This place sucks. 0 service. Can't get coffee 10 minutes after food came. No one tending the bar. 3 employees told about coffee no one cares. Don't eat here. read more

Service is very very slow, and often delivered to the wrong person. I ordered tea for $4, there was a pot of tea on the menus and I received a cup.....false advertising? Don't waste your time eating here, the cold eggs I sent back were not worth the $16 I paid for them. read more

There were multiple hosts when I arrived and I was promptly seated with bread and water. Service was as good as a regular restaurant, if not better. The back room atmosphere was quiet and sophisticated, with French PPP music playing in the background. After my meal, 2 people tried to clear my plate in the span of 1 minute, which I'll chock up to excellent service and not terrible. Bread and butter were both excellent. Way too much butter per basket though (wasteful). I was given a plastic knife. While not the matures person, I think I can be trusted with the real thing! Sauvignon blanc was reasonably priced ($12). 2 diver scallops, perfectly seared and incredibly bland ($16). The cream sauce was nice but too sparse, carrots were fine. The best part of this dish were the miniature brusselspout garish. There literally could not have been more than half a sprout on my plate. The mushroom side ($9) was to die for! Best I've ever had. Large portion of mushrooms (mostly baby Bella with some larger slices thrown in). Served piping hot in a small pot with lid. Great flavor and value. This place is pricey but really not bad considering its airport location. read more

Service at the Saison EWR restaurant was terrible from beginning to end: wait till having food was over half and hour (during which time the server never came to me, just a manager to check); when the food came I had not received even bread & butter (unlike other customers around me); the Manager took it upon himself to service the bread & butter when he came to check on me, and then realized the salad had come without any dressing; the General Manager generously said he'd take charge of the bill. Yet, I still had the dinner charge appear on my credit card, ironically including a gratuity surcharge for the terrible service (!). When trying to reach back to the email on their e-receipt, an error email came back: "Recipient address rejected: User unknown in local recipient table". Too easy to fool people at the airport. I am disputing the charge, consistent with the General Manager's action at the restaurant. I cannot recommend Saison, and will definitely not go back to a restaurant that charges premium prices for lousy, lousy service. read more

Incredibly slow service. Exceedingly expensive. Food was ok, but not worth $100 for a family of five for breakfast which turned into $120 with automatically added gratuity of 20%. We should have taken it as a sign of things to come when we sat waiting and waiting just for a table and watched other people making other choices after waiting for a while. read more

This place deserves 4 stars. While the food is indeed higher in price than outside of an airport it is very reasonable for an airport and the quality of food you get. I had a glass of prosecco and the onion soup. The soup was better than i have had in many nice french restaurants. It's clean, the staff is nice, decor lovely. All in all it was a great experience to pass the time during my layover. read more

The perfect marriage of artificial intelligence and apathy. Ordering through an iPad may be picturesque and futuristic, but it also sucks. I sat at the bar and used my personal menu robot to order coffee while the human employees refused to acknowledge my existence. Took about 20 minutes and some uncomfortable status requests, but I finally got coffee from a human acting on behalf of the menu robot. Terrible experience, but airport, so yeah read more

The quickest items on the menu- Oatmeal and quiche will take forever - horrible, horrible experience. If you are in a rush, or even have an hour or more before your flight, avoid this place like the plague. Sunday, 6:15 AM you would think they'd be properly staffed for breakfast but looks like even the manager was running around. The servers appear to hate their job, annoyed, and ordering from an iPad guarantees you will get no water or coffee refills or ever see your server in sight. I even paid with miles in advance- big mistake. Wait until you're done. And to top it off, food was COLD because it was probably sitting there forever. Bad, bad restaurant- Grab something to go when you're in this terminal- it's really unfortunate, it looks like such a nice place when you walk by. I just wasted 3500 United miles. read more

Not bad for an airport restaurant. Only had the soup as had to get to my boarding gate. Service was prompt and I had a view of the kitchen that was well organized and clean. read more

I really wanted to like this place - a restaurant in an airport that serves French food? You had me at Croque Monsieur! There's something offputting about the place through, right from the start. The place looks like it's higher priced (and it is). You're greeted, accordingly, by someone who seats you. OK, so far so good. But to me, this is where the downfall begins. They have an iPad mounted in the middle of the table that makes it hard to talk to someone across from you. You're required to order from the iPad. In order for them to bring your food, you're required to "check out" - which means, essentially, to pay. I didn't want to put my credit card through the card reader attached to the side of the iPad. Hello? In this day and age of card skimmers everywhere, why the hell would you put one on the side of an iPad? The server who came over took my credit card out of my hand, ran it through the iPad card reader anyway, tapped on some buttons so quickly I didn't have time to protest, and "checked me out". WTF? He explained that this is how they do it. OK, whatever, I only have 30 minutes left, no problem. He brings me my receipt, before he brings me my food. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw a 18% tip added to the bill. Wait, let me get this straight. I order myself. I pay, myself. You bring the plate of food from the kitchen. You expect an 18% tip? Never mind the fact that I wasn't offered the choice, or that you've defaulted the tip setting to 18%? WTH?! Great idea for a restaurant, subpar food (it was OK, but not worth the $20 I spent for a sandwich and a drink) - and mostly, I'm sad that I couldn't tip MYSELF the 18% for the excellent service I gave myself. read more

The food was actually pretty good, but I really want to commend them for was the fact they went the extra mile to resolve a customer experience issue caused by United. It turns out that the United meal vouchers only cover the cost of food, not tip or taxes, which led to a lot of conafusion as we're trying to figure out why we still owed money after giving them more than enough in meal voucher money. After they explained the situation, they offered to give us some extra goodies to make up for the frustration, which I thought was great, as it was really an issue with United. So thanks for stepping up, and showing what true service is. While I'll most likely be avoiding Newark and United like the plague, if I do fly through again, I'll definitely stop here to eat! read more

Beware the tablet in your table, it will take your money and ignore your vouchers. Also it automatically adds an 18% tip for the people who don't take your orders read more

Had a bit of time to burn so got dinner here. Went for the 10oz steak. it was delicious. Perfectly cooked. Good service and came quickly. The best part was that it was free as United Mileage plus card picked up the tab automatically through the ordering system :-) read more

We had a 10 hour layover in Newark. We came here looking to watch the Chelsea game and they happily accommodated us and allowed us to stay and relax for a few hours. The staff was so helpful and the food was very tasty. The lattes and mochas were delicious. Very plesant atmosphere and food for an airport. Almost forgot we had another 7 hours in this airport. read more

Combination of two times I've eaten here. Came here about six months ago when passing through. Delicious food! Sure the iPad was annoying but we forgot about it when we actually ate something decent in the airport. In the time that has passed, it seems to have gone downhill. Went by yesterday on my way to an int'l flight. There were three guys in suits chatting. Wasn't sure if they worked there, or what the story was. (I'm pretty sure they worked for the "secret" United restaurant in back). One of them led me to a table that had dirty dishes. I stood and waited for someone to clean it. No one came. It stunk. I found another seat on my own and put in my order. Food was delicious again, but waiter looked put out when I requested water. Had to ask two times. There were plenty of servers, but they just stood around. You see the complaints here about the service and the IPad ordering system. How about paying the staff better and training them to do their jobs? read more

We got screwed by using this restaurant as we got charged twice for the same meal as they didn't know how to charge us with the system. I ended up paying for somebody else's meal as the iPad's were not in the right place and once the charge goes through, there isn't much to do. The food was acceptable but the service was very slow. I do not recommend this place. read more

We had a wonderful wait experience with Natalie. She explained the iPad thing and also recommended getting the wonderful bread. Very attentive service. I enjoyed my martini very much and both my wife and I enjoyed the oysters. Raw bar at the airport , I love it! read more

No water without asking. No coffee refills. No interest in customers aside from getting them to book on the ridiculous and annoying tablets with endless annoying advertising. Oh built in 18% gratuity to boot. Go Starbucks and save 70% on this pseudo diner and co-owned forno magio next door. read more

One of the strangest dinning concepts I've ever seen. Bolt an iPad to the table so that there isn't room for the plate and force you to tip when you order. Food was good but the service and experience left much to be desired. read more

Absolutely the worst airport restaurant I have ever been to. I Had to refill our water, food delivered 5 mins apart. Our server had no personality or skills. The server in the section behind us actually helped us, she was very nice. BEWARE, read the bill before paying. The tip is automatically added in at 20% and you pay prior to receiving food . I didn't see until too late. Eat somewhere else. read more

Cool concept. Order good looking food on an ipad and hope for faster service. I think i waited over 30 min and now may miss my boarding. They said they were packing up our food almost 15 min ago. Several customers are looking for refund. read more

At the end of the day, a Resturant is about one thing, your main course. While the salad and even the fries were good, they totally screwed up fish and chips. I mean really, how hard can they be, batter and fry. Aside from the food, you do order from an iPad, and pay, including tip, before you ever even see anyone. These guys don't understand what the basis of the tip is all about And to top it all off, over $40 for fish and chips, small side sale and tea. I mean why not just hold me up in the hallway and at least save me the time. Won't be back here, short of the getting held up thing at least read more

My experience here was extremely lame. Firstly it is one of those airport restaurants that has the iPad ordering system. I hate these systems. I prefer to interact with a human being and I've noticed that at these places because the role of the servers is less, they are around less. The food was fine but nothing special especially for the price. I had to wait ridiculously long amounts of times for my drinks. I ordered a Bloody Mary and it came out about 10 minutes later I ordered a bottle of water and it was about the same wait time. And when I needed other things like salt and pepper, there was no one around to ask. I don't recommend coming here. read more

If you look at all of the tripadvisor reviews of this place, it's disheartening to see the numerous reviews of repeat charges. This was a reminder to always check your credit card statement. This place scams people out of money by creating duplicate charges. If I could give zero stars I would. Either fix your system, train your staff, or close your business. This is stealing. I will be contacting the better business bureau. I wonder how many of your customers have never looked at there statements and caught those extra charges? That's one way to stay in business....but quite a shady one. Calling the newark airport now. read more

My go to spot when traveling out of Newark airport. Love the burger and hangar steak is fantastic as well. One of the better airport dining options I have experienced. read more

My wife & I decided to try Saison after it was recommended to us by an OTG Mgr. It was approximately around 5:30 pm when we entered and after asking a server do we seat ourselves he grunted yeah! A very professional attitude! As we continued to walk further in the place a mgr showed us to the last table in the back. I had sneakers on and felt the floor to be very slippery with a greasy feel to it. My wife ordered a burger with fries & a ginger ale. I ordered a dozen little neck clams a shrimp cocktail and salmon with a white bean purée. My salmon come to the table first and about 10 to 12 minutes before my wife's meal arrived. By the time she got her burger I was done with the salmon! Clams and shrimp cocktail no where to be seen or had! A bus person arrived and asked how was everything and did we want anything else which I replied yes my clams and shrimp cocktail. Now our server shows up and tells me she would get it right away (about 12 minutes later! We the shrimp cocktail arrives with (you guessed it) NO Cocktail Sauce! The dozen clams were ONLY 2 sitting on a bed of ice again No Cocktail Sauce! I said where are the other 10 clams - in about 10 minutes she deliver a dozen to me Again No Cocktail Sauce! Said she would bring it but I never did I paid $137.00 for so so food and the WORST SERVICE in the world! NO TIP from me! I pay for food But Tip on Service. We travel 3 times a year out of Newark Airport. I can guarantee you I'll never go back to Saison. I'd rather have a slice of pizza and a beer. A lot cheaper and you know what your getting and expecting. I'll be sure to tell everyone I know about my experience. read more

Don't listen to all the whiny people on here that use yelp as a weapon. Had a steak with fries and a beer. Everything was great & no complaints. read more

I wished i had read the reviews before eating here. AWFULL FOOD!!! So you order and pay thru a tablet on your table. Had some trouble with it so the waiter came by to assist. Friendly and courteous guy. Ordered the grilled octopus appetizer, roast chicken entree and a beer which came up to a pricey $66. I wouldn't have minded so much if the food was edible. The accompanying small potatoes on the grilled octopus was tasteless, but the octopus made up for it. However the chicken was superrr salty that my tastebuds were cringing. All i tasted was SALT on dry chicken. I was starved since i had skipped breakfast, yet i found it difficult to eat this meal. Thankfully the portions were small. Oh and watch out for the automatically selected tip of 18% (unless the waiter had selected it when he helped me out... i would have given him20% if it wasn't already selected) read more

Horrible! Place just opened. Have to order from an iPad. A waiter stands there and watches you enter your order when he could have just taken it. The food is way overpriced. One waffle is $13 and that's it, just a waffle, no eggs, bacon sausage, nothing else. Ordered coffee at the start and it came after the meal was over. Plastic silverware at a place that charges $20+ for breakfast. Terrible. read more

Service is the worst, waited 45 mins for a burger! They advertise there French the only thing that's French about this place is the "French fries" don't waist your time or money not worth it. read more

Dreadfully slow service. Food excessively over-priced, undercooked batter on fish and chips was soggy. Salad greens with dressing were tasty. Will not return to this establishment. read more

Slow is not the word for this place. The turtle lapped us a while ago. Service is ridiculous. You wait an hour or more for food. For an airport restaurant this place is an embarrassment. Food is average, but if you want to eat here give yourself two hours or more, you will need every minute. read more

I wanted to like this place, but didn't. I appreciate that they are trying some new concepts and up-scale food in an airport. But, it just did not work. I had a quick dinner here before my flight last Thursday. I was immediately greeted at the front, but then it took a very long time to seat me. The hosts seemed to be confused and didn't work well together. I like the idea of the ipad ordering - it can speed things up and puts the diner more in control of when they order. The ipad also allows for easy checking of flight status. However, the ipad is bolted right in front of each place setting, making the table feel crowded. Plus, thinking about all the people who are handling the thing to make orders, then eating, then handling it again.....then new people sitting down....that seems unsanitary. I got the cheese plate and the farm salad. The cheese plate was ok, but everything on the plate was too salty. The flavors of the cheeses and the date spread (the only thing on the plate besides cheese and bread) did not work together. I expected more variety, and harmony, of flavors on the plate at that type of restaurant. The greens on my farm salad were too bitter. About the service - I agree with previous reviewers that the automatic 18% tip is outrageous for what you get. My server was friendly, but the food and drinks were not well timed, I had to remind him about my salad, and the dressing was missing when it arrived. I sat near the kitchen, and could tell that they were struggling to get food out correctly and in good time. The prices were even more outrageous. Even after accounting for their attempt at upscaled-ness and being in an airport, my simple meal of cheese plate, salad, and one reasonable glass of wine was around $60. I will not return. read more

For an airport restaurant this one is the best. I was pleasantly surprised by their selection of menu, their drink choices and how good my food was. Along with the wine. The prices are as expected for an airport. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend if you need time to kill before a flight. read more

Slowest service at8am. Order for 2 omelettes took 45 min. Tea was cold and servers were very confused and not on top of their stuff. Kitchen is only sending out 1 dish a time. Slowest ever and you'd think that being in an airport would have this basic figured out. read more

This is very pricey!! It is a nice sit down place but the cheapest main dish is a sandwich for $17 and goes up from there. Still a nice place to sit and have a beer while waiting for your flight. I am not too positive I'd come back, but I might. Service and atmosphere very clean read more

We read various reviews of the restaurants here at Newark Airport, and decided to give Maison a try. It was terrific! Good service (a server helped us figure out the tablet menu), delicious food and a fun wine list. Thanks to our server Krishna and the other servers for a great airport experience!!!! read more

Awful experience! Workers walk around like zombies. Ordering is automated so no need to talk to anyone except when the order is wrong and you can not get anyone to help.
