Saffron Grill opened here a month ago where Plucked Chicken & Beer once roosted. Now transformed into a AUCE Indian buffet by day and a diner at night. Was opened 1/2 hour early on Sunday. Attracted. By 15% off 21.99 regular price. Deal ends 6/17/26. Surprised by large variety of fresh tasty edibles. Many seldom seen on buffets Decor looks semi-luxurious. Instrumental/vocal Indian music in background. Items served: Fresh fruits, salads, Dahl, ....aloo, freshly made naan, vegetable pakora, vegetable noodle (would skip), goat curry, butter chicken, chili chicken, Methi paneer, subz tikka (very tasty), saffron rice etc. Punjabi tikka chicken/fish (excellent): marinated in yogurt & mustard oil, cooked in clay oven. Strawberry lassi-fresh strawberries, milk... too sweet for me. Kids will love it. Chai unsweetened. Great for Me. Litchi penna cotta: fabulous semi sweet lychee flavored gelatin. Semolina/gajar ka halwa: fabulous semi sweet pudding dessert. 5 stars: self service. Clean serving area. Quantity/Quality: very good to excellent.

Had a great dinner for 2 at Saffron Grill (2 doors down from Pho Hoa off Crow Canyon Road). It's a bright, tastefully-decorated restaurant, with well-spaced tables. And the food was fresh and well-prepared and tasty. Full disclosure - I'm not of Indian descent, although I do dine at a lot of South Asian restaurants. Started with the Tandoori Cauliflower, which came on a sizzling platter with 2 dipping sauces - basil and chutney, I believe. It was a great presentation of cauliflower - a bit spicy and very flavorful, with a good crunch to the vegetable. Next we had the Kadhai Chicken. The sauce was thicker and not gravy-like, but it had great spices and vegetable flavors. As advertised, it was thigh meat which was very moist. I asked that they make it less spicy than normal and it was not spicy at all; I would probably have it as intended next time. We also had the Yellow Dal Palak, which was traditionally prepared, and the spinach was a nice touch. It was tasty, and not spicy. Finally, we had an order of the Plain Naan, which came with four quarter pieces and was fine. The service was outstanding, and the server and host were very warm and helpful. Although the restaurant is relatively new, I don't think they missed any beats in serving the food. We dined on a Wednesday night around 8, and there were about 5 parties eating total. A few deets - the room is large and I believe they could accommodate a large group by putting tables together. Payment was traditional - your credit card is processed up front and you sign the ticket after adding your tip. There is ample parking in the adjoining shared parking lot. And, less I forget, they are offering a 15% Grand Opening discount. Recommended!

We originally stopped by to try the new Saffron Grill for Indian lunch. It turns out its lunch buffet only and many of the items were stews and fried items. Smells great, but my wife didn't find anything to her liking. So we walked out after they seated us with water. I felt bad so I used Doordash to get ala carte dinner. They have a much braider menu for dinner including some of my favorites: Methi Malai Chicken - Walnut cream and fenugreek sauce over juicy chicken thighs. One of my favorites Indian preparations of chicken, and its not that common IMHO. Almost French-like with its rich, earthly flavors. 5 stars. Tandoori Chicken - Four bone-on dark meat pieces. Beware, as some parts were undercooked. Nuke in microwave for 3 min on High. Good flavors after microwave, but a ding for the initial undercooked chicken. 3 stars. Saag Paneer - Excellent. Much smoother than other Indian places and the spice level is just right for me. 5 stars. Overall, a promising new Indian place, but only for ala carte dinner. Buffets these days actually are a crap shoot. Always check bone-in Tandoori chicken, since in our experience its more likely undercooked rather than overcooked.

Enjoyed the food we picked up from Saffron Grill. Talked to the owner, Sonia who was very nice and gave me some good recommendations. We tried their Amritsari fish which was tasty and surprisingly not oily at all. Then we tried the chicken trio, each variety was different, succulent and moist. The third thing we tried was the goat curry which was also very good. Next time we will eat in at the restaurant. Please give this place a try, we surely will be back.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon for their weekend buffet. It was $21.99 per person with a 15% off promotion. My daughter and I walked in at 2:30pm and were surprised that we were the only customers. As this is a new business and it was 30-minutes from closing, I guess this is understandable. The food and service was great. This business fills a nice little spot in the community, will visit again for sure.

Saw someone posted about this new Indian restaurant in San Ramon and about their weekend buffet for me interested. Even their facebook postings look pretty good overall, might try a weekday lunch over there sooner than later. Anyways, I stopped by Sunday afternoon to be honest I was sort of surprised they opened later than a lot of other places..but they opened at 12 and I got there around 1pm. I was honestly kinda of surprised that I was the first person there, luckily after a showed up a few other groups came in and a few ate there while a few other groups glanced at the offerings and declined. The place itself was very clean and neat and the decor was very nice and imo bordering on the higher end look or appeal. The buffet offerings were decent to slightly above average but admittedly imo was also kinda of small in terms of variety. The food itself overall was very good, none of the food was overly spicy nor salty when I was eating it. The pepper chicken was more of an indo-Asian fusion and wasn't what I've had at other Indian restaurants, so it was definitely as nice change of pace here. The veggie offerings were all very good and flavorful and I was also kinda of surprised that they were offering Thai peppers raw to add more heat to your meals. I had to ask just to make sure and to see if it was a smaller version of Serrano peppers which I've seen more often around Indian buffets. Other stands outs were the fish which I thought was pretty good and the goat curry which always seems to be a solid choice if you don't mind eating goat. The mango lasse was a nice offering here too which o normally don't see it for free at a buffet. Besides this the server and waiters were all very friendly and were quick to take my empty plates and refill my water. Definitely recommend this place if you are in the area at least for the weekend buffet. Will probably update if or when I try their lunch offerings.

As a regular of 10 years at Frontier Spice in Pleasanton, when I found out they shifted in San Ramon, I just had to visit. You are welcomed by friendly staff and a comforting atmosphere! We ordered many items but some of our favorites were the trio of chicken, Ginger Brulee, & masala lamb chops! The strawberry lassi was so refreshing for the hot day. Kudos to the amazing chefs! They had so many tempting options that we could not try all at once but we will definitely be coming back!

We were way late for our dinner reservation but the manager, Aman(?!) was warm and welcoming. The bartender (name?) also doubled as a server. Very helpful with our cocktail orders. Extensive bar. After years, I was served my straight single malt in a chilled glass. Without having to ask! The server, William, is one of the best trained servers that I have come across. Ever. Thoughtful. Efficient. Attentive but not intrusive. (What's a guy like him doing in a place like this! ) The chef (name?) sent each dish out looking elegant. There were six of us, so we had three appetizers, four entrees and a dessert. Impressive plating! He visited us at the table to ensure everyone was happy. As you may know from my reviews, the experience is more important to me than the food. Given that this is a "mall restaurant!," I was blown away! Inside was basically empty, only like 3 tables. Service was pretty messy and kind of inattentive overall--didn't feel very welcoming. Food-wise, I won't go into details, but portions were really small... mostly sauce, not much actual food. Overall just not a place we'd go back to.

When I asked the restaurant staff, they mentioned that they are now serving Jain sambar by default instead of the original South Indian sambar, which I believe is now referred to as Ratna Cafe sambar. For me, the main reason to come here was always the dosa with that authentic South Indian sambar. Without it, the experience just does not feel the same anymore. To be fair, the staff did give me the Ratna Cafe sambar when I asked, and that tasted like what I remembered. But I was told this change was a management decision. I am not sure whether this was done for cost reasons or to appeal to a different audience, but as a customer who came here specifically for the traditional dosa and sambar experience, it was a huge disappointment. The dosas are also not cheap, and at that price, I expect to enjoy the full meal. Unfortunately, I do not feel it is worth paying a premium for dosa when the default sambar is not something I enjoy. I have had better sambar at other restaurants, but that is not what I came to Mylapore Express for. I am sad to say this may be my last visit here specifically for dosa and sambar. This restaurant had a strong reputation with me, but this change has really taken away the main reason I used to like it.
