I wanted to eat something tasty tonight for dinner without breaking the bank, and so I ended up ordering from Sahota's Live Grill. I ordered their butter chicken, butter naan, mixed raita, and cheese fingers. This order was placed and delivered via Uber Eats. When the food arrived, I opened it up to be greeted to the delivery, well packed and hot inside the custom delivery bag. A nice touch. From the onset of my unpacking, it was clear that I was in for a good meal. The butter chicken, I served into a small bowl, and took my first few bites. Spicy, creamy, and smooth, with tender chicken chunks and a pleasant aroma. The butter naan, the perfect chewy texture, baked just right, with a soft but firm mouthfeel. Absolutely delightful~ The mixed raita, was a little warm from the trip to my house, but was flavourful, clean, and the perfect cooldown alongside my nice hot curry. The cheese fingers.. paneer pakora but not called that on the menu. Soft, chewy, seasoned well, and served with a lovely chutney for dipping? Delicious. In both flavour and texture. 10/10, would highly recommend Sahota's Live Grill if you're looking for reasonably priced food, with big flavour, obviously made with care and experience. I'll surely be ordering again in future! A+~! read more

Worst service I was at this place first time and whenever you want to order anything they are out wtf

Lovely Indian restaurant with a large beverage menu! Their sweet lassi was huge and very delicious. They have a grill on each table but that takes a lot of space especially when there are only a handful of menu options that are a part of the live grill. Wish they had more items on the menu which were live grill as the name says it. My favourite dish was the paneer chettinad which was super cocounutty and spicy! Their restaurant space is huge and can accommodate a large group. They also have a robot waitress that delivers your food but unfortunately, we weren't able to experience that. read more

!! DO NOT EAT HERE!! Ordered fish pakora and lamb vindaloo. Food tasted off so luckily I stopped eating it. Within 1-1.5 hours I started violently vomiting and spent the next 8 hours hovering over the toilet. Been awake for over 24hours because I can't leave the bathroom. Wish I saw the Yelp reviews instead of Google. The wait staff show an enthusiasm to the food that we wished the kitchen would have matched. Paneer platter was average with lackluster flavors. The only high point was that the paneer was soft. Avoid the OG dal makhni as it had no connection with how a dal makhni tastes like. There are other restaurants in Surrey that do a much better job. Jeera Rice was boiled and not how other Indian restaurants serve. Soya chaap Tikka masala was really bad and avoid at all cost. The gravy was very pronounced of onion-ginger-garlic. I wish they had fried the masala for a bit longer. Never ever ever ever coming back here. read more

I ordered takeout: Fish pakora and navratan (mixed vegetable). Before I ordered, I checked pictures of the navratan on their website. It was full of vegetables. However, what I got was a container of sauce with a few pieces baby carrot and a few pieces of green bean. There wasn't enough vegetable to feed one person. A few pieces of baby carrots and a few pieces of green bean is NOT mixed vegetables. The navratan cost $18 and all I got was a container of sauce. The fish parkora had no taste and too much batter. The take out place at 184 St. and 64 Ave. has a lot better food than Sahota's Live Grill and excellent pizza. Sahota's is a ripoff. Food is terrible. read more

This place is decent with decent food (have definitely had better Indian food), but the price is right --- $15.99 for 5 course meal. So, myself and some work chums went there for a Christmas gathering of sorts to scoop on a great deal. It is a great deal at this price. We ordered less than what we thought we could eat because we wanted to make sure that we didn't have leftovers. Well, we did have leftovers even though we were careful to order *under* the amount that was recommended per person. At the end of the meal, however, we did have quite a bit leftover. So, we asked for some take out containers so that the food wouldn't go to waste. We were told "No". So, then we asked "Are you just going to throw this in the garbage?" And she said "No, we give it to homeless people." But then someone who knows FoodSafe said "That's not foodsafe. You can't do that, you'll get in big trouble. You should just let us take it because legally we are the only ones that can consume it." Flustered, the waitress went and got a senior server. She came and told us that they would indeed be throwing out the food (so the other server lied to us). We were shocked. In this day and age, when there is so much pressure to NOT BE WASTEFUL, this is your suggestion for all this food? It could have easily fed 4 more people (we were thinking of lunches for us the next day). The photos posted are of what was leftover. It made us sick. We understood that their reason (though they did not state this directly) that they would not want word to get out that you can over order and then take food back to feed your family, but come on. You seriously can't think of an alternate way to alleviate over ordering and this much waste? It is so gross to think of all this food that went in the garbage (do you really think they composte? My thinking is NO). Most all you can eat places put restrictions like max orders on certain items, timed ordering, etc. You don't just let people have a free for all and then huck pounds of food into the garbage bin. None of us in our party of 6 will ever go there again based on this principle. So, if their idea was to SAVE money by throwing out this food, well, you just lost a whole lot of business. Not wise. I called em one time at 1200AM (yes they open until 3AM), n asked I for shrimp biryani take out, n they said they didnt have shrimp biryani at that hour, so then i asked for another item, n that too they didnt have. As I had heard a radio advertisement of this place so I went to check it out for lunch today. Its an "l" shaped small restaurant with enough parking outside on a non business day . Nothing outstanding about the interior but its all clean n fresh( including washrooms). Bar at the entrance . At one corner there is a small party hall . I mean it's more of a separate dinning area as u cannot hold more than 25 people there. The rates were too high for per plate per person. $25 per plate with 3 main course n 3 appetizers. . Live grill concept is only for appetizers. It was all empty at 2:00 pm n after we arrived few more people came to try this place just we went or maybe for gol-gappa complimentary starter / street food. Well !! it was commendable that how they had used Bellini glasses to serve gol-gappa Food wise the place is ok. Tried paneer bhurji n chicken roganjosh which could have been far better then just gravy n chicken pieces . Lacha prantha"s were incredibly soft n fresh so love them for that. Since it was my cousins birthday so we ordered chocolate cake desert on the menu which they presented nicely with a candle ( very thoughtful of them n I really liked the gesture). The taste wasn't that good again. It seemed like a piece of big cake from Safeway . Hopeful to try new dishes next time. But yah check it out for urself. Cheers!! read more

I was very disappointed with my experience here. First this live grill is nothing more than a low watt heater that is built into the table. It's just gimmicky and none of the grilling is done at the table but in the kitchen. Our meat skewer wasn't even very warm. The prices of this is ridiculous. $22 veg/$25 meat for 4-5 skewers? The profit margin on this must be ridiculous. The cocktails were all around $13...I instead ordered a coke...was completely flat. The worst part was this. I have a nut allergy which I told them before ordering. I mentioned it to the waitress three times. I ordered an item on the menu that didn't list nuts (other menu items did list nuts). When I got the dish I took a small taste to see if it was spicy for my son. In that instant I knew it had nuts in it as I got the itchy tongue and hard to swallow reaction Immediately. I asked the waitress if there was nuts in this dish. She went back to the kitchen and then returned and told me yes, then walked off. I went and spoke to the manager. She was apologetic and took it off the bill and gave me a discount. I don't feel like it had much of an impact though, and something like this could easily happen to someone else. All in all gimmicky, average food, overpriced and does not take allergies seriously. read more

This new resto and banquet hall just opened and the place is newly renovated throughout. I like the crocodile print upholstered, comfy, high backed booths to sit in. The have unique faux mini fireplaces hanging on the walls like paintings with smoke coming out of them, which I think comes from smoke machine liquid. Suffice it to say the ambiance is hip and fun. The food is first rate and really spiced well. Definitely will be coming back read more

Very unhappy with the service. No complimentary gol gappeh as others have received. The whole "live grill" experience is a sham. The food is made out back and brought to the table and placed on what is essentially a heater. We ordered 3 dishes: kadahi paneer, mushroom mattar and shahhi paneer. The kadahi paneer and mushroom mattar were so spicy, we went through 3 jugs of water, which we had to ask for because the complimentary single bottle of Sahota branded water tasted bad. After telling the server that the food was too spicey, she was kind enough to have it made again, but still spicey. We also ordered the shahhi paneer at this time. Bad idea. It looked like the water with turmeric powder and raw pieces of paneer. No spices. No masala. Nothing. My kids were sweating because of how spicey the food was. Thanks Sahota for ruining a family birthday. Never again. read more

We waited over 20 minutes staring at our waters before the server finally came to take our order. They were too busy worrying about the people who were already seated and eating. When we finally ordered the food took so long to arrive, the appetizer samosas were disgusting and too spicy. The chicken tikka and paneer tikkas were so charred. Who wants to eat that it seems the kitchen staff only burn the food and cannot cook it properly. The food didn't taste fresh. When the entrees came the naan was burned and rock hard and not hot temperature wise with barely any garlic and very little butter. The butter chicken was cold and overly salty and there was a piece of plastic that I almost choked on in it. When I showed the server there was a fake apology but no discount to keep us coming back so we left no tip for such horrible service. At the cash register the woman couldn't even split our bill she claimed to be the owner yet she didn't know how to operate the cash register. The milkshake was just a ball of ice cream floating around in milk. I would never recommend this horrible place to anyone. The salad was soggy and the lettuce was wilted. The only food that tasted decent was the ice cream dessert. Save your money and go elsewhere you are appreciated and the food is good. I would recommend Tasty's or Tandoori Flame or Mehfil over this gongshow any day. We won't ever been back. read more

We all shriek but the waitress continues to take our order like nothing had happened call the inspection guys and they sad not to go anywhere on 72nd in Surrey because it's all infected the only thing restaurants can do is take proper precautions like have traps set up !! My family, guests, and I had the best time at Sahota's Live Grill! No more than two weeks ago, my wife and I hosted a private lunch here. The servers were full of personality and fully attentive. I've eaten Indian food all over the world and the food here was fantastic. It's unfortunate that I don't live closer to Sahota's -- if I did I would eat here a lot of the time. I was super disappointed with the service, the servers didn't really come around to check up on how we were doing and the live grill is useless. They make it in the back and put it on a heater which is super pointless. The restaurant is small and the food does not make up for that or the crappy service. I've been here many times since its opened and have referred a lot of my family and friends to this restaurant but keep forgetting to write a review. I have to say this is one of my favourite indian restaurants in the lower mainland. Every time I come out to surrey, its a routine to stop in and have dinner, lunch or appies here. The food is absolutely amazing, drinks aren't bad either, and the service is unexceptional. The staff is so polite and helpful with suggestions. The only dish im not a fan of here is the golguppay. They used to have a different water when they first opened but have changed the ingredients now which isn't my fav. but other than that one dish, everything else is sooo good, and the vegetarian selection is soo good that its hard to choose a favourite. I'm not Indian, but I have friends who own Indian restaurants so I know roughly how the business works and what the standards should be. This restaurant surpasses any in the area for freshness and quality of product. I ate the Paluk Paneer and it was thick, and the flavours amazing. The paneer wasn't dry like it usually is at most places. The service was really good. Polite, but not in-your-face. I don't like in your face. They have also spent considerable amounts of money on the interior and some of the finishing touches really make it feel cozy (cool little fireplace things, nice flooring, etc). Essentially, a upper-middle high end experience for a price that felt really approachable. This is the first place where I feel I can truly recommend my friends visit. I hope they keep this standard over the years! Great job! read more
