For me the "ushe" is a chicken stir fry with extra veggies and rice. It's consistently great. All the selections I've tried are terrific and many of them have egg, which I love. Sadly, there's typically a wait to get the yumminess. But, since it's such a cozy, laid back atmosphere, we never mind. I had lunch at the Saigon House in Windsor on January 25th. On the music system they were playing hip-hop and the singer was singing the F-word. Could you play music that all people would enjoy? I want some of the frames hanging on the walls (the Parisian and London ones). Although the decoration is simple, it's charming, plus I liked the detail of having flowers and plants. We ordered a mango salad, spring rolls, and a chicken-shrimp pad thai. I need to say that the portions are big, we needed to take out left overs. The mango was fresh and firm, came accompanied with fried garlic, cashews, green pepper, lettuce, and a tasty vinaigrette. The spring rolls were meaty, I liked the crunchiness level, the flavour was nice too. The Pad Thai was ok, it was lacking some shrimps tho. The noodles were perfectly al dente, the tamarind was succulent. I would ask for it again. The service was friendly and fast. Came here with some friends while visiting Windsor for Christmas holidays. Decided to try it based on a friends recommendation. Interior was clean and nice. Service was friendly. Food wise.... I was expecting a full Vietnamese restaurant, but their selection was pretty slim. They didn't have tripe on their pho list, and their rice dishes only had choice of meat and egg really (no shredded pork, or steamed egg quiche). They were missing most of the standard toppings for all their Viet dishes. Because of this I opted to try their Thai red curry instead (even though I was craving Viet food). It was good, but more spicy than most red curries I've had at other restaurants. Worst part.... Found a hair in my food :( read more

I finally found the closet thing to char kuey teow in Windsor and I'm so happy! This is a Malaysian comfort food of mine that I always get when I visit family in Kuala Lumpur. I had lunch with my mom. Service was attentive and friendly. He didn't rush my mom which was great because sometimes she takes a while to decide. I had the T15 (stir-fried ho fun in a "dry style") choice of Malaysian style and with seafood. This place uses shrimp, squid, and mussels. I wished they had cockle clams here but it still tasted close! I like the charred wok taste. That's the best way to describe it. I'll come again when I have another Malaysian craving! read more

AMAZING. The proportions are fantastic for the price and the food is so so good! I love Saigon House. It's so so good, my friends and I eat there at least once a week. Their fresh rolls (without pork) and pad Thai are definitely a staple in my diet. The peanut sauce that comes with the fresh rolls is served in heaven for sure it's so so good. Hate to write crappy reviews, but, unfortunately, some places just deserve it ... There is very little going for this establishment, aside from a location convenient to the university. Those who write glowing reviews about the food have quite clearly not experienced Windsor's other Vietnamese restaurants, all of which, without exception, are VASTLY superior, both in quality of food and friendliness of service. This is the ONLY Vietnamese restaurant in town that does not offer you a side plate of herbs with your pho, which would almost be considered criminal in Vietnam. In spite of this, it still charges the same prices (or higher) than the competition. Just so you know I'm not basing this review on one poor visit, I have, in fact, been to this restaurant about half a dozen times. The first visit was perfectly good, and my wife and I were excited about another viable restaurant choice in the area. However, subsequent visits have been horrible. Each time I go, I hope that they'll get their act back together, but it never happens. Today's was my final visit and I will not talk myself into giving the restaurant yet another chance. There are a number of other Vietnamese places (i.e., Pho Nguyen Hoang, Pho Xic Lo, Love of Pho, Pho Maxim and Pho Red Mango) not very far away ... they will get my future business. read more

I give honest and straight-forward reviews and I was a little skeptical about the authenticity of this restaurant from the name "Saigon House". A typical name of a pho restaurant would be a vietnamese name, numbers, etc. Decor was nice inside. We were given the option to pick our own seats which was also nice. Menu selection was fine (bonus: relative to portion size, prices are cheaper as well). I ordered a typical pho dish. Great portions! Which is very good. Taste was great, broth smelled & tasted great. Their iced/hot coffee was excellent too. The first time I was here I ordered a vermicelli (bun) dish, but I wasn't fan of their nuoc mam sauce. I would give this restaurant 5 stars, but the one problem I had was the parking (-1 star). No private parking for customers. For students at the university who don't want to walk far to xic-lo, this is a GREAT alternative. read more

Came for the first time yesterday, and we will definitely be returning! The service was pleasant, the food was pretty good. Although I thought their peanut sauce was a little too hoisin-y for me, I had no complaints other than that. We will be back soon! Next up is to try their pad thai. read more
