The dive bar vibes are on point and if u play pool or darts, then you have found your spot! Staff & regulars were very welcoming to me as a newb, which I appreciated as it can be intimidating to go into such places as a 1st-timer! Ur typical selections beer and liquor-wise...my dive bar go to is High Life (more for the irony than the price most times) and 6 of those here set me back $12.50! Not a bad way to spend a Sunday Funday w/engaging regulars & barstaff + doggos that will make ur heart melt! Thing is, we want to keep this place just the way it is, so SDT (shhh don't tell) unless u can vouch that whoever you bring to this hidden gem will keep the vibe alive and well!

If you know your way around Charlotte nightlife, then you know Babylon is the go-to place at 2 am…read morewhen everything closes. I'll explain. Babylon is a hookah lounge and does not serve any alcohol. It is however, open until 4 am. So everyone comes to Babylon when clubs/bars close. For this reason, it gets PACKED after 1 am or so. Dont get me wrong, the venue in itself is pretty large. The hookahs are actually pretty good and there is usually plenty of parking here. The DJ is for the most part always good, playing top 40 hits, Hip Hop, Trap, Dembow, Bachata, Reggae, Reggaeton. People will absolutely be dancing here. Now, things to keep in mind: 1. This is not a classy venue. You are sure to run into drunken folks every weekend. It gets VERY crowded. This place is not for the "bougie" or "fancy" folks. If you're not into rowdiness, this isn't the place for you. 2. NO ALCOHOL is sold here. Just water/cold beverages. 3. Keep an open mind, this place is perfect for the group of friends who isn't ready to call it a night at 2 am. So drink the last of your drinks at whatever bar or club you're at and head to Babylon to dance all the drinks out of your system. Dress code isn't a big deal, whether you're in your sexiest club dress or jeans and a top, what matters is the vibes you bring in here.

OMG that fish and French fries was fried so hard I thought it was gonna break my teeth . I was so hungry when I came in there .. I didn't send the food back cause you never know what happens when you send food back.. I only ate a few of the fries and picked over the fish. I'm gonna guess maybe they had a bad cook that night . It wasn't cause they were slammed. Because they weren't, It was slow. Friday night around 9 to 10 pm.. Terrible experience...

While I'm told they do have traditional Irish bands come in, they host a wide variety of events and musical acts from Punk Rock Night, to EDM DJs, to bingo nights, they welcome all sorts and find a wide variety of ways to have a good time! I came in on a weekend day after running some errands in the area and looking for a nice cool place to relax and have a beer. There was a good crowd of locals who all seemed to know one another as well as the bartender, but despite not being a regular I felt right at home. Both the bartenders and the patrons were very friendly and the atmosphere was enjoyable. I wish I lived closer because I could easily see myself becoming a regular. They've been here 2.5 years and from my first experience , they are absolutely crushing it. Dim lighting, beautiful bar design in a smaller space, and 90's-2000's hip hop was the perfect mix for a chill Friday night. Niaget took care of us at the bar (please forgive me if I got the spelling wrong!) and she is clearly a well trained mixologist. Cocktail menu is unique and the ingredients might seem a little far out, but trust the process. The drink pictured below was a bourbon-based (Old Forrester) custom cocktail that Niaget threw together. Hints of pineapple & mint mixed with my favorite brand bourbon made this an honest treat. I will be tossing this cocktail bar onto my favorites list and can't wait to go back.

The bar is divey, and you can find very cheap drinks, especially if you go for the daily specials. The bartenders are nice - beware that they do keep your card if you keep your tab open - and seem to know the regulars. In addition to monthly bingo, they seem to host drag events, have video games and board games available to play, as well as several TVs. Plus, dogs can go inside and out. The bar does not serve food, though usually there is a vendor there. Looking forward to next month!

Overall I think it is worth checking out if you've never been and maybe it will grab you and you will want to become a regular. Me personally it's a little out of the way to become a regular haunt located in between Plaza and NoDa but not walking distance from either. Also it's not that the service was ever unfriendly but I just didn't feel like it was my vibe. Still a cool bar though and I can see why other enjoy it.
