We unexpectedly found ourselves at VEG ER for Pets from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. with our kitty, and I truly can't say enough good things about the care we received. She's already on the road to recovery thanks to their incredible team. The staff was compassionate, attentive, and amazing during a very stressful night. Highly recommend keeping them in mind if you ever find yourself needing an emergency vet.

My little girl made it to 18 years old, thank you VEG for being so kind, gentle and professional. RIP Rio.

We brought our 18-year-old dog in around 4 AM after she had been lethargic and regurgitating for hours. She was barely responsive, and we were honestly terrified. From the moment we arrived, the staff was ready for us--someone was at the door waiting, which immediately put us at ease. The facility is clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed. The open-concept emergency area lets you stay with your pet the entire time, which meant everything to us. Sadly, we had to make the incredibly difficult decision to put our sweet girl down after 18 years. But I can't say enough about how the staff handled everything. Every single person was kind, compassionate, and professional. We were there from 4 AM until about 2 PM, and not once did we feel rushed. They gave us the time, space, and support we needed to be with her through her final moments, and treated her with so much love and dignity. They also showed the same care to my mom and me during one of the hardest days of our lives. Easy 5 stars. I hope I never need emergency services again, but if I do, I would come back here without hesitation. TY to all the staff.

Quick service, great prices, answered phone call prior to visit, and came up with an action plan. Appreciate it VEG!

It might make me emotional even writing this review, but VEG saved our kitty's life. Two weeks ago he escaped the house and fell out of a tree; we came rushing up to VEG with a barely breathing, bleeding, banged up little guy. I had called ahead and multiple staff came rushing out to get him, and went to work immediately. Based on what we were being told, we thought he wouldn't make it. Pneumothorax, fever, broken leg, sky high lactate levels, the whole nine yards. We had the kids say goodbye and everything. But between amazing care at VEG, a femur surgery at another clinic we were referred to, and a stubborn will to live, he's still with us. I don't think I was in my right mind that night, but thinking back I appreciated everything from the open floor plan where we had access to him at all times, staff constantly checking on us and giving us updates (both treatment and financial status), a comfortable waiting room, giving our boys quarters for the stuffy machine, and just the general understanding of the staff. I think it's a given emergency care is pricey, so we had that in mind at all times, and they were able to accommodate the options we chose. Special thanks to Dr Sana and truly everyone else we interacted with that night.

Veterinary Emergency Group in San Ramon saved our senior cat's life. We rushed in during the middle of the night with Kiba suffering from a life-threatening urinary blockage. It was one of the most frightening experiences our family has ever faced. The team responded immediately with urgency and professionalism, but what truly stood out was their compassion. The receptionist staff was incredible. They handled all payment and administrative details with patience and clarity while we were exhausted and emotionally overwhelmed. They made a chaotic moment feel organized and manageable. Dr. Caitlyn Wilson took care of Kiba through the night and was exceptional. She explained everything thoroughly, answered every question, and treated both our cat and our family with genuine empathy. This was our first emergency of this magnitude, and she guided us with steady confidence. Nurse Gina provided overnight care and was outstanding. She is warm, deeply caring, and a wealth of knowledge. Knowing she was caring for our cat gave us peace during an incredibly stressful night. When Dr. Casa took over the next phase of care, she continued that same level of excellence. She was attentive, professional, and compassionate. The continuity of care was seamless, and we always felt our cat was in capable hands. They also worked with our budget and helped us navigate options without pressure. Five stars is not enough. This team gave us our cat back.

My frenchie aiko who broke out with hives from something outside. They gave her antihistamine shot and steroid shot.

Took my little frenchie girl Aiko this morning at 5:30 am because she was breaking out with hives. I'm from Hayward so it was a drive out. I just picked the first one on yelp that was open with good reviews. When I walked in I was like wow this is the nicest looking vet ER I've ever seen! The girl checking me in was super nice and let us sit on the couch comfortably while she took our information. The doctor and all the vet techs were all very sweet and came up to give pets to Aiko. There was no line when I got there which was amazing. I loved the open concept but could imagine how it might be hectic with multiple dogs there at the same time. Thanks for taking care of aiko today!

Our little dude, Virgil. Thank you for saving his life, VEG!!

These people saved my cat's life and the gratitude I have for them is hard to put into words. My cat, Virgil, who's a year and a half old, suddenly started showing signs of straining in the litter box one Friday afternoon. We have two set up for our cats, and he'd go from one to the other, visibly straining but not producing anything. But he was silent, and I only happened to notice it because I saw how he kept going back and forth between the front room to the boxes and back. I immediately called our vet, who told me to take him to an ER right away because it was possible he was experiencing a urinary blockage, which is deadly in male cats. They recommended VEG. We took him in and they wasted no time taking us into a back room to start examining him and getting all the background info they needed. They call this an open concept hospital, meaning that while they have private exam rooms, all of the procedures happen out in the open in the middle of their airy, large space. I had mixed feelings about it, plus I'm not sure how the animals feel about it when they're already distressed, but I also won't act like I know more than the experts. They also have rooms to accommodate pet owners who would like to stay overnight with their animals so they can get some sleep. This facility is open 24/7. Virgil did have a urinary blockage and needed to stay for two nights to have his bladder drained, be put on antibiotics, and observed to make sure he could pass urine on his own. Luckily he was resilient and made it out ok, but it was a very scary weekend that could've ended differently if I didn't notice and act as fast as I did. The doctors were extremely communicative, calling and texting throughout the days and nights to update us. One minor critique of this is that their text service is one-way only, meaning you can't reply via text, you can only receive them. I do think that should be updated. Virgil received the best possible care and he's still here because of them. Now, I'm not going to pretend this wasn't one of the biggest expenses we've ever had -- it was over $7000 in the end, much of that due to the cost of the overnight stays. It is insane how much pet care costs, and the amount due was eye watering. I can't recommend enough that every pet owner get pet insurance because you never know when something like this is going to happen. Most of the cost was covered by our insurance, but we still had to pay $3000 out of pocket. I'm not sure what the cost would've been at another hospital, but I can at least say the doctor was extremely thorough in explaining what every line item on the bill was and why they needed to do every test and procedure they did. Virgil is home and made a great recovery, and we're extremely thankful for everything VEG did to help him and to educate us on how to try to prevent this from happening again if at all possible. Thank you, VEG.

it's already so hard saying goodbye to our beloved pets. thankfully, the staff at VEG made that process as smooth as it could be, given the circumstances. if you need empathy, patience and knowledgable staff from the first call to exiting the facility, this is your place. the receptionist was super kind, offering cookies and warm/cold temp water when i was falling apart and stressed out. while also being efficient in getting my info/the details of my chinchilla's condition over to the doctors. the doctors were very honest and caring of my chinchilla. it's hard enough finding an exotic animal vet near where i am but thankfully they have colleagues with more experience with chinchillas/rodents. they were very sweet to my baby chester. they also have a space with separate rooms with cozy lighting, tissues and a comfy couch, for people to say goodbye to their pets. as i was saying bye to him, they provided different options for cremation and offered to take fur clippings for me. they were very respectful when taking him away because they wrapped him in the blanket that i had brought him in. i requested his whiskers, his tail bristles, and fur from his leg area. they went the extra mile as they captured his white chest fur, plenty of his long whiskers and the softest part of his fur which belonged to the top of his head (that i had kissed prior to letting him go) ultimately, they brought clarity in a situation that i hadn't prepared for and instead of me scrambling in confusion, they were able to guide me through. shoutout to the staff at VEG!

Our vet is closed on weekends, and the emergency vet near us was slammed - so we found ourselves here after my dog, Rocky, woke up this morning shaking and refusing to jump or run (very unusual for him). We were seen at VEG within 10 minutes and seen by a vet, then given a treatment plan with an estimated cost. The X-rays took forever, but it's an emergency vet so that's somewhat expected. Amazing service, compassionate care, well worth the extra drive. They even have a play area for kids and a Keurig with free pods!

I am writing this so others may not end up like we almost did. Our dog was seen and after $1200 + was told he most likely has cancer and has a month or so left to live. He could walk and was in a lot of pain not eating and couldn't go to bathroom. We decided to put him down for what VEG vet said. We made an appointment for a vet to come to our house that week. WE could stop crying for days. After a day or two we decided to get another opinion at UC Davis. Thank God we did!!!!!!!!!!! Bladder stones and slip disc in spine. A year later still going strong ! PLEASE get a Second option , We only go to Davis now ! Worth the drive to know what's really going on.

Excellent... Best experience I've ever had for emergency care for our Dude.. We've had several pets over the decades and been to emergency room visits in that same amount of time. This is the first time I have experienced personal, and compassionate care for both the pet guardian and its loving pet Absolutely terrific. I cannot say enough about the doctors, nurses, and the staff. Absolutely superb. I highly recommend! You can truly trust this kind and wonderful staff!!!

Words can not describe the gratitude that I have for the care and compassion they showed not only my handsome guy Leo but myself and my family! Leo was seen quickly and his comfort was their top priority with the severity of his emergency. Communication was excellent (even when I couldn't think straight ) The doctors and the team are my heroes and I recommend them 100%

Dr. Beth Lieblick assessed everything quickly and chose the least invasive option first. After anesthesia, she was able to push the blockage down into his stomach so he could digest it naturally instead of going straight to a major surgery. Our dog stayed overnight for monitoring and came home the next morning safe and stable. Communication was clear the entire time, and the team was professional, calm, and genuinely kind during a very stressful situation. * In terms of cost, this is emergency care, so it is expensive. The initial diagnostic alone was around 1300 dollars. With bloodwork, X rays, anesthesia, the procedure, overnight monitoring, and medications, the estimate initially went up to 14000 dollars. The final total ended up being about 6600 dollars after adjustments. Even knowing emergency care costs more, it is still a financial shock when you are facing a possible life threatening situation for a family member. * We are giving 4 stars. The doctor and team absolutely deserve recognition for their professionalism and friendliness. The only reason we are taking off one star is the price. While we understand emergency care is costly, the numbers can feel overwhelming. Our advice is to get pet insurance if possible. If a bill in the thousands or potentially over ten thousand would be difficult, it is worth researching emergency options ahead of time. For us, what mattered most is that our family member came home safe.

Brought my cat into Sage Friday night as he was not feeling well. After running tests was told he…read moreshould stay overnight for observation/treatment and would need an ultrasound as the xray did not show anything conclusive. That night as I am checking out one of the staff members tells me they would have to call a specialist the next morning to do the ultrasound so after the procedure is done they would call me with an update. Agreeing with their recommendation I agreed to pay $6500 for the visit and the next day procedure. The assistant said with additional medication the cost could go to $8200 or higher depending on the finding. I should have asked for a list of procedures that were done and a breakdown of costs, but at that moment I was more concerned with the wellbeing of my family member. I called the next morning around 8am to check how my cat is doing. The person said the veterinarian is doing their rounds now so someone would call me back an hour or two later. I receive a phone call around noon and was told I would have to pay an additional $4500 for the ultrasound and with additional tests they recommended would in total be around $15,000. When questioned what was included in the $6500, I received a response of, "oh that was included." When asked why the ultrasound was not done yet, they said a specialist would need to be called as it was the weekend. When I told them that last night someone said that it would be done the next day, they said, "not sure why someone would say that?" I tell them that I want to pick up my cat to bring to another location. Upon arrival an assistant brings me my cat and promptly asks my to sign a waiver. When I asked who I spoke with over the phone that quoted me $4500 for the ultrasound, the assistant said the veterinarian. When I tell them to refund me the cost it suddenly became $1100. I told them if it was $1100 I wanted to go through with the ultrasound , BUT since I told them I wanted to go to another clinic, putting the iv in and what not back on him would cost more. At this point I feel like I am getting taken advantage of so I wound up leaving. Before I left I asked for a receipt showing what procedures were done to only get a email with a charge of $6500 minus the cost of ultrasound $1100. Bottom line this place seems more interested in taking your money than the health of your pet. I would highly recommend avoiding this clinic.

I don't know what the other reviews meant when they mentioned anything bad at Animal Center of Pleasanton; it's ridiculous. Nothing but the VERY best for my little Lucky Charm; and Animal Medical Center, all staff and Dr C ARE THE VERY BEST. I say: BRAVO~~~~ and Thank You Dr and Staff~ u ROCK!!!!

Before you go, the irresponsibility of the vet here is well noted on Nextdoor. It was named "…read moreAnimal hospital of Pleasanton" and I wonder the name change may be due to the string of negative issues documented in the news. The news below doesn't surprise us as the vet simply suggests us to let our dog to have blood test for her "itchiness". There was no examination at all as the vet was scared of our dog. He simply pulled our dog's leash forcibly as if he doesn't know how to deal with a dog. As the blood result shows nothing, he suggests us to run fecal test to identify the issue. - just for her itchiness.

This review is for the Internal Medicine Department, which is separate from the emergency room…read more(this department is in the building in the back of the parking lot). I previously thought this was only an ER and did not know this existed. If your pet has a special condition, like Cushing's or Addison's, I highly recommend that you see Dr.Wang, in addition to your regular vet. My dog was diagnosed with Cushing's and nearly died from being overdosed on medication from our previous vet, who was not a specialist. Although our vet spoke as if he was knowledgeable and performed regular testing, we discovered he did not know how to treat this condition. Because of the overdose, my dog now has Addison's, but Dr. Wang brought my dog back from the brink of death, and her condition is now managed with a simple monthly shot from this office. When we first brought her in, we had no idea why she had gotten so ill. Dr. Wang reviewed her medical history in detail and was correct in her diagnosis, but ran some tests to confirm. The cost for a consultation was very reasonable. Along the way additional costs were reasonable and much less than expected. Dr. Wang was cost-conscious, which we appreciated because we had already spent so much when our dog became unexpectedly ill. Only necessary tests were performed, and we were able to purchase medications online to save costs and have shots administered by a vet tech to save exam fees. In addition, appointments are convenient, wait times have always been minimal and parking is easy and plentiful. Dr. Wang is extremely knowledgeable, communicative and personable. She is also very responsive via email. I have nothing but great things to say about her and this office and am so thankful she saved our dog's life. If your dog has a special medical condition I highly recommend that you see a specialist here, in addition to your regular vet. If we had known about this specialist when our dog was first diagnosed, it would have saved our dog months of being ill as well as saving us thousands of dollars.

Had a great experience at this 24 hour clinic. Such a disappointment that corporate VCA has added…read morethis clinic to the long list of vet offices that they've taken over and then shut down, leaving communities without proper emergency vet care. All staff were kind, patient, & considerate. Spencer & Dr Gabrielle were very understanding of our situation and gave us all information necessary to make informed decisions. They were great at prioritizing care based on level of emergency and they exceeded our expectations every step of the way. Our very unfriendly kitty received wonderful care and this facility will be missed when it is shut down by greedy VCA (owned by MARS Inc- yes the candy!) at the end of the month. More money in the MARS corporation's pockets and less care for pets in need. Such a pity.

I called ahead of time to check for availability as my cat was suffering from throat inflammation…read more Smokey retched and gagged as if something was stuck in his throat. The receptionist, Bashelly, was kind, patient and courteous as she listened to my needs. When I arrived, the nurse was very concerned and attentive. The vet, Elizabeth Matte, came in and was laser position focus and she was very concerned. I had gone to VCA hospital in Antioch and felt disregarded and disrespected. Thankfully, SAGE took care of my cat immediately with sedation and oxygen. I was constantly kept informed unlike the lack of attention at VCA hospital. . It cost a smidge more but worth it for the professionalism, respect, compassion and attention that I received and my cat. I was also informed that my cat had a heart murmur and gallop unlike my care at VCA hospital. Now, my cat is on the mend and I'm thankful for their care. They really care at SAGE and you can feel it unlike VCA hospital in Antioch.

I've had horrible experiences here with two different dogs at two different life stages. The…read morethrough line is that they dont check your animals' medical records, their care is completely substandard, and they have zero compassion for you or your pets. I took my senior dog here to get treated for vestibular disease. He seemed to be on the mend when he became lethargic two days later. I rushed there just for a different vet to tell me I needed to euthanize him because he was "no longer himself anymore." It was clear she didn't read his chart bc he was a healthy dog before those last couple hours. In shock, I pressed for more info and she shared he had a 102 degree fever. I pleaded with her to give him fluids and treat his fever. he completely recovered until passing of old age two years later. I recently took my 4 month old rescue puppy here after he started throwing up all food and fluids. Suspecting kennel cough, they grabbed him from my car and took him to their isolation rooms. After much waiting and worry, the vet comes out and sternly tells me the puppy bit their tech and he's being reported to the county and they're worried he has rabies. I'm completely shocked and flabbergasted they didn't bother to read the vaccination records I shared or care that he's a traumatized former stray dog I've had for a week. I would have thought precautions would have been taken to either be gentle with a traumatized puppy or use a muzzle. Knowing I took him there for dehydration, they keep him alone in a kennel for nearly four hours, giving zero water because they "didn't want him to throw up." I called several times for updates and eventually had to park myself at the front desk, or it probably would have been an even longer wait. Finally I get one dropper of meds for kennel cough, get him home, and he immediately throws it up. That was the reason I took him there in the first place except now he's even more dehydrated. I desperately call and they say the doctor will call back asap. Did they call? Of course not. A second dog of mine would have died needlessly if id trusted their care. Thankfully a kind vet close to home agreed to see him after hours, gave him IV fluids, and prescribed meds for coughing and nausea. PS Sage recommended $1,100 worth of needless tests and x-rays that refused because I didn't want him there alone for four more hours with no food or water. But didn't feel the need to prescribe any meds that would help him eat or drink. If you love your dogs stay far far away from this place unless you have no other choice. I've never been so disappointed in an organization in my life.
