be nice back. Its NJ, geez whaddaya expect? read more

This place is fucked $17 for a warm beer stay away ! I asked why they said it was $'22oz - I have travelled the euros and never paid that got 1 beer ! - be warned read more

This place is hideous. The ridiculous "Flo" iPads for ordering don't even work and it took 20 minutes to get a couple of glasses of wine and a cheese plate. And you get a plastic knife with the cheese plate because of TSA restrictions they say. Because you can kill someone with a butter knife? But you'll get a real fork?? Never again. read more

The food is excellent even by non-airport standards. The waiters are courteous and allowed me to sample the wines before choosing. The filet with pepper sauce is outstanding; great selection of wines. Warm olives also very good. read more

Well what used to be a very good steakhouse in the airport is no more. Changed to a new name, new ownership and unfortunately the food went with it. It is getting worse each year. Was here in 2015 and disappointed in service but food okay. This time the service got worse and the food degrading and the choices reduced. Be careful with the water glasses they are filthy!! The food is okay but the terrible service is just deplorable. If you go to a higher end you expect good service not having to order everything your self, no logic on order of food coming out and when ask for more water it never comes. So ordered an ice tea small glass and never refilled. Save yourself lots of money and grab a table at the bars just down the way. Their steaks are better 15 dollars cheaper and the service is much better. They need to fire the managers and staff pull the auto manuals off the tables and return to taking to the customers and delivering customer service. Terribly disappointed. read more

Flying from Newark to San Francisco on Thursday April 26, 2018 on United. Flight was delayed and decided to grab a bite to eat before leaving as I knew no food would be offered on the flight. I decided to eat at Saison. After looking at the menu (very expensive), I ordered a coke ($4.00) and a burger ($23.75) with fries. The food arrived and I began eating the fries. I asked for mayonnaise as only catchup was provided. When I removed the top bun and spread the mayonnaise on it, I looked at the burger and found not one but at least a dozen dead bugs on my lettuce. Completely disgusting!!! If I had not asked for the mayonnaise, I would have eaten the burger without knowing that dead bugs were in it. I asked for the manager. Showed him the issue. No apology and was simply asked if I wanted something else. I said no and was told I would not be charged. I left without ordering anything else. Where was the quality control? How could no one see this before sending it out? If you decide to eat here, I advise that you look over your items very carefully. read more

Saison - Dead bugs on lettuce!!! - French Near Me - Newark, New Jersey

I travel out of this airport very often at least once every 2months and I have a standing tradition to go to Gallegher's, which is a good steakhouse even though it is on the pricier side. On this trip, I went to Gallegher's and saw that is was replaced by Saison the sign says established 2014. The girls in the front told me, ohh I know we have had a lot of customer tell us, that they visited Gallegher's and eat there all the time, but we have really good food. Okay, I am not a huge fan of French food, but I figured what the hell might as well give them a try even though they took the aged steak cooler and filled it with over priced wine. So I ask her, "what do you recommend?" she tells me the French Onion Soup and the Aged Burger is really good. So I tell her, okay I'll order that. When the soup arrived the bowl had half an inch worth of melted cheese. Once, I dug through the melted cheese, and finally got to this brown liquid thing they called soup I tried a little bit. It had absolutely no flavor besides the cheese, the broth tasted like they sautéed the onion on a frying pan and then added some water, brought it to a boil added 2 dried pieces of bread (yes French bread) and a half inch of melted cheese. Not a good impression for the first time. I doubt I will be eating here again. The aged burger was good, but I was so upset about the soup that I asked to have it wrapped up and took it on the plane. read more

The food was not bad. There are ipads at each table for ordering, which turned out to be very inconvenient. First of all, they block your view of the person sitting in front of you and it is difficult to customize your meal because you cannot directly ask your waiter. There is a small wait staff who are very nice. The food and drinks are incredibly and unreasonably expensive. I would not come back again. read more

Okay. Let's start with the reason it even gets 1 star . . . The wait staff were nice and clearly understood the degree of suck that this place had going for it. This is an airport restaurant, we weren't expecting fine dining or perfection. We rolled in during their breakfast period. Four people . . . 129 bucks. One with Belgian waffles one with steak and eggs another with eggs and bacon and the fourth with a cheese omlette. All food arrived cold. Eggs on the steak and eggs made wrong. No tangible cheese in the cheese omlette. Fruit side instead of potatoes didn't show. Bread products didn't show until reminded. Burned when received. Coffee lukewarm and stale servers from thermos type container. iPad ordering system mixed at best. To make a group ticket you had to use a single iPad of the four on the table which required server assistance because of app crashes and limited programming of cooking options. And cards wipers were not functioning well. Wasted man-hours but I guess that's expected when you use a toy to replace a tool. Save yourself the money and headache by going down the C concourse and getting your meal hot, tasty and at one fifth the price from the breakfast joint in there. read more

Newark used to have a very good selection of restaurants. Now they have 1 with varying names and slightly different menus. The iPad ordering system is obnoxious, inflexible, automatically adds an 18% tip and demands instant payment. The food is overpriced, even according to airport standards. I ordered the srrip steak and after getting the bartender to override their ordering system, was able to get a meal I was reasonably happy with. Overall, another corporate exercise that added "flash", reduced choice and quality while raising prices read more

I had to seek them out to get another glass of water. They brought me the "omelette of the day" that was ordered but the item was not even close to the item ordered. The contents of the omelette weren't at all correct. I found this out after eating some of the potatoes and 1/2 of an English muffin. Never again. THUMBS DOWN!!!! read more

The A-OK rating was for the Prince Edward Island mussels. They were very good. I ordered a meat charcuterie to go. Expectation exceeded reality on that order. The menu had a beautiful picture and what I received looked nothing like the picture. Instead of large nice strips of prosciutto I received teeny pieces. I do not want to order from an IPAD, I understand that people in a hurry like it but not me. Pricey restaurant. Would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Had the steak tartare. Pretty good. Would have given more stars but the sour hostess gave me a hard time for wanting to pick a seat near the front even though the place was half empty. read more

Great service !!!! Great food !!!! We love coming here every time we are traveling..... best restaurant in Newark airport

I eat out every day and know exactly what I want. This is a Real Restaurant, not an Airport come an eat a nd go place. I was a liitle concerned about this place after reading reviews. But I was willing to give them a fair shot and have my own opinion. Service is great- they go extra mile to accomodate all your wishes. We had warm cures olives- awesome Cobb salad- very fresh West coat oysters- fresh and sweet, Brought extra ingredients for my special souce. Burger was very done right, just ordered. Salmon was juicy with crispy skin. Very good wine list. I will come here again if my travel plans will bring me to EWR read more

As part of our travel plans, we come to the airport early to have a great meal at the airport. Thankfully our recent travels have put us in terminal C at Newark and we love eating at Saison. Great wines, fabulous food and a great staff make this place the perfect start to a vacation. We usually start with an appetizer of fresh oysters and a cheese\salad. The steaks are well prepared and tasty. The chicken with the roasted vegetables was excellent. We usually finish off our meal with a cheese platter and another round of wine. A little bit of France right here in Newark. We will be back on our next trip. read more

The food and service was really bad and totally overpriced!! We were there for breakfast. It took more than 15 minutes to get a cup of "cool" coffee then another 15 plus for a dry, over cooked breakfast. It was 7:15 and they told us they had no decaf coffee brewed. read more

Nice looking from the outside, but bad service and an incompetent manager who is unfriendly. Had to ask for almost everything at least twice including the receipt, it's frustrating! If using airline vouchers, like we were doing, make sure you get a receipt showing your credit card was not charged! Didn't feel they were honest at all. Avoid! read more

Though I eat at restaurants many times a week, I have refrained commenting on Yelp but I think it is my social responsibility to do so now. During the course of my dining experience today at Saison, I had no choice but to notice three separate incidents of unwanted guests at my table. The first was a spider crawling on my fresh greens on the same plate as my ribeye. The manager squished the poor spider on my table and asked us if we wanted to re-plate the food. He did not clean the table after crushing the arachnid on it. Then, when I decided to continue eating though my friend decided to not, a small fly stopped by at the table and walked around. The server did not seem to react to my second encounter of the night. A few minutes later, a small crawling bug was on my napkin. Its red guts were not the expected green when I decided it was time to make certain Saison staff knew it had a serious problem. The manager reversed the credit card charge only because my friend insisted. I will not talk about the poor food and poor wine. read more
