This place is decent with decent food (have definitely had better Indian food), but the price is right --- $15.99 for 5 course meal. So, myself and some work chums went there for a Christmas gathering of sorts to scoop on a great deal. It is a great deal at this price. We ordered less than what we thought we could eat because we wanted to make sure that we didn't have leftovers. Well, we did have leftovers even though we were careful to order *under* the amount that was recommended per person. At the end of the meal, however, we did have quite a bit leftover. So, we asked for some take out containers so that the food wouldn't go to waste. We were told "No". So, then we asked "Are you just going to throw this in the garbage?" And she said "No, we give it to homeless people." But then someone who knows FoodSafe said "That's not foodsafe. You can't do that, you'll get in big trouble. You should just let us take it because legally we are the only ones that can consume it." Flustered, the waitress went and got a senior server. She came and told us that they would indeed be throwing out the food (so the other server lied to us). We were shocked. In this day and age, when there is so much pressure to NOT BE WASTEFUL, this is your suggestion for all this food? It could have easily fed 4 more people (we were thinking of lunches for us the next day). The photos posted are of what was leftover. It made us sick. We understood that their reason (though they did not state this directly) that they would not want word to get out that you can over order and then take food back to feed your family, but come on. You seriously can't think of an alternate way to alleviate over ordering and this much waste? It is so gross to think of all this food that went in the garbage (do you really think they composte? My thinking is NO). Most all you can eat places put restrictions like max orders on certain items, timed ordering, etc. You don't just let people have a free for all and then huck pounds of food into the garbage bin. None of us in our party of 6 will ever go there again based on this principle. So, if their idea was to SAVE money by throwing out this food, well, you just lost a whole lot of business. Not wise. Change your policy.

As I had heard a radio advertisement of this place so I went to check it out for lunch today. Its an "l" shaped small restaurant with enough parking outside on a non business day . Nothing outstanding about the interior but its all clean n fresh( including washrooms). Bar at the entrance . At one corner there is a small party hall . I mean it's more of a separate dinning area as u cannot hold more than 25 people there. The rates were too high for per plate per person. $25 per plate with 3 main course n 3 appetizers. . Live grill concept is only for appetizers. It was all empty at 2:00 pm n after we arrived few more people came to try this place just we went or maybe for gol-gappa complimentary starter / street food. Well !! it was commendable that how they had used Bellini glasses to serve gol-gappa Food wise the place is ok. Tried paneer bhurji n chicken roganjosh which could have been far better then just gravy n chicken pieces . Lacha prantha"s were incredibly soft n fresh so love them for that. Since it was my cousins birthday so we ordered chocolate cake desert on the menu which they presented nicely with a candle ( very thoughtful of them n I really liked the gesture). The taste wasn't that good again. It seemed like a piece of big cake from Safeway . Hopeful to try new dishes next time. But yah check it out for urself. Cheers!!

Solid Spot in the Mall, But Some Temperature Issues…read more This was my first time at this particular Ustaad G location, though I'm familiar with the chain. It's situated inside a shopping mall and was pleasantly clean and not too crowded when I visited. I was seated right away, and the waitress was excellent--attentive and checked on me multiple times to ensure everything was good. I ordered my all-time favourite, the Amritsari Kulcha. The bread itself was fantastic and arrived piping hot, just as it should. However, the dish was a bit inconsistent. While the kulcha was hot, the accompanying chickpeas and condiments were only lukewarm. As a former restaurant owner myself, I'm a stickler for this: hot food should be served hot across the board. The portion size was okay, but the garnish was surprisingly minimal--just a few sparse pieces of carrot that looked a bit sad in the tray (see my photo). Despite that, the core flavours were enjoyable. It's not the same as what you'd find in Amritsar, but it's a satisfying dish. Pricewise, well this is Canada and in line with the economy. My Ratings: Ambience: 4/5 - Clean and modern. Service: 5/5 - Prompt and very attentive. Food & Value: 3.5/5 - Tasty, but the temperature issue and skimpy garnish hold it back. A good meal, but with a little more attention to detail on the kitchen line, it could be a great one.

Both were very tasty (authentic, not watered down to cater to the masses/non-Indians). And very filling. Very friendly dude in the front, and he was happy to help identify the dishes that were already vegan or could easily be made vegan. 10/10 would recommend. We'll definitely be going back for more. FYI, for any vegans reading this review - this place (Namdhari) makes the food from scratch, unlike a lot of other Indian places we called in the area. The other places told us that they pre-make the bases (i.e. tarka) which include dairy (butter, ghee), so they aren't able to veganize their dishes.

The venue is quite large, and it was packed. There is also a covered N facing patio, which I am sure is nice in the summer evenings. The interior decor is definitely on the fancier side. Staff were scrambling all over. Place sure was busy. The selection is definitely quite remarkable. There are dozens of curries (most I've seen anywhere), and stations for salad, meat, and dessert. The lineups are honestly a bit chaotic, and some lines moved much faster than others for some reason. The trick is to pace oneself and hit each station individually. Also helps to carry 2 plates. Food quality was honestly average. It is a buffet after all. With that said, I definitely got my fill. Be sure to leave some room at the end for ice cream. The place is definitely worth trying once for the experience.

There are 2 locations - this location can walk in to order any kind of samosa, while the other location will require preorder 1 day notice for samosas that are not the potato & peas original one. I went here on a Saturday 11am and there was a good amount of people picking up bulk orders, but since we wanted to try the quality of the samosas, we ordered by the piece. Each piece is around 1-2 CAD each which is very good price. We got 1 of each (potato & peas (original), garden mix vegetables, beef, chicken, paneer, and butter chicken). We got a small tamarind chutney sauce for 0.50CAD extra. Total was around 9 CAD which is quite a solid price for a meal for 1 person (snack for 2 people). I liked their potato & peas (original) the most and all their vegetarian options are solid. The meat options are more ground meat so I'm not that big of a fan, but they're still good. It's just the value lies in the vegetarian samosas. Next time I bring a cooler and order in bulk, to enjoy at the comfort of my home for multiple meals!

The price of the samosa is also decent, starting from $1.10 or so, much cheaper than in the Indian restaurants. I don't like that the sauce is not included and you have to pay extra for that.
