Our friends ordered this for take out so I got try it for the first time. We are from Montreal, Canada. I've travelled a bit all over and have tasted my fair share of pizzas over a lifetime, however Sahara still stood out with delicious toppings, crust and sauce. The flavor combinations are unique and the dough is special. There's just something about it that makes it memorable. We tried the bbq chicken pizza and some type of supreme with had pepperonis, peppers and mushroom. There's a distinctive spice to the tomato sauce, it doesn't taste like all other pizzas out there. Around 130 pm there is a manager who is constantly rude to me. He has a beard and a deaper voice. He holds priority to customers who come in after me, he constantly mispronounced my name to the opposite set when I've made it clear that I want to be called Eri, he calls me Gary or Harry. He made the pizza I ordered today in a way that made me vomit in my mouth and I had to throw it all away (half maybe) after tipping generously because I had some sympathy, maybe a rough month or day. I have never been treated worse at a restaurant. Great pizza, but it took forever to be delivered. We ordered through door dash- getting cheese bread, a pepperoni and salami pizza, a meat combo, and the Buffalo chicken one that I can't remember the name of. That one was the favorite by far! We definitely over-ordered since the 16 inches were way bigger than expected. So we had pizza leftovers for breakfast for a couple more days. Ordered a 16" Sahara pizza from door dash along with the cinnamon sticks. Everything was decent, but I personally wasn't a fan of their "premium mozzarella blend"... I generally like mozzarella because it isn't too cheesy and doesn't leave a weird taste in your mouth, but I feel like their mozzarella did taste really cheesy which made the pizza taste kinda weird. The cinnamon sticks are alright, I like that they aren't coated in sugar and have just the right amount of cinnamon -- but the oil that they use tastes weird and leaves some odd chemical/old oil taste on the bread that takes away from the joy of eating it. We had leftovers so we separated the rest of the cinnamon sticks out of the container so they weren't being drowned in oil, so they tasted better afterwards. read more

We stopped coming here over five years ago after finding hair in our pizza. We heard there was a new owner, so we decided to give it another shot. We tried ordering on the website multiple times and it kept failing, so we called our order in of pizza and wings. We showed up at the restaurant about 20 minutes later, only to witness the employee using her bare hands to grab our chicken wings. The two employees took their time coming to the counter and we noticed two other customers come in and their orders weren't ready either. We get home and opened the box to see undercooked wings. 6 wings for $8.99. We were hopeful with a new owner, but it's still the same, unsanitary establishment. Back to Domino's. read more

Pretty good quality pizza. The prices are a bit high but considering it's MI and they have high rent, taxes and utilities you have to understand their overhead. Occasionally their website has ordering issues, so I recommend calling instead of online ordering. They have a good daily lunch special, 5$ for a personal pizza. It's a hit and miss with this pizza joint. First time I ordered pizza was smothered with cheese and hot wings was so yummy . Second time I ordered pizza I asked them to go easy on the cheese and the wings was overcooked . Super kind and attentive staff. They work very hard to be celiac friendly. Their gluten free pizza is very good. They even gave my kids a make your own pizza kit for home (not gluten free). Not sure if it is a normal thing or just a covid19 promotion. This was our first time here and now we definitely want to come back. Horrible service. Stood at the door way. No one would acknowledge. I said excuse me politely to get their attention and the guy just waved and kept going. The woman was on the phone and wouldn't look up. For the price of these pizzas, youd think a "Hi" would be nice. I had a phone order so I just needed to pay and that was a struggle. A few weekends ago, we were over at our friends' home having a rollicking time playing games of the board and video variety. As the hour grew later, we grew lazier and hungrier. Since none of us wanted to venture out into the cold, our options for food were few. Our host suggested that we go simple and order some pizza. For five people, we ordered a pair of medium pizzas and a large garden salad, the latter of which was my main meal for the night. The two pizzas were a simple Hawaiian and a carnivore's delight called the Lion's Feast. I had a slice of the Hawaiian and while the toppings were plentiful without being overly cheesy, it had too much sauce for my liking. I will always order pies with less sauce but your mileage may vary, and you may prefer a wetter pizza. I can't comment on their restaurant. Our host ran to pick them up en route to the local QFC. I can comment though that the ingredients were fresh, the salad was abundantly packed into the takeaway container and by the end of the night... there was no more pizza left. All in all, I don't know what other options exist on Mercer for pizza but this one will do in a pinch. read more

The people here are wonderful and very welcoming. I got an order of their chicken pasta.There was at least a pound and a half of pasta, plenty of alfredo sauce just the way I like it, and cubed chicken sprinkled all around. It wasn't gourmet, but it was still delicious. Plus it was large enough for two full meals, and that's quite a statement considering I eat as much as a sumo wrestler. I recommend eating either here or the teriyaki joint next door if you are ever on this side of the island. Can't go wrong with either. read more

I work at AAA and have been ordering Sahara for a few months now for large meetings. Sometimes i'll order in the morning before they open and have always received the pizza by noon!! They are wonderful to deal with and very accommodating. I highly recommend this place. Horrible! How anyone can say this is the best pizza on the Island is beyond me. I know Mercer Island isn't known for it's wonderful food, but come on! Sahara is about the same price as Mo's, but I think Mo's is a far, far better pie. If I'm not lazy and have time to get it and fix it myself, I'd go with Zaw for a take and bake. But Mo's isn't far behind. My Sahara pizza. Not very flavorful. Plus the dough was tossed so the middle was paper thin and the edges were thicker. The middle was so soft that when I tried to pick up a piece, it basically disintegrated. The thinness also made all the cheese melt into the middle upon cooking leaving the outer half devoid of anything but an overwhelming amount of sauce. The green peppers were cut in large chunks so they hardly cooked at all. The crust, pepperoni and sausage were also devoid of any particular flavor. Not a huge deal, but when I ordered online I asked, in the comments, how I use the $3 off coupon which was also online. I asked if I needed to print it out or if it could just be applied to my order upon my request. No one contacted me and when the pizza arrived, the delivery guy said they can only use coupons when orders are called in. There is a glitch in the online ordering system. So, let me get this straight. If I verbally call in an order on the phone, they can deduct the coupon, but if I ask, in writting, when ordering online, they can't manually deduct the $3. Whatever. I don't know. I was not impressed, at all, with their pizza. The fact I would take the time to log on to write this should tell you something. Such a disappointment. I found myself the other night with 4 kids to feed from the ages of 10 to 15. 2 girls, 2 boys, 4 opinions, 2 picky palates, 1 no sauce, 1 pizza hater (HUH?!? what kid hates pizza?!?) and 1 increasingly frustrated adult (me, duh). I was on Mercer Island with my kids, niece & nephew and a magnetic menu stuck to the oven from Sahara Pizza. 1 phone call and 34 minutes later, I had 2 pizzas, 1 order of cheesy breadsticks, 1 large caesar salad, 12 barbeque wings and 4 blissfully quiet and contented kids. Does it really matter how good the pizza was? It wasn't really to my taste, but then again I didn't get the Margherita Pizza I wanted since I would be the only one eating it. Waste not, want not. Well, no waste, but I still wanted. The bacon cheeseburger pizza topping was too crumbly - I like large chunks, but the no-sauce pepperoni wasn't bad. They added extra cheese to make up for the lack of sauce I think so it was more like slices of cheesy breadsticks with pepperoni. Melted cheese is good. The salad was so-so, some of the lettuce was wilted and brown - yuck - but they ate it anyway. Like they had a choice. Kids need greens even when they're brown. It's a mom thing. I really liked the wings. Not overcooked, and not drowning in overpowering sauce. My sister tells me the gourmet pizzas are really, really good. I wouldn't know. I used to order pizza from here all the time. Also, when my quartet for Solo and Ensemble rehearsed at one of the violinist's, Antti N.'s house, we would order dinner from here. The pizza here isn't the best I've ever had, but decent. The crust is thin, crunchy, and topped with toppings of all kinds, as well as loads of mozzarella cheese. The pizzas here all have different, creative names. My favorites include: Pumba, Northwest Territory, Landmark, and Tikki Tikki, and Caribbean Crunch. The Pumba is topped with pesto sauce, roma tomatoes, marinated artichoke hearts, kalamata olives, feta cheese, and fresh garlic. I never miss the meat when I eat this pizza. My favorite part is the pesto sauce, for sure. The Northwest Territory is layered with pesto sauce, chopped walnuts, mushrooms, apple slices, cinnamon, onions, fresh garlic, and gorgonzola cheese. It reminds me of home. (= The Tikki Tikki is topped off with pesto sauce, your choice of dijon or BBQ chicken, feta cheese, pineapple, marinated artichoke hearts, and fresh garlic. This is kind of like an island pizza, very delicious! The Landmark is layered with sun dried tomato pesto sauce, spinach leaves, fresh ricotta cheese, parmesan cheese, fresh garlic, and your choice of seasoned ground beef of old world sausage. Truly yummy! The fresh ricotta cheese is heavenly. The Caribbean Crunch is topped with sun dried tomato pesto sauce, your choice of dijon or BBQ chicken, sliced almonds, tropical mango, feta cheese, and fresh garlic.
