I am Indian, and this is by far the best I dian food restaurant I've tried in the US. The food tastes like Indian home cooking and is made carefully with quality ingredients. The balance of spices and flavors will sweep you away into the home of an Indian auntie who made this delicious meal lovingly just for you! Great for gluten allergies. Also good for nut and dairy allergies. Many meat and vegetarian options! Highly highly recommend.

Mango Lassi so delicious

We had dinner here a day ago and couldn't be happier we found this location. I can honestly say it was the best Indian food I have ever had, we ordered the goat curry which was soooo delicious and some naan with gravy. We also had a fish curry that was so flavorful. The owner was amazing as well and all of her recipes are her own family recipes. Please go support

Disappointing. Lamb Vindaloo: tiny cubes of lamb (like 1/2") and way too much vinegar in the sauce. Asked for it at a spice level of 7 (out of 10) when she asked me -and it was maybe a 4. But we're from TX and can take some spice.... Lamb Saag: again, tiny cubes of lamb, but the saag was nice with a good consistency and flavor. I asked for a spice level of 5 and it was about a 3. Vegetable Korma: weird consistency, unidentifiable veggies and it was too sweet. The sauce is typically made with cashews and coconut- this one was made with pineapple. It was yuck. Garlic naan: burnt on the bottom with not much garlic and it didn't taste fresh- it tasted pre-made. Value: with the tip it cost like $75, and while the portions were decent size and they were generous with the rice- the lamb was skimpy and the meal wasn't very good. I wish I hadn't spent that much on it. I don't like to leave bad reviews. Maybe the recipes are from a different area of India than I'm accustomed to, or maybe the chef was being creative with his sauces. The owners were very nice and I like to support local businesses. Lots of people on here seem to love this place, so maybe it's just a regional taste thing. Maybe it's someone else's favorite Indian restaurant, but it's definitely not mine. Unfortunately I won't be returning.

Chicken Shahi Korma Very different from what I'm used to

My husband and I both got tikka masala dishes. He got chicken and I got the shrimp. In hindsight I wish I had tried the Saag just so we could have tasted a different sauce. However, the tikka masala was truly the best we've ever had. And we are always chasing excellent food so we've had our share. The dumplings were great but we would likely opt for a different appetizer as they didn't really blow us away. The service though is really what puts this place over the top. We were in a bit of a time crunch so I'm disappointed we couldn't stay longer and try dessert so we will definitely be back when we can make it down to SoNo again.

For food, I started with the lentil soup and dumpling (momo) combo. The lentil soup was decent, but the momos were a bit disappointing. They lacked the flavor and juiciness I was expecting, and didn't really stand out. I also tried the chicken curry, which was okay--nothing particularly memorable, but not bad either. One thing I noticed is that the menu and flavors felt more similar to Indian cuisine than authentic Nepalese food. While that's not necessarily a bad thing, it didn't quite deliver the distinct experience I was hoping for. Overall, it's a nice place in terms of atmosphere and service, but the food didn't fully impress me.

I have travelled to many states in the USA & always visit Indian restaurants. Many being much better these days than 20 years ago, & a lot of them still under performing with the quality. I much prefer the authentic flavor & gravitate towards the Northern Indian style. Vedas, on Westport Ave, Norwalk, is the place to go to get that food satisfaction. I must say, their food is excellent quality. Fantastic flavor, fantastic portions & fantastic service. Orders to go is recommended, as very limited eat in space. Be very careful though, as their food is extremely addictive. I felt that i had to write this review, as i do want other curry lovers to not be missing out on this brilliant experience. I ordered paneer biryani and it had nothing but sweet and bland colored paneer with rice. The onions were not even cooked forget caramelized. There was no salan or raita to go with it also (how can you send biryani without one of these, so dry) The malai kofta had overcooked kofta's and undercook gravy (again onions were raw). Had to throw it out. I never write reviews but this was so bad that i had to take the effort and warn you guys about the overpriced and horrible food. The ambiance is classy and comfortable, a polished dining room that still feels warm and welcoming, perfect for date night or a special meal with friends. The service was outstanding: attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, with staff who guided us through the menu and checked in at just the right times. We have eaten here before, and on every occasion we were very happy with the food, but on this latest visit after the management change, it was not good. The appetizers were good, not spectacular, but good, the naan was par (but you really need to work hard to screw up naan), but the main courses were really not good especially when you consider the price. My girlfriend had Chicken Tikka Masala, and while the taste was ok, there were a whopping 5 pieces of Chicken in it - at $20. I got the 1/2 Tandoori chicken. 1 - there was very little Tandoori paste on the chicken. 2 - the outside was not seared as it should be for Tandoori chicken. 3 - their idea of a 1/2 chicken was 2 leg / thigh combos, and small ones at that. Again - for $20. The only thing they have going for them is that the staff is very nice and attentive.
