I can not say enough great things about Dr Rettig and her amazing team. The care they take to make the experience peaceful and the time taken to really get to know your animal and provide care tailored to the animals specific needs truely makes a huge difference. They have helped us to bring our nervous rescue dog Winnie through her health issues and now she confident and thriving.

We are writing to provide feedback regarding my recent experience at your facility. I would first like to commend Dr. Williams, who was both compassionate and professional. we fully intended to continue my dog's treatments, including stem cell therapy and acupuncture, under her care. ( Although VERY expensive ) However, after my experience yesterday, I will not be returning to your practice. We brought in my Dutch Shepherd, Guy, for a teeth cleaning. Guy is well known in our community as our mascot .He's completed Canine Good Citizen and advanced obedience training, and he frequently serves as a neutral dog for temperament testing at shelters. During our initial visit, the veterinarian confirmed he was an excellent candidate for this procedure due to his easygoing temperament. Yesterday, the hygienist approached Guy without first speaking to his handler. This lack of communication was unprofessional and caused Guy to bark. I was surprised that a professional would not consult an owner before interacting with a large breed dog. While the hygienist ultimately decided Guy was not a candidate for the cleaning which I agreed with given his approach. I was deeply disturbed by what happened next. After stepping out briefly to speak with my husband, I re-entered the building and overheard staff discussing other clients and claiming that Guy was aggressive and that his hackles were raised. Neither of these claims is true; Guy has no history of aggression. So why even say it? Furthermore, when his handler sent a constructive email regarding this matter, the reply received from your staff was dishonest. Saying Guy barked and jumped up, Gus isn't physically able to jump up due to health issues ask his vet !! The lack of basic communication skills and the habit of discussing other clients in public areas is unacceptable. I am disappointed that a facility would so quickly label a dog as aggressive to avoid owning a mistake in lack of education. Guy was from a local shelter and has years and years of schooling to model the right behavior in social areas. Our mission to to advocate for the breed because so often they are mislabeled by those who lack knowledge. To write that Guy jumped up is a farce as he physically isn't able to. The whole reason or the first 600.00 visit to the facility.

Great place took care of my pit that was having neck issues. She has had spine injuries before and had to have suregery. They were able to get a neurologist to see my baby the next day and get her checked out. Instead of up selling surgery or other things I didn't need. They assured me with rest and pain management she would be ok and now she's back to her ok pittie self

AMAZING! Compassionate Reasonable prices Clean and safe environment I no longer live in NorCal but I came here a couple times my last week in the Bay because my Pomeranian was having shoulder issues. The doctor was so sweet and caring, I loved that they have all of us sit on the floor together, it really brings my shy dog at ease. They were able to give my girl laser therapy for her shoulder which really helped. Also prescribed natural medications to help with her muscles and to relieve pain -bonus, I was able to get all of the meds through their admirable donation bin. I can only hope I can find a vet half as good and honest as this place -which actually they gave me a website that gives me other holistic vets in my area! So thoughtful. My girl is continuing laser therapy but she seems to only need it once a month at most for now and hopefully she won't need it at all soon. I have her on a new diet (Primal), cbd's, DGP, Fish Oil and Hypericum Perforatum. We also do regular exercise! I now have one happy and healthy Pom!!

What used to feel like a place focused on helping animals now feels rushed, impersonal, and centered around pushing medication rather than providing thoughtful, compassionate solutions. Throughout my experience, there seemed to be very little effort to discuss alternative options or genuinely address the root of my dog's issues. Instead, the only solutions presented involved continuously prescribing more medication without much explanation or care for long-term wellbeing. What was even more frustrating was being charged a "service fee" that staff could not clearly explain when asked. If clients are expected to pay additional fees, there should at minimum be transparency and professionalism regarding what those charges are actually for. I understand veterinary medicine is difficult and clinics are busy, but compassion, communication, and honesty should still be basic standards of care. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling unheard, overcharged, and far less confident in the clinic than I once was. Stay away from this place.

It was a very difficult and vulnerable time for us, and every single worker was patient and compassionate. Prior to his euthanasia appointment, the doctors and vet assistants worked closely with us for weeks and ensured every test and every option was considered to determine a strong diagnosis. During this process, not ONCE did they push euthanasia.. they left it up to us to decide that which is something we appreciated very much. They reassured us that they were able to be reached via email, text and/or call to update them on Kitty's treatment at any time. They were responsive and on top of every little thing. Of course, Kitty was a 16 year old bombay and could not function like a normal cat any longer even with the extensive treatment that was prescribed to us. His health deteriorated rapidly due to his illness (hyperthyroidism) that not even the medicine could treat. We then had to make one of the hardest decisions of our lives to put him down so he can finally live a life of peace. Thank you to the health care team (Dr. Narg, Sheila, Leah, Marissa, and many more) for treating Kitty, my partner and I with so much tender care and I will never forget how comfortable you all made us feeling during this very hard transition. If you are ever considering euthanasia, or even just in need of general care for your furry friend(s), do not hesitate and come here. Again, thank you Sun Valley Pet Hospital for peacefully opening the sky gates for my baby boy.

Then the vet assistant Ingrid took us into an exam room. She too was super kind, professional and genuinely cared for our situation. She carefully took Cookie into the back for the doctor to examine her. Jill Oliveira, DVM came in after the exam to share Cookie's diagnosis and care plan. The Vet was outstanding. After it works then they reverse it with a shot. Then they rehydrated her via IV. Followed by charcoal mixed with baby food to absorb anything left. We brought in our Pomeranian because he was experiencing significant pain. I was expecting the visit to go like other visits I had before at other vet emergency hospitals, where they whisk your pet away and you spend all of your time waiting and wondering what is happening. Instead, we were escorted to a nice padded bench (that he promptly shed all over, sorry if you are still finding fur there) and most of the examinations and work was done there. The staff was so kind and friendly, coming over to check on us and give him pats and so much love. There was another emergency surgery happening when we arrived, so they were giving us constant updates to make sure we knew what was going on. When I spoke to the vet, she was kind and gave specific recommendations (rather than a past emergency vet experience where they just gave us options and expected us to know what to do). Unfortunately, it became clear that our Pomeranian was not doing well, as he started displaying severe neurological symptoms and declined rapidly despite the treatment for his pain and a UTI. The vet ultimately suspected a brain tumor based on his behavior, and was very upfront and clear with us about his chances. Although it was devastating, we really appreciated how honest they were. We made the difficult decision to put him down (he had declined so quickly he probably would not have lasted the night), and everyone was so kind during the process. They gave us time to be with him and were so kind and sympathetic during the process. Although I am still heartbroken at losing our dog, the fact that we were able to spend so much of his last day actually being with him was something we really treasured, especially since the loss was so unexpected.

It was Saturday, and all of Sunday's appointments were already taken, so we started a live chat with one of Modern Animal's vets. The vet was incredibly helpful. They asked us to upload a video of Espy walking, talked us through what they were seeing, gave us guidance on what to do next, and - just as importantly - gave us some peace of mind while we monitored him at home.
