Arizona State University - Pretty night shot at ASU

While we were in Phoenix, our friend took us on a tour of Arizona State University. She's a proud…read morealum who still supports the school, so she was definitely on a mission to convince my teenage daughter that ASU should be on her college list. Unfortunately, it was over 100° that day, so she had a pretty tough sales pitch! She started by showing us her old dorm, which happened to be very close to the school where she was studying. That was actually really nostalgic for me because I still remember sending snail mail to her dorm back in the early 2000s. It was fun to see where she had lived all those years ago. One of the things I really liked about the campus was all the little spaces tucked away throughout it. There were secret courtyards where students could sit outside and study, tons of seating, volleyball courts, and plenty of areas that seemed designed to encourage students to actually spend time together and build a community. I was also impressed by how secure everything felt. Most of the buildings were locked, with the library and the Memorial Union being among the places we could actually go inside. The library was huge, quiet, and had tons of breakout rooms, making it look like a really comfortable place to study whether you wanted to work alone or with a group. The Memorial Union was another highlight. Instead of feeling like a traditional college cafeteria, it had all kinds of chain restaurants and food options. There was even a barbershop on campus, which I thought was a great convenience for students who might not have a car or simply don't want to leave campus for basic services. Transportation also seems to be a big part of campus life. We saw everything from bikes and skateboards to scooters, and there were plenty of places to lock them up. Between the different transportation options, walkability, and security measures, it seemed like students could get around without needing a car. And the buildings themselves are really unique. The "Wedding Cake" building definitely caught my attention, and I was especially excited to see the building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright because I'm a fan of his work. There's a lot of interesting architecture throughout the campus, so even just walking around felt like sightseeing. Even though it was brutally hot, I liked that there were places where you could duck inside and get some air conditioning. The campus also seemed very walkable, which I imagine would make a big difference during normal Arizona weather--not necessarily during our 100°+ tour day! We didn't really get to experience the academic side of ASU, so I can't speak much to the actual education or specific programs. This was more of a general campus tour where we got to see the larger spaces, student areas, transportation options, and overall layout. From what I saw, ASU looks like a fun place for college students to create their own community while getting an education. Our friend may not have completely convinced my daughter--especially while she was melting in the Arizona heat--but it was definitely an interesting campus to explore! Forks up!

For the amount of money students pay to attend this college, the lack of support and unnecessarily…read morecomplicated administrative processes are pretty disappointing. Academic advising has been less than helpful, and dealing with the finance department has been an absolute headache. I was supposed to receive two refund checks that never arrived. You would think reporting missing checks and requesting replacements would be a relatively straightforward process. Apparently not. Instead, you're expected to complete multiple forms just to have the original checks canceled and new ones issued. I was told setting up direct deposit would make the process easier, so I did. I then received another message from the finance department informing me that I needed to complete and sign even more paperwork just to receive money that already belongs to me. What's particularly frustrating is that the department doesn't even complete its own portion of the paperwork. Instead, students are expected to provide information such as the original check issue dates, which are mandatory fields. How exactly am I supposed to know when checks I never received were issued? Isn't that information the finance department should have? The textbook situation is another unnecessary hassle. Students are automatically charged for course materials through the college, and if you find those materials cheaper elsewhere, congratulations, there's more paperwork to complete just to opt out. I've attended other colleges, and I've never experienced this level of administrative inefficiency or received so little assistance. It feels like every basic request becomes another series of forms, emails, and unnecessary obstacles. For an institution collecting thousands of dollars in tuition, I would expect a much higher standard of student support. Students shouldn't have to navigate an obstacle course of paperwork to access their own money, purchase their own textbooks, or receive basic assistance. The entire experience has made me question why such simple administrative tasks are so unnecessarily difficult.

This online university staff is real responsive and there is a bit of a personal touch…read more Their process is good and they get you on track right away with classes and all. They accepted 21 of my 36 units, and they helped me get started with their program. They are WSCUC(WASC) accredited. My class work is challenging and I have learned a lot so far.

DONOT enroll in the PsyD program even though the coursework may cover your state licensure…read morerequirements. This particular program is 100% deceiving and University's way to profit from students. First two years while doing the coursework is the easiest part. Once you start your doctoral project, that's when you face the reality of how deceptive this university is. For example, each term/project is 8 weeks long. You would submit all your required coursework. The committee members would take 7-14 days to provide feedback. They would disapprove your paper if it's missing a period or comma. You have unpaid 7-day extension options. However, remember, committee takes 7-14 days to provide feedback. So the unpaid extension is useless. Then you have 30-day paid extension. If you are lucky, let's say, there are some minor errors, you will be lucky with $550+ dollars. Most students, you end up receiving U, failing the course, and retake it; which is another 1000+ dollars plus one full term delayed on your graduation. I'm regretting choosing this university because of their deceiving course outlines, especially how they are profiting from students with this insane, unstructured, deceiving, programs. STAY AWAY and don't waste your time and money.

I have been a patient of AT Still for over a year. When I first went through the enrollment…read moreprocess, I was very impressed with the professional approach provided by the Student Dentist as well as the Instructor. It was made perfectly clear that "If you are in a hurry and impatient" this is not the place for you. It's not about just saving money, but what I found is that I would receive first class care that would be overseen by an experienced professional. To say the least, I was first going to the basic clinic, however, in a short time, I was moved to the Advanced Clinic. My Treatment Plan was reviewed both my myself as well as my wife. The financial commitment was explained and the Care Credit Card was also discussed. After approximately 4-5 months I lost Dr. Michael Kleeman to graduation. Selfishly speaking, I was very upset, nervous and feeling uneasy about the change of Dentists in the middle of my procedure. Dr. Matthew Carbajal was introduced to me and for the past 6-7 months he has just been wonderful. He is caring, thorough and very professional. I am going through major mouth restoration and Dr Carbajal has been with me every step of the way. No dental work is painless, however, I can honestly say that my work has not caused any side affects upon returning home. I'm going through another change of the Guard, and an anxiously awaiting my new Dentist. It's so rewarding to see that my work has provided Dr. Carbajal with the experience necessary for his next level. Give the clinic a chance, everyone is helpful, pleasant and goes out of their way to make sure everything is going according to plan. I gave them 5 stars because I find nothing negative about my care.
