My cat was sick and this and vca were the only place open. I called on a Sunday around 11am there was no wait and they said to go over. This place is more like an emergency room for animals. The place is huge with a ton of parking. It does feel like an emergency room. I was the only one there so I was checked in. My cat had a fever and was not eating. They got me right into a room within 10 minutes. They said everything seem okay but that they had to do X-rays and probably give antibiotics because of the fever. I had a pet die in the past so I think i just agreed to the price $1,960 for a fever! I had to leave her there for a few hours then they called me to pick her up. They just gave antibiotics said her heart looked inlarged. They gave me cat food and some medicine to put on her ear to make her hungry. They reimbursed me $50. So total was $1,900 for a fever. I personally think the price was outrageous. The care and place was nice but the price is too high!

I'm going to start by saying, Dr Jack (Jack Meagher) saved our cat, Ruby's, life. Ruby came into the ER after being diagnosed at another emergency vets office. It was touch and go for a few days, but Dr Jack thought outside of the box and figured out what was really going on with Ruby and saved her. His entire team was so friendly and took super good care of our baby. After seeing how kind they were, and babied our Ruby, I trust them 100% with Rubys care. The cardiologist (Dr Lori Siemens) who we also saw was just as kind and gave us all the information, plus some, that we needed. We will be seeing Dr Siemens again in the near future and since Ruby will need to be seen by a cardiologist for the rest of her life I'm glad it's her.

My wife surprised me with a puppy that I felt so attached to. Well it turned out to have parvo, they wanted 4 to 6 k to treat him or 1100 for home care. Meaning there just giving me meds and pretty much I take care of him. So I'm assuming meds were 1100 then another 180 for next visit and could be more money after. 4to 6 k I can't get over that for what medication and a place to stay. I'm better off renting a hotel, basically medication is what I'm being charged. It's sick how could ppl afford this it's disgusting the price for medication. Then charged me 600 to put my little guy down I'm heartbroken from I'm also upset at the service to just say we can put him down for 600 because there price was outrageous. I will never forgive them, I hope they all sleep better knowing that they do this. Do not come to this place unless you have deep pockets. Long story short. I was forced to put him down. I wanted to pay half now half later. I hate this place

Unfortunately we have been here more times than I'd care to admit but they have taken excellent care of our pets each and every time.

Any feedback on their canine cardiologist?

Hi Paola! Thanks for asking about our cardiologists! Dr. Sara Johns and Dr. Lori Siemens are both wonderful, providing us 5 day per week cardiology. We've been receiving lots of positive reviews on both doctors.

    How are the canine oncologist?

I believe the only oncologist is in Campbell. I had to take my dog to UC Davis. SAGE is really… Read more

It has taken me a while to decide whether or not to write this review, but I thought I should share…read moremy experience so that others could be well prepared if they are making the decision to bring their dog here for euthanasia. For starters, the reason why I came here was from the phone call I had prior to making this very difficult decision. The person on the phone was very polite and reassuring so I thought this would be a good place. However, I did not realize that the hospital is open area concept and all exams/ procedures are happening right in the center of the room, unless you go into a private room which is where I went. Truth is I never experienced having to put down a soul dog before and the pain is truly unbearable. And being there didn't make it easy because there was no awareness for me and my loved one. The walls feel paper thin and you can hear everything that's happening outside your room. From the laughter to the jokes techs are making which I have no problem with but I had wish someone on the team would had made it aware to staff members that someone in the room next to them is losing their loved one please keep it down so we can respect this moment and mainly just have some Empathy for what's happening, even if it's just for a bit I understand life and work keeps moving but even it had been 30 mins that would have been appreciated..Also there's nothing positive about having to pick a urn and pay a bill before he is put to sleep that needs to wait in my opinion... All in all had I know this I wouldn't have decided to bring him to the ER however his symptoms didn't allow me to do it at home ..or else I wish I would have after this experience I don't think this place is bad I just think there needs to be improvement when it comes to euthanasia at this facility. Having awareness and empathy can go a long way I did speak with someone to voice my concerns and she apologized which I appreciated very much. Just want to recommend people to ask the right questions and remind them this decision does not come likely to make sure you don't go through something like this. So I'm sure they are great in other area is was just this experience that was tough to have

Wow, I had only ever been to the Emergency place on E. Francisco, off the freeway in San Rafael…read more Being in So.Ma(rin) VEG was closer (old Tower records spot that is now Trader Joe's off the Freeway to the right- before Sir Francis Drake/Larkspur Landing Exit w/BEVMo -next to TJs and World Market) and although seems small from the front was spacious and modern and fully staffed & equipped for an emergency. I had spent the night debating if I should take my Pug in or not- for potential Aspiration Pneumonia- (wet loud barking sound) and how they can go from better to bad at day 3-7! Anyways, I tried my vet first in the AM and she had explained that they needed X-rays and to hold her - would maybe need to be put under- and for a brachiocephalious dog- if she took a turn while under(wet lungs) they would NOT have what they need to save her- ie oxygen etc to intubate her. So, my Doc made notes and sent over to them, while I headed over. Was greeted by very friendly staff in a clean tidy spacious space. It was probably 8:30am. I was the only customer. Saw Dr Anderson who went over her history of the many recent things that got us to this moment. She did a quick Sonogram? To look at her lungs to see if she could see foreign matter in her lungs. Yes. They were able to do X-rays and not put her under. They were able to discover this GI issue we have been trying to solve- which put her on rice and cottage cheese which led to it in her lungs- and then this Xray. They prescribed Amoxicillin and cans of a Hill's Rx diet. She just finished all that and really has been doing better each day that passes. I just really appreciated the Doctor's thoughtful process and everything we needed for success. She was luckily on the upswing. *This is the Modern ER for your pets. Totally would recommend to everyone. Call ahead or just go- they are helpful either way. They are 24hours open.

Wow, what an incredible team at VEG Veterinary Emergency Group in Larkspur!…read more Our 7-year old pup had been lethargic and occasionally yelping in pain, and we knew we wouldn't be able to get into our regular vet until Tuesday at the earliest. So we called VEG on a Sunday - we were able to speak with Dr. Tracy and she was helpful over the phone. Given his age and handful of symptoms, she did recommend a visit. I brought him in around noon on a Sunday and thankfully beat the rush. VEG is located in a BUSY shopping center with Trader Joe's and Cost Plus. Thankfully they have a few dedicated parking spots out front. We were triaged in the waiting area, and our whole visit took place there. They have dog beds to make the pups/pets comfortable and water/coffee/snacks to make the humans comfortable. The space is light and bright and very welcoming. Most of the team got down to my pup's level and checked him out on the floor - what a lovely touch to make the experience less stressful for my pup (rather than elevating him on a table). Dr. Tracy and Team took great care of us. My guy had an ultrasound and some bloodwork taken, and nothing major was detected. What a huge relief. They were communicative and clear about wait time and pricing. They gave us an anti-inflamtory for the likely neck pain and a script for a pain med, if needed. We saw some more serious cases come in, and the VEG Team acted calmly and with such kindness and compassion. Thank you for all that you do. We hope that we don't need to visit again anytime soon, but if we have another emergent concern, VEG will be our first stop.
