We were welcomed upon entering the main lodge, the outside and inside of the lodge building was pleasingly decorated, the employee in charge was friendly and laid back, helpful, and very patient with us as we decided on our supper choices and found our table, the lodge was clean, neat, did not smell bad, the fireplace had a nice warm fire going with several comfortable chairs and a couch in front of it, the dining room was spacious, there were several delicious choices for supper (we ordered a Hawaiian pizza!), there were many alcohol choices, snacks, a well-stocked side room with many essentials for campers, hunters, etc., big windows on one whole side of the lodge that afforded nice views of the beautiful Grand Mesa mountains. The staff here was so kind, helpful and down to earth, we were on a first name basis with everyone. There's a restaurant which serves all local farm to table food and coffee, a fully stocked bar, game room, hot tub, fire pits, super great massage chair, and we even went on a snow cat tour. I guess my purpose of never going in was that we came in on the other side of the mountain (Off of McClure Pass), and never really ventured into the "Hubbard Park" area. We always had our big wall tents, wood burning stoves, and food for the week. So I guess we never really needed to venture that way. Let me tell you we were MISSING OUT on something amazing. I ended up venturing over into that area due to the dry season, high temperatures, and the sparse amount of elk in the area that I am usually in. I got a tip from someone about a place in Hubbard Park so decided to go check it out! First the spot was amazing, and was what I hunted for the rest of the season. However, after my first night scouting the area I decided to stop in for a beer and a meal at electric lodge. First, The staff is amazing! From the back kitchen staff, the bartenders, the waitress's, the bar backs, etc! You all rock! Super friendly, great to talk too, funny to be around (I love sarcasm and they could all read that). The place was clean, warm, and rustic truly made my hunting trip feel even more amazing. The food was great (Only criticism is a little pricey, but hey supply and demand so no complaints). The beer was cold and in a clean glass so no complaints there (Also reasonably priced). The next night I ended up bringing my whole hunting crew over for dinner and some beers after our evening hunt. They all enjoyed it and we had probably some of the best brisket and smoked sausages I have had in a long long time. We all talked about looking in one year of just staying at the lodge instead of setting up our camp. It wont be an every year stay, but worth looking into every few years. However, even if we set up our own camp you can sure as heck no that we will be stopping in for at least one night each year. Great work Electric Lodge! Great work Electric Lodge Staff! My husband booked this stay as an anniversary get-away. We knew it was going to be rustic. We didn't prepare ourselves for it being unsafe. We stayed in cabin 15. I cannot speak of the cleanliness or safety of the other cabins. Please, before booking cabin 15 at Mesa Lodge, be aware that the steps are unsafe. As noted in the pictures, they should be replaced immediately. I spoke to the co-owner and she said, "They have been that way for years." When the rain started, my husband did not want me using the stairs. He was fearful of me falling. Well, he FELL twice. We went to the main lodge to be moved but they were closed. At this point, we returned the key and headed to Grand Junction. The following morning my husband called to request our money be refunded. The co-owner did call us back and said she would discuss it with her husband. We have heard nothing. Positives of Mesa Lake Lodge: The area is phenomenal. The drive is break taking. The beauty and tranquility of the trees and water make it a gem of a location. We ate in the lodge. The meal was very good. We both loved the French fries. The hostess was nice. They did offer a military discount. As of July 2024: The Mesa Lakes Lodge has been in contact with my husband. They issued a refund. Thank you so much! We appreciate it.

11/09/2025 In…read morewriting this review, I have to admit I have a bone to pick with Ben Lowe and his usury pricing in taking a minor on a tandem. I communicated with Ben on several occasions by email and he had plenty of time to let me know that he charges more to take a minor on a tandem jump than his normal fee of $199. He waited until we'd driven 3 1/2 hours and I'm stand at his office window with my 14 year old daughter to tell me the fee was $499. When I questioned the amount he said since he's the only one willing to take minors on a tandem, that what he charges. Well that's a lie and he knows it. The skydiving center in Ft. Morgan Colorado will also take minors. They have new equipment and top notch instructors. You walk into Ben's hanger and it's an unorganized mess with old parachutes and gear cluttered here and there. Totally unprofessional in appearance. His tandem rigs look well worn and tired, like he might have bought all his equipment used a long time ago. None of this inspires confidence. His video is a bit of a scam. Normally you pay the video fee expecting another jumper to shoot video and pics while in free fall with you. You're paying for their jump as well as their services. Ben has a little hand held camera on his wrist and shoots the video himself. Not nearly the same quality you get from a professional photographer, yet he charges the same price. When it came to the jump, on exiting the Cessna 182 with my 90 pound daughter, Ben did a barrel roll and what looked like a front flip, not a flat and stable exit. If you can't do a stable exit with a 90 pound passenger, what's going to happen with someone weighing 150 pounds or more? Not very professional. The lack of organization of this whole business make me question how well they maintain the aircraft. Ultimately, he has antiquated equipment, a difficult demeanor and price gouges you for taking a minor on a tandem. There's plenty of other skydiving centers which operate on a much more professional basis and I will choose to go somewhere else next time.

Ben was so professional, super fun and a wonderful guide. We bought the video/ photo combo package for our daughter, but now wish we had sprung for it for my husband and I as well. The add on for the video/ photos is a little price, but he edits it, sends several options with different styles and music along with great photos, money well spent. the entire experience was beyond thrilling and we can't wait to return!
