I really hate posting negative reviews but I gave them feedback and two chances over a month to follow up and make this better but that didn't happen. Two major negatives and two positives: - Lack of Professionalism: Their Dental Hygienist was unprofessional in her delivery of bad news regarding my teeth and gums to the degree that she seemed happy when I was tearing up. I won't go into the details on this but please know that had I not just exposed myself to radiation that I didn't want to repeat immediately to get help with my teeth, I would have immediately left their offices. - Lack of Professional Response: When I told the dentist that their hygienist treated me so rudely that I had tested up, her response was to tell me "she and her hygienist were completely aligned in diagnosing and delivering bad news" which she later said "oh, we'll, sorry but you don't have to see her when you return." Neither responses assured me that this practice values the patient experience. Unreliable and shady business practices. I'm not sure what happened to Sage, but it is not the same place anymore. I had been a loyal patient since 2017. Everything was fine until early 2021, when Sage repeatedly canceled my cleanings and didn't have any openings for months to reschedule. Then, Sage called me in Summer 2021 claiming I owed them money from 2019. That was the last straw. It was only $60, so I gave them my credit card info for payment, and then told them I was switching dentists. I thought that was the end of it. Today (September 2021) I received a collections notice -- instead of charging my credit card, Sage referred the debt to collections, which is now affecting my credit rating. This office got sold to a larger company several years ago and has not been on a good trajectory ever since. Lots of turnover. Now it seems like they have so much turnover of dentists that they can't even assure you that your visit will be covered under insurance! On my last visit, I was advised that my visit might not be covered because the dentist was "still getting set up" with the insurance. I reviewed my records and my spouse's last visit wasn't covered by insurance because the provider was "out of network." I can't imagine how this business thinks this is okay. I simply can't keep going to a dental office when any given visit might or might be covered. Aside from that, in this last year I've experienced multiple billing errors and communication errors, including receiving bills for other customers. I've had to call insurance for them to confirm my coverage because they half-heartedly tried, said they "couldn't find it," then pretty much shrugged and said it was my problem. My insurer is a major provider. Shouldn't the office employees be capable of verifying my coverage? I've never had another dentist or healthcare provider act like they simply couldn't be bothered to confirm my insurance like this, but it has happened to me more than once at Sage. I have no complaints about the actual dental care I've received. The hygienists and dentists have been good, knowledgeable, and skilled. Unfortunately, the management/billing/insurance issues are unacceptable. read more

Do not go there. They said that I needed all sorts of services that my previous dentist did not recommend and charged me for a fluoride treatment when I had already told them I didn't want one. They also never actually gave me the treatment, just charged me for it. When I asked them to remove the charge, they refused to do so, and they were very rude. They should be investigated for charging people for unnecessary procedures and then not delivering the service. Horrendous company! I would give them a zero if I could. read more

We were patients here before it was Sage Dental and Dr. Hulse was fantastic. We continued with Sage after Dr. Hulse retired and had a good experience. Then in fall 2020, I showed up for a cleaning and there were totally different people there. My hygienist of 25 years was gone and the dentist I had seen for 3 or 4 years also gone. The cleaning was fine. Then I got a bill from a collections agency for $119 for a service performed in 2018. Anytime we owed anything, it was taken care of when we had a visit so I thought it was weird. Plus we had insurance that paid for nearly everything. I called the collections agency and they said lots of people were calling with very similar amounts owed. They thought it was strange and said not to worry about it as Sage had told them there was some kind of error. Then I received another letter from a different place. I explained to them the history and told them I thought it was fraudulent. I went back to my files to figure out what insurance I had at the time. It was Delta...I called them and told them the date and they found an EOB for that date and it had been fully paid. They mailed me the EOB. I called the collections people and sent the EOB to them. I called them 3 more times as I never heard anything from them and did not want a credit ding. They said each time they were still working on it and would call me...which never happened and I never heard from them again. Do not just pay them thinking you owe this small amount as you probably do not owe it. read more

This practice was a gem at one point. It seems more like a cash cow now. The front desk staff do the best they can, but it takes months to get an appointment, and the whole experience feels very franchise-oriented. Every visit is like a new one in the sense that there are always mistakes with names, insurance coverage, and scheduling. The low reviews come from a very real place. read more

While I love Marion, I repeatedly asked for guidance on what insurance to get to minimize out-of-pocket expenses. Over five years, I followed their guidance perfectly, and STILL paid out of pocket for pretty much everything. Today, I went in for a cleaning only to be told that my new insurance -- which is more expensive and I got at their urging -- wouldn't cover the cleaning (out of network), and would leave me with a huge bill after my wisdom teeth extraction, which they want to do later this year. Terrible dentist. Incompetent billing staff. I'm still getting hounded by collections over an insurance covered visit from 2018 that they never bothered to send to my insurance. My insurance never declined it as Sage dental says. Insurance company never got a claim from them. Now they're trying to get me to pay for an appointment in 2021 that I never made. I wasn't even living CO at the time. Every year, I call Sage Dental to get this sorted out and they assure me they'll take care of it. But then the next year, I get another bill from their collections agency. It's starting to look like fraud. The fillings the dental assistant!!! did were done wrong and I'm stuck with chronic pain that a new dentist is working to solve. Filling are chipped because they weren't put in correctly. read more

Questionable business practices. I am having two crowns done, I have no problems with quality of care. I agreed to pay abut $2200 for each crown, but was billed $3100. When i pointed that out, the person who was on the line (presumably a billing person) wanted to keep $1000. I have never had that experience with any medical practice anywhere. Also, I noticed that the Lafayette Sage practice sells the brand version of special tooth paste, rather than the generic version. Be careful about their business practices. read more

This practice tried to sell me a crown procedure I did not need and that I made very clear I was not interested in during my initial appointment. I said I would return for a cavity filling and that's all. At the appointment to fill the cavity, the hygienist (not Marion...someone else...woman with dark hair) told me that I was getting a crown. I told her I was not...that I was there for a cavity filling only. The hygienist proceeded to try to pressure me into having the crown done since she said I would need one in the next couple of years anyway (this is not what the dentist told me). I refused. Then she numbed the wrong side of my mouth for the filling despite me telling her several times that she was numbing the wrong area. Now that I am trying to switch dentists, Sage is dragging their feet sending my records to the new dentist. I have had to call 3 times and email 2 times, and still my new dentist does not have my records. Sage never has a receptionist answer the phone on the established patient line (call goes to voicemail every single time), which is terrible customer service. It makes it impossible to resolve any issues in a timely manner. This practice is too large to focus on the individual patient, lacks organization, and is unconcerned with delivering quality customer service...not to mention that they try to sell unnecessary procedures and don't listen to the patient. You have many choices for quality dentists in the area. I suggest going elsewhere and recommend Dr. Jose Lopez in Boulder. I haven't even been to the office yet, but Karen (office staff) has bent over backwards trying to retrieve my records from Sage. Now that's caring customer service! read more

I am very pleased with the dentist and dental staff at this office. It's very evident that they care about their patients. They have always been very conscientious about doing high quality dental work--including crowns. I have been to dentists in the past that did not take the time to make sure a crown fit well, but the dentists at Sage are very meticulous about the fit and will make sure they get it right. Also, I have never known of another dental office that guarantees a crown for 5 years--yet they do. 5 Stars! read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. They didn't bill my insurance correctly 3 times! And then said I owed $237 when my insurance covers these 4 visits. They are engaging in FRAUD. They did this purposely. I have reported them and I have also called my insurance company. My insurance company said they used the wrong NPI number and therefore that is why I have a large bill. After numerous calls they said these visits were covered. They are crooker liars. I've reported them for Fraud. I have a disability and they are trying to bank on that. Sleazy. read more

For the first time in my entire life, last time I got a teeth cleaning, the hygenist saw fit to do the polishing before the teeth cleaning. After I left, I was keenly aware that my teeth were not as clean as every previous visit to ANY OTHER dentist. I use a test I have used in all previous teeth cleanings: When I rub my tongue on the back of my bottom teeth, they feel almost "sticky" because they are so clean. This was not the case after the last cleaning. They felt slightly slimy, like they do before the cleaning. In any case, I got a reminder call that I have a pending appointment today. I decided I would not want them cleaned that way again. I walked in at about 12:15, and the office was empty. No "out to lunch" sign. So, I cam back around 1:10pm. The receptionist was there. When I explained that I wanted them clean the traditional way, and wanted a hygienist that would clean them properly, she exclaimed "Both of my hygienists clean the teeth the same way. She said "It ends up being the same". I told her that was not the case, I was going to explain about my test. So, then I said, can I ask for the hygenist to do it in the order I prefer, or I would cancel the appointment. She immediately (rudely in my opinion) said "I think we should cancel the appointment." So I said OK and walked out. 1) She did not try ask me what the problem was, or why I wanted it done in the traditional way. 2) She made it clear, that it was their way, or the highway. So, I would not recommend this practice. It was very convenient for me, as it was within a block of where I work. Now I have to seek teeth cleaning services elsewhere. The are utterly non negotiable as to the way they clean teeth (which is entirely backwards - as does NOT leave your teeth feeling clean.) So, go get your teeth cleaner here, and they will feel slimy, most likely IMO. read more

If you are seeing a negative review, believe it. This is not a good provider. They are in no way interested in providing for your oral wellbeing. This chain of providers is a Fraud, scam and represent a disservice to the dental profession. The only way you will not be disappointed is if you get a second opinion, you will be glad you did. If they say to brush and floss your teeth daily.. i would still get a second opinion, as this business thrives on you trusting their recommendations blindly in order to take the most out of your pocket. They should be barred from practice. The first red flag i should have noticed is they have more people at the front desk than they have actual dentists. One would think such a ratio would facilitate returning phone calls, processing insurance, establishing a productive efficient treatment plan. It is not unreasonable to expect more from this industry; Sage Dental is a step backwards, I highly recommend that when you approach their front door.. YOU step backwards, turn around and go elsewhere. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. I went in for the cheap cleaning. Buyer beware. They will get their money one way or another. They told me I needed a ton of fillings. Looking at the xrays it looked like a very microscopic chip out of one tooth. Gone are the days that your doctor and dentist office are required to be dark, dingy, and have fish tanks! I bought a groupon when I first visited Sage Dental in Boulder and I was pleasantly surprised upon walking in that it wasn't your normal old school dentist. They had every piece of upgraded equipment you could have, great bright windows, the staff was extremely friendly, and I felt at ease while getting my teeth cleaned. No one gave me a guilt trip for not flossing enough and I was even quoted on the spot for a filling replacement I need to get this month. i am actually happy to go back because it was so cleanly and friendly. read more

I called Sage Dental to get an idea of cost for a dental procedure. I am trying to compare treatment plan pricing. When I called, I explained the situation and my request. I was instructed I would have to make an appointment before they could tell me the pricing. Ridiculous. Obviously, I am concerned about the cost, so why would I want to make an appointment and pay just to get the prices. Makes no sense. Stay away from this place!! I came here because it's highly recommended by my coworker, I should've checked yelp before I made my appointment. This dental clinic feels like a teeth factory, everyone is like a robot. Here are my other complaints: Cleaning: the hygienist didn't care one bit that my teeth are sensitive to cold, she just kept on rinse my teeth with cold water which caused a lot of pain to me. Billing: they make everyone pay at the end of each treatment as if i was a fraud and wouldn't pay any bills after I left the door. Plus I have an insurance. The woman also kept on making mistakes in the amount, you really need to keep an eye on your bill. Filling: I had 3 done, but the dentist only does the drilling part, the rest(filling, smoothing, adjusting) is all done by his assistant (I sure hope she makes as much as the dentist though). But she is not as good and used a lot of tools to help which means putting stuff in my mouth for a very long period of time and splash water all over my face. read more

We received a bill today 01/5/2021 for a bill from services they state were rendered 11/20/2019. REALLY? A year later they are billing me for services. I have NOTHING on my google calendar indicating an appointment was made in Nov 2019. We never received a bill from them until this moment and I contacted them in Feb 2020 to get copies of dental records. My advice... KEEP detailed records of all your appointments and whether or not you were billed and or you paid. read more

This clinic was sold to the new owner. The new management team kicked in with the new doctor. They are nice people but I am worried about excessive exams and unnecessary treatment beyond the necessity for their business. It seems all employees and doctors are pressured to "sell" more treatment. They are still good if you are aware of this endless money-making medical system/practice and able to say "no" when they try to sell "fear" for you to pay more medical bills. They take DentaQuest Medicaid but be careful to not buy in too much stuff based on their suggestions. The new corporate owner would like to make big money from extracting from their doctor's labor and patients' pocket with unnecessary treatment. read more

I switched dentists because my other one was incredibly overpriced and wanted to charge me ~$600 for two fillings. I went here and not only was the service fantastic, the dental assistant Marion was so lovely. She was really quick, and hooked me up with some samples and my teeth were so clean. I'm going back next week to get my cavities filled, and would you look at that it's entirely affordable and reasonably priced. Really lovely place. Will definitely return. read more

I started going to Sage Dental Care a little over 6 months ago. Having relocated from the mountains, I had to find a new dentist/dental hygienist. I have seen 3 of the dentists in the group and Dana the hygienist, who was very sweet and professional. I'd highly recommend them as professionals as well as enjoyable, if we can say going to the dentist is enjoyable. Dr.'s Batline, Kammer, and Lee provided an excellent relatively pain free experience. The administrative staff are genuinely helpful and friendly. Everyone seems to enjoy their work. Additionally, I love receiving a text reminder for my appointments. From a business perspective it effective, efficient, smart and convenient for the patient. I highly recommend them! read more

This dental practice was bought recently by a big corporate outfit. Like others have written, I had a long difficult time trying to get my records transferred, they don't answer their phones or return phone messages, they were not honest with me the one time someone answered my phone call there. I have heard similar stories about the attempts at that office to up-sell their dental services, and that is also part of why I'm quitting the practice. This dental practice is a horror show of unscrupulous billing practices. My daughter had a cleaning there in February 2021. After receiving no communication from them, we received a statement for "services rendered" - in August 2021. This was the beginning of what has turned into a joke of a billing department and unethical billing practices. They never returned my calls when they said they would and the one time someone actually tried to give me information, she came up with some random amount that had "already been paid" which was not the amount that they claim we owed. Huh? So incredibly sloppy, unprofessional, and inaccurate. She said she'd call me back with more information - never happened. Come to find out, they never submitted a claim to our insurance, and then in September 2021 we received a letter from a collection agency. WTAF? But we went ahead and paid the $101.00 dollars to the credit company just to be done with this sham. Except we were not done. Six weeks later, they sent my daughter email statements for $101.00 AGAIN. After calling their "billing department" and pointing out we had paid the collection agency, they promised to "take care of it' and would send a statement showing we owed nothing. Never happened. And.... you guessed it - we just received yet another statement for $101, stating it is over 90 days overdue. Today I called Sage, briefly explained the situation, at which point the woman said "Are you still getting notices?" After answering YES, she put me on hold. I hung up after holding for 10 minutes. This dental practice is quite aware of their billing errors and I think they simply don't care. I'm contacting the Attorney General's office to see what our options are, especially after seeing that this is also happening with other patients of theirs. I came here on a Groupon because I don't have insurance and was greeted by the friendly and knowledgeable assistant Tina. Their X-ray was very fancy. Charlotte was my hygienist and she was personable and explained everything to me. They did find some cavities and I think the prices are reasonable. On top of that, Charlotte told me which ones are my priorities so I can spread out the repairs in a way that makes sense for my budget. The dentist was so kind and Marion the dental hygienist was amazing, she was so kind and welcoming, she made me feel like family. I missed an appointment because of an emergency meeting at work. Before I even got out of the meeting I got an email from them stating I would now owe them $50. I responded to the email that they can charge it but I'm not going to pay it. No response. I emailed back later and said if they really wanted me to pay that $50, I'll do it, but they'll lose me as a client. No response. I emailed them again the next day and told them that, given their silence, I can see they're not interested in retaining me as a client. No response. Over the past year and I half I have pumped THOUSANDS of dollars into these assholes' pockets. And this is how they react? Maybe read a book on customer service. Out of DOZENS of appointments, I never missed a single one. I'm more than happy to find a new dentist now. Good riddance. read more

Horrible! I booked in August (repeat customer) and they cancelled and rebooked me a whole month later because they couldn't get a technician in for my cleaning after confirming in August and they were booked until September. Kind of wasn't pleasant but I understand things happen....well they apparently don't. I got married this weekend and was on a delayed flight, called to cancel and they told me I have used this excuse the last time to reschedule....unfortunately they must have the wrong person as they rescheduled me due to not having any available techs. Then I asked to rebook because regardless of this I do enjoy my dentist and the techs. I was told my insurance isn't valid - I am employed and have Aetna and was told when I booked in August before they rescheduled me a month later,same employer and insurance as now, it is in network and valid. I pay you for your services so treating me with disrespect is the best way to lose clients. I would advise others to find elsewhere. read more

Sage Dental Care was the best dental experience I've ever had! I had a cap come off of my tooth & they squeezed me into the schedule immediately. The receptionist Angie was very friendly & helpful. Claire, the hygienist, was very friendly as well. She talked me through the whole procedure & I felt very comfortable & at ease. The Dr. Batliner was a great guy as well. Everyone at Sage Dental was great. My boyfriend Zach had his wisdom teeth removed a couple of weeks ago and all went well. They were quick, we had almost no time in the wait room, they answered all of my questions and were incredibly patient. Highly recommend! read more
