We've had positive experiences since our kids started here in the 2's and 3's on the preschool side. My 6 other nieces and nephews also attend this school and we've all had a great experience with SDP and SDA. This school has high rankings in academics but also has a wonderful team who all have your children's best interest at heart. Dr. Majeed, Miss Vernetta, all the teachers Miss Mickey, Miss Amber, Miss Haschke, Miss Oliver, Miss Jenn C., even all the front desk staff (Lonnie, Deena, Brittni), and especially the principal Jenn Salvatori have all been wonderful and helpful with our kids! There was recently an issue with another child was being very rude/disrespectful a couple of times and I reported it right away since my child was upset and crying. I'm happy to report that the resolution was swift. I was also kept updated about how it was being addressed both with the students and internally among their staff/teachers. SDA stresses the importance of the 4 R's Respect, Responsibility, Readiness, and Resiliency as well as academics with opportunities to advance. SDA was also very accommodating when we had to go to online school during COVID and truly care about your child's well being. My kids feel safe here, trust their teachers and administration, and have honestly thrived at this school since being here. I feel blessed to have this school so close to home and to trust my kids with a school that provides such solid support.

This school is focused so solely on high achievement that they will do everything possible to push out children who do not perform. My daughter went here with minimal issue, other than adjusting to the old school dictation-style teaching and an isolated situation where a stessed teacher used questionable methods to discipline the entire class for being disruptive. My son has ADHD and was put into detentions and in-school suspension over the allowable number of times per year by state law while he was in grades K-4. He was excluded from activities and field trips, put last in his kindergarten graduation despite it being alphabetical (his name should've been read 3rd - he was th only child not listed in order) and I was constantly told how I should consider medication (again - at 5 years old). They were oblivious to handling a 504 plan. My son was so deflated by his first 5 years of school that he dreaded every day. I have spoken with numerous parents who went through similar situations at this school. The goal is obviously to overwhelm the student and their parents into removal so they don't have to deal with the situation. My son is thriving now in the great public schools in NE Mesa, but still looks back on his time at SDA with trauma. On the positive side, telling his painful experience at SDA did help with legislation to prevent schools from issuing unnecessary suspension to elementary age children. This school may be wonderful for some children, but they do not "give unconditional love" for children with ADHD. If your child is trying to find their way through this complicated journey, this is NOT the school for you.

The teaching methods were beneficial and allowed my children to mean other like minded students. To date, CUSD80 has grown to 80 square miles and contains 31 elementary. 5 junior, 2 middle, 5 high schools, 1 secondary, 1 online school and 4 alternative schools. These include Chandler Traditional, gifted classes, elite performance school and Hill Learning Academy. This district offers assessments, extra curricular activities, before and after school care, lunch programs and transportation. An advisory board and tax credit donations are also available. I would recommend residents look into all the choices before making a decision on which school suits your students needs.

The head of school, Stephanie Terrell, is one of the worst, most contradictory administrators I have ever had the chore of emailing weekly for an entire school year. She protects her teachers with a fierce bias and will not hold anyone accountable for the simple reason that its not worth her time because a teacher is retiring. Stephanie would rather put a parent on a "communication plan" to restrict their ability to ask questions and have transparent dialogue. BASIS teachers have repeatedly told parents that the children are irresponsible - such as at back to school night before they even know a child's name - and then spend the whole year discriminating against that child because they are young and can't possibly know how to advocate for themselves. God forbid the teachers actually take the time to teach logical, straight forward executive functioning skills without confusing both parents and students by over complicating everything and poorly communicating. My 1st grader had a stack of papers 9.5 inches high by the end of the school year. It had been so frustrating to try talking to anyone at the school about how much value paper pushing provides, that I actually did the math myself: my student had to have his butt in a seat quietly doing a worksheet every 14 minutes of the school day. How is this a demonstration of rigorous, advanced academics taught with hands-on learning techniques that promote problem solving? The only problem my kid had to solve was how to not let one toe fall out of line. His teachers spoke to him like he was dumb and took off academic points if he forgot to put his name or class on any of the several hundred papers he had to churn out. Then, they couldn't even keep track of what they had to grade, so they marked it missing and penalized my students grade, blaming it on him for not turning in his work. Again, it's his problem because he's an irresponsible child. They don't care about your student as a human. They care about their statistics. Better off going to CUSD where they max the classes at 24 kids (not 32 as at BASIS), they connect with you and your family on a personal level, and they don't try to shove valueless busywork in their face throughout the day to prove the kids are learning for their own inflated statistics.

This school failed my daughter greatly and purposely disrupted her education while trying to portrayed to the public that they pride themselves for their academic achievements. I had to withdrawal my 8 year old daughter because I did not feel safe for her to finish the semester and I'm still very upset that this school not only took opportunities away from my daughter, but also caused her a great deal of problems with her self esteem. Parents do not let this school fool you, the principal and culture in this school is prejudice and abuse their power. They are good experts at covering up bullying issues and only care about the donations they receive.

Christ the King Catholic School has been amazing for our son. He attended one of the best public…read moreelementary schools in Mesa Zito Ishikawa because of where we live but their academic curriculum was extremely repetitive and unchallenging. To make matters worse he was competing all over the country in Quarter Midget racing for a National Title and fighting with the school tooth and nail all the way. The administration didn't care because of his absences to compete even though his grades were perfect, all A's, work completed early before we left, and every extra credit assignment offered throughout the year completed. His teacher was amazing, but the principle and the administration only cared about his but in their seat. So, we looked for a more challenging school that had value in academic excellence and an understanding of keeping a schedule with his training and racing regiment and boy did we find it in CTK! CTK listened to his wishes to be able to compete and to have his school behind his racing aspiration and we worked out a solid plan together. When he came in, he was behind their 3rd grade level but within 6 hard weeks he caught up and never looked back. There is a ton of love and inspiration with the entire staff at this school unequivocally. If you want your child to have solid American values at school centered around Christ with a ultra-demanding curriculum to prepare them for a solid college preparatory school we have found the place. Without a doubt his workload is very demanding, but the results have been astonishing with 3rd and 4th grade now. 5 Stars for sure.
