I've picked up catering deliveries from Saigon Bowl many times. When I deliver the order to the customers, they always tell me how much they love the food from Saigon Bowl. I keep thinking I need to try them out! I happened to be in the area getting my exercise at the nearby parks. After an hour of walking, I noticed I built up quite an appetite. I thought this would be perfect to try them out. I was in the mood for salad rolls, but when I looked at the menu I saw the Eggplant Clay Pot which came with a side of rice. I asked the server if it was vegan and he said it was 100% vegan. He recognized me from the times I've picked up catering orders. We chatted for a bit. He's very friendly. I ordered the Eggplant Clay Pot, it came to me piping hot. The flavor was so good! I really enjoyed it. I had made a veggie stir fry for my lunch, also rice. The leftover I took home went perfectly with the leftover stir fry I made. I had an awesome lunch the next day! I liked the decor of the restaurant and the seat I sat in was nice and cushy! Sadly, my first try and last try this place. Highly rated and I had a good expectation for this place. I ordered to go, two main entrees and two appetizers. When I got home, one of the main dishes was missing. I went back to claim the dish. I was asked if I live close by. Yes 10 min away but 20 min round trip. This was a birthday dinner requested by the birthday kid and the requested dish was missing. No apologies from the store. I won't go back again. read more

I don't know how I've never been here before even after living in the area for this long. I'm always craving various Asian cuisines and just so happened to come across this spot after scrolling on Yelp for awhile. Decided to give it a shot and was definitely not disappointed. I'll start by saying the food is good but not without flaws. We started with the fried calamari which was standout. A lot of places use the processed squid which ends up feeling artificially chewy, where as here they use actual squid. I know salinity is up to personal preference, but I did find their squid to be overly salted. I had their Luc Lac beef which was good as well; but I do feel like salad next to warm rice tends to wilt the lettuce quicker than intended. I also felt like the sauce was perhaps a little on the oilier side; but otherwise tasted good. My wife had their lemongrass chicken, which again was good, but I did feel like they could've cooked the aromatics a little longer as the ginger and garlic were still hard. Based on food alone I would say this would be 4 stars, but the service really left more to be desired. Our server, although friendly, had an airpod in the entire time we were there, did not come to get our order or the bill, and never once filled our water. Now there was only 1 server when we were there, so I completely understand if the restaurant was busy; but there was only 1 other table at this time. read more

I don't know if there is a Vietnamese bistro consortium, but this is almost exactly like one by my house. I got the Saigon combination. I'm not a big fan of when I'm given shrimp in the singular. It just seems unnecessarily cheap. Other than that all the flavors were good. I think I got overcharged for my drink but I didn't want to mess with it. But if I didn't get overcharged their fountain drinks are way too expensive. Good blend of greens And herbs in the bowl. Satisfying meal. read more

Went here on a Monday afternoon. It wasn't too busy when I arrived. I was greeted by (I believe) a Vietnamese grandma who I think was the chef in the kitchen. She and the waiter were both friendly and sweet. I also appreciated that they had a simple menu. I ordered the beef pho and got a combination of all three meats, as well as a mango smoothie with jelly. I didn't really have much complaints about the pho. The texture of the noodles was fine, the broth tasted as it should, and the meat was plentiful. I wish that they included tripe and tendon. Also very surprisingly the mango smoothie tasted better than I was expecting as well. I wasn't expecting much, but the flavor was fine and it wasn't saturated with sugar. Price, Quality, Quantity: 7.5/10 The beef pho came out to around $16, which was in my opinion just a little bit on the expensive side for what I was given (They only had 1 size for the order). The amount, size, and flavor of the bowl was fine; I was definitely full after finishing the bowl. But I think if they added things like tripe and some tendon pieces then I'd be more inclined to say that the price was justified. overall not too bad. read more

Food was gross. I had a chicken dish I had before, but this time the chicken had bones and looked like it had been fished out of the garbage. Crispy chicken was mush. Broccoli and rice were ok. Everytime I go in there, they seem to either have an ant problem or flies. You have to keep waving the flies away. Service was decent. read more

This was a good last-minute pick thanx to Yelp. A coworker and I, fortunately, had similar palates and were in search of something light. Started off with the Butterflied Coconut Tiger Prawns while the main course for me was the Chicken Pho. All of the food smelled great and tasted good for another rainy PDX night. Comforting would be the word to describe as it didn't feel like a chain restaurant... Good flavors and the staff was attentive and helpful. I really dislike writing negative reviews. Unfortunately, Saigon Bowl is a one and done for me. My friend and I arrived just as they opened and decided to sit inside. But there are a few tables outside too. The dining area is small but nicely decorated in warm tones of tan and orange. The hanging basket light fixtures are stylish and eye catching. A gentleman who appeared to be the owner took our order and served us our meal. We ordered spring rolls, coconut curry with tofu, lemongrass chili tofu, a Vietnamese coffee and a strawberry lemonade. The spring rolls were meant to be our shared appetizer but still hadn't appeared when our meals were served. After checking on us, I reminded our server about our spring rolls. What I'm used to calling spring rolls this restaurant calls salad rolls. The server very kindly exchanged the crispy spring rolls for the rice paper rolls I had intended to order. One star for this. I agree with fellow Yelper Dahlia that the food is bland and lacks the authentic flavors usually associated with Vietnamese cuisine, which I'm no stranger to. The Vietnamese coffee was quite tasty but the strawberry lemonade had no flavor and came in a chipped glass. A few other customers came in while we were there and several delivery orders were picked up so they do have some happy customers. I'm just not one of them. I wish them success tho. read more

We've eaten here several times and the food has been good, service and ambiance ok. This afternoon we were seated by a mature man who took our order , delivered it and that was it. Never saw him again, no one asked us how our meal was or if we needed anything and at the end of our meal, we had to get up and ask for some containers for our leftovers. The whole time we were eating, there were two and three youngsters have a very loud conversation among themselves. It's sad that an establishment doesn't see that there customers are important to there business. We will not be going back. read more

We ordered some food for take out yesterday. The items ordered included the Saigon Combination (vermicelli bowl) with grilled chicken, pork, beef, and shrimp; Beef Pho, and lemongrass beef rice dish. The beef pho was well packaged with the noodles still remaining pretty fresh. The broth of the pho was slightly sweet, but still tasty for the rainy day. We ordered wonton soup and the wontons were filled with RAW meat. Absolutely disgusting, we bit into one and realized something was really off. We are sick to our stomachs, never ever ever going here again. This is raw pork, you could seriously get someone really sick! We were in town visiting family and had stopped at Whole Foods. We were so hungry after traveling and shopping so we decided to stop here afterwards. We were quickly greeted and seated. There were plenty of choices on the menu that sounded wonderful. The Luc Lac Beef smelled so good when it came to the table and was also beautifully presented. The Fresh Rolls were beautiful and fresh as well. I had the Wonton Noodle Soup which was very good. Lots of fresh vegetables. At other restaurants this usually has shrimp and BBQ Pork in it as well, unfortunately here it does not. Otherwise, it was very tasty. I asked for chili oil to add to my soup. Lots of fresh toppings were supplied as well so I appreciate that as some places can be a little stingy. Dropping it a star, first experience that wasn't great. Hope this is not the new normal. Not busy but the server ignored us and was more focused on grub hub orders than us. People who were seated at the same time got their food quickly while ours took a long time in comparison. The lobster wontons were basically empty wonton wrappers with an air pocket in the middle. The soups were good, but there was no reason to wait as long as we did. Hopefully the next time is like my previous experiences here and I can move them back up. read more

After we left and driving back home, I still feel the salty taste of the spring rolls. The brisket from the beef pho, because I was so hungry to eat, I tried to chew them even I know already it was very tough from the first bite. I let the server know about the brisket but he just ok it and moved on. It didn't even bother them. So when I pay in the counter, i repeat myself telling them the brisket is so tough and it's so hard to chew but again he just nodded. I asked if you're going to tell your cook and he said that's how are brisket "that's normal" lol. I just simply said, I guess people in Beaverton have all strong teeth and he said yes. I went here after shopping with my family, there are many great vegetarian options, we had the egg plant clay pot, wokked green beans with tofu and red curry. Everything was beautiful and tasted delicious. Service was a bit slow, so ensure adequate time if dining in, seemed to be just one server but he was polite and everything was delivered hot and in a timely manner. I dislike giving one star reviews and only reserve it for food that is bad to point of being inedible. I ordered takeout via Uber eats and both phos (chicken and vegetable) were unbelievably oversalted. I have a large spectrum as far as salt goes, and this seemed as if a big vat of salt was accidentally dropped into the pho. It seems from other reviews that people have enjoyed the food; maybe it's a different experience when you dine in. Maybe if there something to moisten the dry noodles it would've been better? Squid was rubber, shrimp was okay but unseasoned. Salad rolls were pretty good. Pho was so sweet, like diabetes sweet.
