First place was like an assembly line, no appointments, you showed up before they opened and hoped for the best & the haircuts were terrible. Next place, the groomer did a great job in a comfortable atmosphere but then it seemed she never opened her shop again. I would make appointments & stand there, she wouldn't show up. Then I went to a place in Bloomfield, I did not feel safe leaving my dog there (I didn't) I doubted the place had been cleaned in decades. Finally, I was complaining to someone that lives in Nutley she told me she took her pup to Mandy's. So we gave it a shot. We have been coming back faithfully since. My dog is actually happy when he goes there! When we arrive, they know just who he is. Drop off for all dogs is between 9-10 am so it's not because of our appointment time. He's older so I trust them to take extra care with him & when I pick him up he is not stressed in the least bit. He's actually excited to show off his cut.

We took our dog here randomly because we couldn't get an appointment at our regular before the holidays. I will say I was able to book an appointment quickly and obviously did not read the reviews. I asked for a simple bath, deshedding, and the usual ear cleaning. We have a mix with medium hair, not a malamute but not a pitty length. He was not matted, not was he shedding anymore than normal (not clumpy or undercoat). He has a gorgeous coat that we frequently get complimented on and is well taken care of. I took him out to get groomed in the afternoon and when I picked him up, I saw that he was chained to a grooming stand by himself with no more than 4 inches slack. I didn't think much of it at the time, since I know he doesn't go into a crate easily, paid and left. Upon getting home I noticed he smelled great and was clean. After a day I noticed he wouldn't eat and was flinching and whining when I would touch or pet him. I rushed him to the vet thinking something was seriously wrong. After spending over $1200 at the vet for an exam, testing, and multiple pain meds, we realized that he had been brushed so hard on his back that they tore skin. After a couple days, and now 2 weeks, he has a HORRIFYING amount of LARGE scabs up and down his spine from the very top of his head to the base of his tail. We concluded that this was from the deshedding brush. There are no scabs on his stomach or sides so I cannot show photos and because he is black, they're nearly impossible to see when I try to photograph. I cannot bear the fact that my sweet boy was brushed so hard for god knows how long that he was bleeding and in pain. This was not a mistake that went unnoticed. This is pure animal cruelty and they are honestly lucky I am not pressing charges. They should not be allowed to touch another animal. Lord knows what else goes on behind closed doors. Please do not take your babies here. I am devastated for my boy.

This groomer came well recommended.and I liked that she's nearby and fairly easy to book. My dog had been 4weeks since a full session and I stated short cut with bangs. When I picked him up he was bald in several areas, all his 'feathers' and bangs severely chopped and irregular. The worse part is that he's traumatized and vulnerable ho sunburn. His hair will grow back of course and he can wear a t-shirt, but it will take a or longer to rebuild his spirit I was so stunned at pick-up that I let my husband pay the bill and left. Over the phone when I initially made the appointment. She told me she would be able to give my dog a haircut as well. When I said that price for that is ridiculous, she said she is 60 and needs the money. When I refused to pay 50 dollars for her to only cut my dogs nails and clean his ears, she rudely told me that she was busy and to take my dog elsewhere because my dog was not welcome here. I am shocked and upset that this woman was so rude to me and my dog. I will never come back here, and you are better off taking your dog to PetSmart to get groomed.

I reached out immediately to them, and they let me know that they would investigate and get back to me. I was called back the same day to be told that what I saw on his ear was an old scab that fell off, that they should have let me know when they found it, and apologized that they didn't do that and offered me a free wash for the next time I came in. Also frustrated because I specifically said "i like to keep the little wisp of hair on his ears" basically don't touch the ears. I could literally see where the clippers left stroke marks right at the position of the injury, but I had no proof that it was a new wound until the next day. It happened to be raining pretty heavily, I walked my dog just for a quick pee and come back upstairs, and I noticed blood on the top of his head on the side of his face and realize that his ear is bleeding because the water re-opened the fresh wound they did. Of course I would not be OK with my dog getting hurt in anyway, but I think this situation would've been less infuriating if they took accountability for hurting my dog and not even mentioning it to me when I picked him up, and offering me a free bath as compensation, which I thought was strange if they had done nothing wrong. This place is already ridiculously expensive. They raised their prices and for the $125 that I spent I am extremely upset. I would also like to note: if you go through the photos you'll see quite a few other dogs get nicked or badly cut as well. I wish I looked more closely before. Sad because I've been going there for over a year and a half, I trusted them.

The first time the Front Desk communicated that the grooming would be done in 30 minutes and when we came back, she denied ever saying that. The grooming took 4 hours in total. We were very unhappy with this, but the owner graciously gave us a discount so we took it as a gesture of good faith. The 2nd/3rd time were fine, but then our dog ended up at the vet & got an ear infection because we found out that they never cleaned out his ears or plucked his ears so we spent over $1K at the vet. The final time (I know, stupid us for going again), we wanted to see if we could make it work because of the proximity of Bark Shoppe and wanting to truly support local businesses, they charged us a "LATE FEE" for picking up our dog 30 minutes after they called even though they never once disclosed that this policy existed. I emailed their team and instead, their front desk person called us and said "we can't refund this fee and moving forward it would be better for your dog to be groomed elsewhere." What. A. Joke. We will NOT be coming back to this place.
