I called this morning and the lady who picked up the phone was name Julia or Julie and I had to explain that my cat had passed away early in the morning and inquired about their cremation services. She then began to ask me if I had put my cat in a freezer cause if not they wouldn't take my cat if she was decomposed. She spoke about Rigor Mortis happening to my cat as well. That is not the response that any pet owner that just lost their animal and is grieving with it and wants to hear. She was very insensitive and when I started to get very angry and explain to her why it was so rude about what she was saying she hung up the phone. She needs to be seriously fired. From the start, Dr. Kahlon examined our cat, Fiona, far more than any other prior vet. We agreed to further diagnostic testing, and, when the results came back (and who cares if he sends out the reading of x-rays to, duh, a radiologist), Dr. Kahlon carefully and patiently explained the findings. I brought my englishbull dog becasue leg was swollen amd wanted to get her checked out. The vet came in and without looking at her said that she needed xrays $495. So indecided to go with it. I did not know that they contract out.for results which were suppose to be in the next day. They sent her home with just pain meds with no full evaluation. I took my dog home decided to look and their was a simple bite mark. Swelling from bite mark. If he would have evaluated he would have seen this. We'll it's been 10days a no results from xrays. I did appreciate that when I called to make an appointment with ABC vet that they were able to accommodate for an appointment the same day. My cat Pepper was seen in a timely manner and a proper exam was done. I did appreciate being able to see the exam in person and be able to give feedback in real time. However, customer service has little to be desired. It was not clear if we were allowed to go into the vet clinic or needed to wait in the car due to COVID. Then when I asked if they would call me when they are ready for her, instead I get a hasty hand gesture motion from the vet tech to bring Pepper in. I also felt immediate judgment from the vet tech who was shaking her head at the condition of my kitty. The vet Dr. K, although provided good care, could also not help but pass judgment on Pepper's condition. Not only did they not initially understand that I took over her care from her previous owner but Pepper's condition was not a total result of neglect or lack of care. She ended up having FIP which is a horrible infection that has no cure and explains her weight loss, lethargy, change in behavior and eye infection. Although we received prompt care in a timely manner, the staff interaction left little to be desired and for that reason I was not a repeat client. read more

We trust this vet immensely, our cat is going on 11 years, she is like all others feel about there pets, our fur child. We've taken her to other vets in concord, and Martinez.. and every time it felt just like it does for humans at the doctor office. What I didn't like about the bigger vet places was you'd drop your pet off, barely see them, and pick them back up hoping they were well taken care of. Here, is more like a mom and pop place. You meet the vet, you express your concerns, you can stay with your animal the whole time and you are not worried for them. Everything is very personal, and we always have answers for her right away. I understand that you can't please everyone, but this vet is very knowledgeable, and he really does do what's best for the animals in his care. We get regular check ups, nail clippings, and even had to put her under once, and it's worth every cent making sure she is well taken care of with someone we trust. read more

The medications prescribed usually don't work; there are times when the condition of the pet gets worse; a lot of money wasted because you can't return unused/unopened bottles of medications. Results of tests are slow and not explained. Pet is not examined thoroughly that's why the condition of the pet gets worse. Charges are not itemized and too much. Found a dog running in the street with a leash attached. Called ABC because they were just down the road. I asked them if they did chip scans for lost dogs. I was told they could do scans but they were by appointment only and could schedule me in two days. Apparently I'm not the only one who's had this experience reading other reviews. For those who haven't had a dog scanned before, it takes all of 30 seconds to turn the scanner on and point it at the dog to pull up the information. Sounds like they were only interested in helping me if they could rope me into a scheduled appointment (I assume they'd charge me for the appointment if I had agreed) I wouldn't trust them for a minute with any of my animals judging how they're not willing to do such a simple thing any vet with a heart would do. After that ridiculous disinterest in helping myself and a worried owner get their dog back, I called up a second vet, they were amazing and happy to help, their name is "All Bay animal hospital" I was able to go in and have the chip scanned right from the front desk. In and out in minutes. They even gave me some treats for the dog to nibble on while we waited for the owner to get ahold of me. If you're looking for a caring vet, go to All Bay, don't waste your time with ABC especially if it's an appointment to get your animals chipped, they won't be the ones who help reunite you and your pet. For those unlike ABC and care to know how the dog is doing, All Bay Animal Hospital was able to get me in contact with the owner and the dog is safely back at home. Do better ABC. read more

Brought my pup here for all vaccines simply because that's where her breeder originally brought the litter. She had some diarrhea with blood- test came back negative but diarrhea wouldn't stop. Spent a ridiculous amount of money for canned food, meds., doctor visits. And bottom line I just needed to reset with some good old fashion rice in the food. Beware: He doesn't disclose costs up front, charges more than neighboring vets and the service is just "ok". Nothing special or outstanding vet/patient relationship. read more

I needed to get my kitten neutered and the vet I used to go to wanted to charge me $400. I read that males getting neutered shouldn't cost anymore then $200. So I called ABC and spoke directly to Dr K and he said $150. My kitten did need shots as well as I wanted him chipped so my bill came to $355 and I was fine with that. I felt Dr K and his assistant were kind and took care of my baby right away. I dropped him off at 9am and picked him up at noon. I know if I took my kitten to the former vet, getting him fixed, his shots and chipped would have cost me close to a grand...not to mention he probably would have been stuck in a cage all day. Their was no human concern for my dog and he sensed this. I have had dogs my whole life and I know if someone cares about my pet and this vet did not care. Found this Business on yelp after googling Vets in East Bay. Previous vet in SF & LA where I had excellent care there just too far but I wanted to expect the same care for my loved ones. Decided on ABC after reading all of the reviews. All of them. Visited this past Monday after my dogs tooth fell out Sunday night, sent emails out to many vets and received an email back from here and they fit me in the next morning. Very grateful for that. Very quaint little home like office. The assistant and Veterinarian were very pleasant in nature. My dog (16 yr old chihuahua) is finicky & does not like to be touched too much but felt calm around both. I assisted in holding my dog while the checked his teeth situation and shockingly my dog opened his mouth with little resistance. The vet removed 2 teeth and I picked him up 4.5 hrs later. I feel like they took good care of him, thoroughly explained his situation and the procedure. Went over pricing, which by the way was very reasonable !! No dental procedure for humans or pets is cheap so don't expect to pay a couple hundred anywhere. Obviously it will cost you a bit but comparatively speaking to vets in San Francisco and Los Angeles this vet is competitively reasonable and a wonderful Veterinarian to boot. ABC Veterinary Hospital was recommended to me by a friend who has taken all of his dogs here for years. My dog was in need of extensive dental care. I was quoted $2500 plus tooth extractions by another Vet. Not only did Dr. K take excellent care of my dog and his teeth but he also was able to save the teeth the other Vet recommended pulling and he also did it at half the cost. I have had numerous pets in my life, this is the first Dr my pet doesn't mind going back to see. He is polite and kind to my dog as well as myself. I recommend him and will be bringing my dog to see him from now on. read more

Scammers. Their #1 priority is to get as much money from you as they possibly can! I have a feline who has trouble leaving feces in the litter box. I explained over the phone, and again in person. I paid for my visit in cash. They squished her stomach around to force urine out for testing and if I hadn't stopped them to ask them what that has to do with the issue both vets acted shocked that it wasnt the urine. It was the same get that I spoke to on the phone prior to making the appointment. He then immediately suggests and pressures me to purchase a bag of $75 cat food to fix a problem along with a test tube for me to bring them. The vet himself diagnosed "bad behavior". I left that day having paid almost $300 and the lab results never came back to me. They will sell you anything they can for a profit. read more

There are things I liked and things I didn't. I was happy that I could get an appointment same day. And the doctor was very nice. Now begins the things I didn't like. I came in because my dog wasn't eating. He did a physical and some bloodwork and then gave me some prescription food and medicine. I walked out paying $650 somehow. He gave me a prescription med that costed $350. The medicine was for stomach problems. A week later...after forcing this medication down his throat for days...and no progress...I take him to an urgent care vet hospital who said there's a cyst under his chin. They found it, sedated him, fixed the issue....and charged me the same exact amount that this guy did for a half hour and some BS medication. Honestly, not happy. Total rip off. Oh and also the other vet threw in X Rays and an ultrasound to be extra thorough, and didn't even charge me for them. Less than 6 hours after the surgery he was eating food and meds again. 24 hours later he was almost back to normal. After this vet....I had to spend another $650. read more

Called in this morning to see if they had time to see my cat, Ozymandias. They got him right in. He had come home the other day with a couple of what appeared to be small scrapes. They had swollen and one had opened up. Apparently he had been in a fight. Both the nurse, and the doctor were very caring, and really seemed concerned with both my pets comfort and my own. During the doctors exam, he threat he found A third store that also need to be drained. After spending a great deal of time with my cat, draining three wounds and dressing and cleaning them, giving them a shot of anabiotic's, and sending me home with two weeks worth of anabiotic's in teaching me how to properly give him a pill The entire bill was only $295. I was a bit surprised at the cost, as it was about half of what most vets would charge for this much time intensive care. I was pleased with the treatment my cat received, with the care and affection they showed him. From now on I will only take my cat to the ABC veterinary hospital. I actually felt the doctor thoroughly examined my two chihuahua's and was very gentle and caring with them. I felt like he really listened to what I had to say the two times I went there. I do agree that it is NOT cheap. It was actaully very expensive. They do not have proper book keeping, or POS systems. He just writes down the costs on a scrap peice of paper and adds them up with a calculator. Very odd, because I didn't know exactly what I was paying for! I can't believe how many negative reviews this place has gotten considering that my experience was great. My poor 15 year old chihuahua had to go into emergency surgery yesterday and had to get 3 tooth extractions and she did great. This doctor knows what hes talking about, he's actually very smart and has been doing this for a long time and was SO gentle with my dog! I feel that this place can be judged negatively by the looks because it is small and not a fancy hospital, but so what? Dr. Kahlon is an absolutely wonderful doctor and both of my dogs love him to death! He is thorough, knowledgeable and kind. Both my handsome, Black Labrador and my adorable, French Bull Terrier responded to his soft voice and pocketfuls of treats!!! His assistant is also very friendly and my two boys(dogs) responded to her kindness immediately. His prices are very fair and he is always able to accommodate us for appointment times that work. We have recently joined this office after leaving an office where the charges were almost 40% more than what Dr. Kahlon charges...and the care, compassion and quality of service towards my animals is far greater here!!!! So, my mother was having trouble with the vet she had been going to, and felt as if the vet office wasn't taking the best possible care of her guide dog. Instead of going to an establishment that has a better reputation upon the service dog community, she decided to go here because her friend works here. That was a mistake. It cost her $300 dollars (!!!), and today she just found out that she didn't need to buy the super expensive vet medication, and that glucosamine would have been an alright substitute for her aging dog's arthritis issues (In fact, we'd been giving that to him already). She also told me about how the vet hadn't mentioned any of the costs associated with his treatment, which I find incredibly unprofessional and slightly appalling, all things considered. Usually what would have been reasonable ended up being $300, as I said already. Hmm, seems fishy. NEVER TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE!!! Had to make a decision to euthanize our young dog yesterday. Very difficult he was a member of our family but was having severe aggression. Brought him in , once in the room I laid with him after the sedative. After some time the vet came in and said I have to leave him? I wanted to stay with him Until the end. Have had other pets go to the rainbow bridge peacefully and with us by their side. He said his insurance doesn't allow it.. I'm devastated and he told he would euthanize and then I could come back and say bye. Paid him a $450 now I'm out in the waiting room and he's back and forth. Comes and ask do I want to say bye again YES BRINGS ME BACK IN AND MY DOG IS IN FULL BODY CONVULSIONS!! HIS ASSISTANT COMES IN AND IS TRYING TO HOLD HIS BODY DOWN I'm frantic yelling put him to sleep what are you waiting for.. Why hasn't it happened already??Not actually sure when he put him out of misery I ran out of his building.. I have visited this vet several times, as well as many other vets in the area. Though his office is not fancy and he does not have a large office staff, I found this refreshing. All my interactions have always been directly with the vet. With our 18 year old cat, he was very caring. He treated him for many years providing a variety of interventions until he tearfully consented to euthanize our cat who no longer was eating and could not move.
