The mashed potatoes that came with the steak was seasoned differently than the mashed potatoes that came with the duck breast. Both mashed potatoes paired beautifully with the main item it came with. I loved the steak, but if you are more budget minded, the pasta is equally delicious. It's one of the best pastas I've had. It's actually one of the places where the cooking is worth the price. Came here on a Saturday night. Surprisingly, the restaurant wasn't too busy. The lady host/server greeted us & showed us to our table. We weren't super hungry so we skipped the appetizers & ordered two entrees. I had the sea bass which was buttery & tender. My partner ordered the lamb chops which came with side of chimichuri, mashed potatoes & some veggies. We order the garlic bread, the spinach pasta and the lamb chop. The ratio of the garlic and the bread was just perfect. The pasta was good and so as the lamp chop. They also added the mash potatoes to the lamp chop plate, which is a huge plus. Wonda, the waitress, knew I wanted to take photos of the food, she even helped me place the main entrees in front of me, so nice. We also got to chat with her after our meal. She was so friendly. Came in tonight. Haven't been here for a while, the menu had shrunk. I wanted the pork chops, they were out of them. I had the seared Seabass for $45 it came with mashed butternut squash, two asparagus and one cherry tomato have and 1 tablespoon of white sauce on the fish. I've been curious to try this place out so I came here with my coworkers to celebrate my birthday. The food was delicious and a very unique Asian fusion. I got the stuffed chicken and it came with a lot of mashed potatoes. The glaze sauce was orangey and kinda reminded me of orange chicken. I tried my friends farfalle pasta and it was really good too! The food kind reminds me of sesame grill pre pandemic ( before chicken tenders). Pricing is very reasonable and a good deal for what you're getting. There is only one lady working (the owner) but we got great service. She was very engaging and even joining in our conversations. She said that they're hanging on and trying to make the best of it with the pandemic but with telework and everything being remote, the lunch business is tough. I hope they are able to recover and more business will return soon. In the meantime, I will recommend this place for people who ask me what's good in the Alhambra Main Street area. read more

Their food is great. I think it's the best western food in Alhambra. I always love their shrimp and chicken jambalaya and my friend loves the braised beef rib. The salmon was perfectly seared and was moist on the inside. The mix of sautéed red onions, cherry tomatoes, Parmesan potatoes and the bed of white rice accompanied the salmon perfectly. The tomato Asiago sauce was a amazing and brought the dish together. I am a big guy and the plate left me quite full. The price point might seem a bit high however, once you taste the quality of the ingredients you will quickly find out that you are actually getting a bargain. I came in with no expectations and left very satisfied! As always, super happy that this place has been open especially in the times of Covid-19. Also, I'm happy that they updated their hours! My parents and I picked up the salmon mango salad, braised beef short rib, and the cajun seafood pasta. The salmon mango salad was unique for me since I don't typically have salads with mango in them, but I enjoyed the flavor combinations of the sweet mango and the savory salmon. I tried a little bit of the cajun seafood pasta, but my dad had most of it so all I could say is that it was really filling. I had the braised beef short rib and I enjoyed it all and it was probably the best out of all of them. The short ribs were cooked to perfection and the mixture of what I think is black pepper sauce with the rice was incredibly satisfying. Along with the grilled vegetables, made this dish my favorite. All in all, I really enjoyed my covid takeout experience with sage bistro. It was very quick and took about 20 minutes from ordering to pick up. Many years from now, my children will sit with their grandkids, and tell the story of how back in 2020, the world came to a grinding halt. Schools closed. Businesses, beaches, movie theatres, hiking trails, and bowling alleys shuttered. They'll share how they stayed home for weeks, stopped going to gymnastics and Boy Scouts and Little League and swimming and piano. And we all stayed home, doing our best to keep doing school at our dining room table, and Little League baseball in the front yard, and setting up a tent on the back yard grass to Fake camp. We baked, and we cooked more than ever, we spent more time together in just a few months than we had in the previous few years. But still, there was some grace in supporting our local restaurants that did their best to stay open, even if only through takeout and delivery. Sage Bistro is one of those neighbors to us; Plus, they have a great fusion menu... even better, I did not have to cook! We ordered several plates... a couple more than there were people in our house, and shared them family style. The salmon bruschetta was a great appetizer, and I particularly enjoyed the pork chop that was melt in your mouth soft and delicious. The kids enjoyed Sage bistro's take on macaroni and cheese. Everything was very tasty, and despite the fact that things were "plated" in paper to go containers, you can hardly hold that against a place that was forced to shut down without an end in sight. The duck breast and the braised beef rib melted in my mouth. The shrimp was tender and the mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy. Each dish seemed relatively simple yet the flavors and textures were perfect. To anyone reading this review who is on the fence about Sage, please give them a try. The bistro is run by a husband-and-wife team who are both so sweet and funny. Their amazing food and friendly service deserve so much praise. Ordered the Chicken farfalle pasta and the braised short rib. The braised short rib was a 10/10 forsure!! I almost was tempted to lick the plate after haha. The short rib was so tender I legit could pull it apart with a spoon. Guaranteed ordering it again when I return. The pasta was also great, similar to the Cheesecake Factory pasta but probably 100 times better. Each bite was so flavorful, but not too rich it was great. Mixing the short rib and pasta was also a mouthful of greatness. Service was great and it seemed like they knew most of their customers on a first name basis. It was beyond good, and I especially enjoyed the sundried tomato flavor and marsala sauce which was rich and creamy. My friend ordered the stuffed chicken dish which was a honey orange glazed chicken breast stuffed with spinach, herb feta cheese, sundried tomatoes, and mushrooms. It was pretty good. She also ordered a side of butternut squash soup which I loved. Service was super friendly. Note: This place is on Main Street in Alhambra so it's mainly street parking.
