Saigon Basil offers a spacious and comfortable dining environment. I had heard many positive reviews about this restaurant, but unfortunately, when I tried it myself, the flavors did not live up to my expectations.

Dirty mop bucket water in plain view in dining area. Not the first time this was here with dirty water.

This place has really good food. But the cleanliness the last couple times is gross. Our table was not very clean and everything was sticky and even found a few hairs sticking to items at our table. Not to mention the last 2 times you walk in and it smells of cleaning products. When I eat I don't want to smell Fabulosa. Also, both times right outside the restroom/part of the eating area there was a tub of dirty water in the mop bucket. Ain't no way that nasty water was getting anything remotely clean. Also, bathrooms were dirty and one didn't even have toilet paper. Staff is hit or miss on friendliness. Food is always good I just wish they would keep it clean.

To be honest this is the worst pho I've ever had. First, they don't provide a plastic bowl for the noodle. So how am I supposed to eat it when I am in work. The answer they gave me was that usually you buy it home and use a bowl from your kitchen. Hahahahah. Who takes a bowl to work? And then they asked me to put the noodle into the container that is full of soup. Hahaha. Really bad experience.

Within in great driving distance from my house, yet today's ( Thursday) experience was not the best. I am curious when did Vietnamese egg rolls started coming with another sauce instead of fish sauce. Also, usually you would get enough lettuce for 4 egg rolls but are that bad off that I only got once slice and a small size to eat with 4 egg rolls. Its discouraging when your paying $5.95 + tax And you purchase two orders. Another thing I want to address is the customer service. I understand one of the workers had limited knowledge pf the English language. However, I believe the person who was in charge could have done a better job problem-solving the situation especially if you are the manager in charge. Perhaps more customer service training in troubleshooting situation with orders and customers. Although, I like the food I might have to think again it if I want to return.

The food is good, I've been a total of three times so far and I have good service. Place is chill and have good serving sizes. I come here for a quick meal.

I read on Nextdoor that they use MSG in their food. Does anyone know if this is true?

Nope not true. Very good food.

Came in for some vietnamese sandwiches ($5.50). I even told her "Hai Thit Nuong. Hai Combo" which means 2 pork banh mis and 2 combos. I even pointed at the menu and said Hai and Hai with 2 fingers held up. I only got 1 of each. That turned out to be a good thing bc they were just okay. My boyfriend's pork banh mi was not the typical thit nuong. Looked more like a pan or stir fried meat like shaking beef. Not grilled. My combo was not the typical lunch meat. It had cubes of pork (I assume) and chicken. There were some fatty pieces. The flavor was acceptable at least - marinated asian style. Not what I was expecting though. I also like the butter/lard that's typical of a banh mi, but it didn't taste the same (maybe more mayo-like). Very mom and pop shop. I am skeptical of the cleanliness honestly. She also had to take my credit card next door to the haircut place to run it. I'll be checking my account for any extra charges to be safe. Nice lady, but i won't be returning.

Knocking out a star because I came here when they first opened so they were still getting their system down. I translated for their customers and helped them take orders which I don't mind. What was a bit frustrating was they only had 1 person and their register didn't work either, and it took 10m to try to pay. It's been months now so hopefully they are running smoothly!

When an establishment gets the "people love us" acknowledgement from Yelp... you have to listen…read more Mama Le received that in 2024 and I never got to visit...until now. I was taking a loved one to the hospital and was starrrrving. I didn't want to eat at the hospital cafeteria, so I got in my car and ventured to see what was around the area. Immediately, I looked over and saw Mama Le. When I entered, I was met with a warm smile and a staff member, Amara, who was able to help me pick the best thing on the menu (based on what I can eat). She was incredibly helpful. I also wanted a drink because the pictures on the outside of the building alll looked so delicious. I ended up ordering the lemongrass beef with rice and also the slushie with passion fruit. My goodness. My my my my my. Complete tens across the board. The beautifully seasoned and tender beef, the delicious onions and peppers and the incredible aromatic waft that hits your nose upon every bite. It was a truly remarkable dish. "Spicy lemongrass onion beef"!!!!!!! And I'm a sucker for passion fruit anything and this absolutely did not miss the mark. So good so good. Sweet, satisfying, and fresh. The most delicious blend of the fruit with the mint. "Passion attractions"!!!!! Yep... Yelp. You got it right. Mama Le is THAT girl.

This place is a must try…read more When the waitress brought the food to the table, the aroma was incredible! Each of the rice dishes the family ordered, smelled so good. Honestly, I never thought to try fried chicken from a Vietnamese place, especially with fish sauce on it. The waitress said it is pretty popular, so I gave it a try. The fried chicken didn't have your typical floured batter, instead it was a marinated chicken leg and thigh, that was fried to be extra crispy, with a layer of fish sauce glaze that was probably the aroma I smelt. It was something I have never tasted before, and it was so delicious. It was a little salty, but that is what the rice, cucumbers and tomatoes are for, to help cut the saltiness. My younger kids order the chicken pho and salmon. The chicken pho was good. I snuck a little sip of the soup and it was a nice clean chicken pho soup. As for the salmon, I took a small bite and that was delicious. Okay, my kid ordered it well done (a crime), but it came out crispy on all sides. I don't know what was the seasoning on it, but it had a lot of flavor. There were a decent amount of vegetarian choices. My wife ordered the shaken tofu. She liked it, but it would be better if there were other veggies instead of peppers and onions. The second time we went, she got the tofu with vegetables, which wasn't as good as the shaken tofu. The ginger garlic sauce was good, but it was mainly tofu and cabbage. It is a small place, next to Memorial Herman Sugar Land. With all the construction going on, it could be easily missed.

Pho Ben is one of my favorite pho restaurants in the Houston area. It's located in Sugar Land…read morerather than Little Saigon, inside a large strip center with plenty of parking, which makes it very convenient. The restaurant itself is spacious, with lots of tables, including high-top seating and benches along the walls. There are easily a few dozen tables, so it can accommodate a big crowd. Even though it gets busy--especially around lunchtime on weekends--I rarely see a long wait because of how large the dining area is. Pho Ben offers excellent value. A small bowl of pho is $11 and a large is $12, with at least 15-20 different combinations of meats to choose from, including rare steak, brisket, tendon, tripe, and meatballs. One nice touch is that if you order rare steak, you can request it on the side, so it arrives on a separate plate and you can add it to your hot broth yourself and cook it exactly how you like. Each bowl also comes with the usual fresh garnishes like bean sprouts, mint, basil, and jalapeño. Service is always friendly and attentive, with multiple servers checking on tables. The pho usually comes out in about 10 minutes, piping hot, and the broth is consistently flavorful. This is one of my go-to pho spots in the Houston area, and I highly recommend it if you're in or around Sugar Land.
