JSafeway I reviewed them 2 years ago.And basically , things are the same. They have a great bakery and lots of choices of pastries, cakes,torts and bread. They have a diverse collection of domestic and imported wines, beers, soft drinks, health drinks, and spirits. They have wonderful selections of single beers, health drinks, and soft drinks. Their rye whiskey, bourbon scotch, gins, and vodka have depth and quality. One thing I always look for in a grocery store is it clean? the store was very clean. The other thing is the staff, the staff were very friendly and helpful . I would recommend getting the VIP card that gives you a discount when you scan some of your items. They were working on making sure everything looked well stocked and orderly. The vegetables seem to be plentiful and for a typical family grocery store that seemed like they had a fair selection of organic items. They also had grass-fed beef and bacon that was uncured. They also have some individually prepped items which are good for a senior that may want to not have to prepare everything. They even have some Frozen organic items which were particularly of interest to me. They had the typical selection of soda pop but with the added twist of having individual sodas available that were made with cane sugar that I enjoy. I've been when it's been crowded and not crowded and the line through the checkout area has always been fast. It's a complete grocery store with about everything that you could want./ read more

I did a big shopping here recently. The variety is great. Prices are good if you buy selectively and use their digital coupons. On the minus side, clipping the digital coupons one at a time is time-consuming and tedious. Also, one item was on sale but rang up at the regular price, so I had to go to customer service to get a refund on the difference. read more

Visited the Safeway on Ina & Oracle in Tucson. One. One. One One cashier. For a supermarket. For a supermarket. Absurd. Yes, it's great that the store is clean & pleasant, and the employees are friendly and speak English, but that's supposed to be normal. What good is it if it takes you 3x's longer to check out? Even a 7-11 has two cashiers but one for a Safeway?? Great that you can do someone else's work (for no discount) at the self-checkout (monitored by an employee standing there doing almost nothing) but customers are already paying high prices. Floral review! If you didn't know this..... Safeway carries a decent selection of flowers. Of course, it varies from store to store. I stopped by this one to checkout their rose selection and get some balloons for my father in law. I was pleasantly surprised to see so many bright colors (shades of pink, orange, yellow) and they were are very fresh! The roses are not very fragrant but they lasted well well over a week. The safeway on Swan and Sunrise also has a nice floral department! read more

This store is crap on a platter. I have had several orders from this store. Both have been completed by my Instacart shopper. This is the second time this store has screwed me. The first time they sold prepackaged meat that was a week out of date. Of course I had to throw it away. This time I learn that the store sets the prices on their items on Instacart platform. For instance sweet rolls marked for 3.59 on Instacart. Then when delivered it is marked 2.99, not 3.59 but the store charged me the 3.59 not even what the item was marked for 2.99. To me they go out of their way to harm the consumer on price and product. It's very sad that cheating customers is their business model. Be very careful if you have to shop here they are thieves as is proven by their actions. read more

Se corner of ina oracle near cvs. I was put on hold by manager looking in back room fir 15 minutes to substitute same product but in 2 different packages instead of one. As if we weren't inconvenienced enough by buying an overcooked emaciated rotisserie chicken made in there deli and placed out to sell without time indicated on the package, the manager insisted we drive back to the store to return the chicken for a $8.48 refund. LOL Look at this chicken! read more

So this has been my go to grocery store since moving right of Oracle and orange grove. I've never had a problem. They usually have pretty good chip sales, at least for you know Cheetos and stuff and I've never had a problem with this store until this morning. I went and got about $300 worth of groceries last night (I paid only about $200 after discounts and coupons) Since it was night time, only the self checkouts were open and I went to put all my cash in the machine at once when it only takes one bill out of time and I dropped $20 on the ground. I realized about 20 minutes after I got home when I was doing the budget and saw that we're going to be $20 short so I called the store and I can't remember his name (... I wanna say Ray so he can get his props but not entirely sure) but he was super friendly at the store and on the phone he had actually found my $20 and turned it in. He told me I could come get it that night. It was about 20 minutes before closing and since I live a mile away, I was right there. Well I guess the manager, Byron, had left early with the key to the safe so I couldn't get my $20 back last night -- as a closing manager at my work i know you're not supposed to close the registers and safe until AFTER closing... But everyone remembered me and there wasn't supposed to be an issue getting my money back. Well, I show up this morning and Byron says that he won't give me my money back without a receipt which makes no sense because it fell out of my wallet. I ask him to check the security camera footage, but no he makes me go back home to get the receipt cuz he doesn't know my integrity or something like that. Anyways I come back -- I told him I was gonna be right back btw -- and I get to stand at the customer service desk for 10/15 minutes before finally Byron comes out from the back room and runs off somewhere else telling me he'll be right back. when he does finally decide to come back He looks at my receipt and almost doesn't give me my money because he said that it doesn't show I got cash back... because I didn't. It's my own personal money that fell out of my wallet, and he just kind of huffed & puffed and finally gave it back to me, but it was really an inconvenient experience and I expected more from them especially after how friendly and helpful everyone was last night. I asked him multiple times to just look at the self check out cameras but he wouldn't. I ended up driving back to Safeway three times to get my money that I worked hard for and I accidentally dropped. As much as I used to like the store, I think I'm gonna try to find a new grocery store because this really was just such a bad experience with Bryon for me. I will note though that Emily did help me at the checkout last night, and she was awesome! read more

Even though my last experience at this store was not good, I decided to stop here because this store is convenient. I want to give a SHOUT OUT TO SHARON, who did an incredible job this morning. Sharon greeted me with a big smile and even came around to my cart to scan my large items. Wow!! That has never happened to me at a Safeway store, ever!! Bought fish for dinner, got home and it was rancid. Returned next morning about 7am with package and receipt. Was rudely told by cashier Joe , "Customer service is closed come back later". Don't think so "Joe!". Left ammonia smelling package on cs desk and left. Returned later in day, received due refund, was told "Joe" the cashier could have completed the refund. I would like to thank Starbucks inside the Safeway store at Ina and Oracle Roads in Tucson, Arizona, for honoring our Vets on Veterans Day. I received a free cup of coffee from Elizabeth that works at the Starbucks inside Safeway. I enlisted in the Army in 1965 two years after I graduated from high school and served from 1965 to 1971. The service helped me with my profession as a newspaper photographer I spent fifty-plus years with several newspapers. I was also elected President of the Pennsylvania Press Photographers Association and later was elected Associate Director of the National Press Photographers Association. I told Elizabeth that I would do the survey and decided to write a review on YELP. I asked for a Christmas Blend and she said she would do a pour-over. If you're Mexican or of color beware coming to this store. It's always the same old white women who work there that will STARE you down at self checkout and ignore all the white people. Every. Single. Time. I even once entered a veggie item through the search option in which this old white lady proceeded to tell me I entered it under the wrong name (it was a tomatillo but they have it under 'green tomato') and then grabbed the veggie from me and started typing on our screen only to find out WE had it right. They will watch you like a HAWK. Lol so ya. Very annoying and obvious. read more

I know all the Safeway stores are under a transition after being acquired by Albertsons, but this store no longer warrants 5 stars due to the continued WiFi issue and inadequate staffing as noted by another Yelper. The current store manager falls far short of Tony, who was the manager for years until transferring to a store closer to where he wanted to be around a year ago. I'll try to be patient during the period the two chains merge, but will keep an eye on the changes, positive and negative. read more

Very rude cashier and service. I went in and gathered $48 dollars worth of groceries. Unfortunately, my debit card has to be put in manually. I am waiting for a new one but have not had a problem with this until now. I informed her it had to be put in manually, and she said it is store policy that they don't do that. I asked if I could take my things up to customer service so they could help me, and she said no. So I pushed my cart aside and began to walk away. As I was walking away, the cashier started laughing and told her co-workers the cart was all go backs. I di not think this is a laughing matter. I am embarrassed as it is. I called the store as I was leaving and spoke to a customer service agent who informed me yes, they could help me at customer service. I explained she needed to educate her cashiers because I was turned away completely, and I did ask to go over to customer service but was told I couldn't. I love this store from Carrie at the Starbucks to Maria in the bakery or deli. So clean and always friendly and professional.

Horrible store. Long lines to pick up pharmacy due to staffing and scheduling problems. Stock is always short. If item sells out it will be a long time before it's reordered. Today, the entire store's cashier computer systems shut down. No one could purchase anything. This store is completely mismanaged. Go elsewhere if you can. read more

Got to the front with a grocery cart heaving full with items only to find out I had to check my own groceries out. This was about 8:15pm on Thursday. I walked up to someone standing at a cash register and asked if there were any checkers and just got a barely audible and snarky "no" thru her mask. I wouldn't care if it was a few things but it wasn't. I felt like walking away and leaving everything. This is so sad what's become of things. Notice the 2 1/2 star overall rating. There's a reason for that. They don't do their job. Their lazy. The good reviews are probably from their managers. Oh btw they just happen to be hiring all the time. I spent an entire month in and out of the store. The managers, employees, store director ALL don't know how to do their job! The grocery delivery program is loosely and poorly structured. I placed an order to be delivered between 1-2. 18 hours later, still waiting. They blamed it on a plethora of things but how does no one ever notice that the food is still sitting there. The whole point of using this service is to lower stress and to be honest , it tripled my stress since I spent hours beyond hours trying to get this resolved. The only thing that was smooth sailing was Safeway taking my money. At one point, I finally just asked that my money be refunded and was told only a manager can refund on this type of purchase and that there wasn't a manager on duty. I was instructed to call back in the morning which I did. The store manager of the store named Susan didn't seem interested in knowing about a problem in her a store, instead she kept brushing me off and saying I needed speak to the department manager. Lucas, the department manager offered an array of excuses and stated he had refunded me, stressing it was for the full amount, but why would it not be. However, he says it takes 3 days to show up on my account. Consequently, I've had to add this chore to my list of things to do, so much for lowering my stress. read more

This store has many downfalls and one of them is consistently running out of stuff for extended periods of time. The self check out would be nice except for some of the cashiers/managers that are running it. Tonight a lady I have never seen rudely yelled, "you need to get your keys and phone off the scale." Mind you I didn't have my keys or phone on the scale because I have some degree of common sense, but they were to the side of the scanner so that I could scan my items with both hands and not be slow like a turtle. I said they are not on the scale they are to the side, and she proceeded to tell me that it still mattered. She probably just didn't want to clean it because when I got up there I saw a little bit of cilantro on the scanner which means it wasn't cleaned properly. Her approach was incredibly aggressive and it made me want to leave my stuff and go somewhere else. Don't set your items to the side of self scanner or you may get an earful! Ugh read more

Floral Dept. review: David was amazing! He gave me great advice on choosing arrangements for my husband's Memorial Mass and had me pick colors from a variety of ribbon colors. He had them ready when promised and helped get them to the car. I was delighted with the arrangements, but also with the freshness of the flowers. They lasted more than a week and almost all of the gladiolas bloomed within that time. I would definitely revisit this store just for the flowers and David's artistic talents. read more

I come to this Safeway when I'm on my way home for the east side. I much prefer this location to the one in Rancho Vistoso that is a stone throw away from my house. The cashiers and baggers are prompt and friendly, the shelves are well stocked, and best of all, I'm in and out of here in no time. Wish I could say the same of Fry's. read more

This is a newly renovated safeway. It is a good, but not great, grocery store. There is nothing special about this Safeway -- if you've been to a new Safeway in a major city -- it's just been recently updated to that style. They are consistently out of popular items, crowded, there's not enough space and some sections are quite disorganized. Everyone who goes here is snobby so don't expect much if you feel like talking to somebody in line, since you'll definitely be waiting in one. read more

This 1 Star is for there Starbucks inside yesterday I went there to get a coffee got to my car and tasted it they forgot to add flavor, so basically I got a iced coffee with cream! Yuck I went back in and asked for them to remake it and Ad flavor that I had paid for..the woman at counter informed me they were not A real Starbucks and she did not have to remake drink! Instead of being Nice and apologizing for there mistake she began to tell me that I had drank half of it and it basically wasn't her problem it wasn't made correctly! Great customer service I will Never ever buy another Coffee from your Business again...which is sad because I was a regular that spent an Average of 6.00 a day on there coffee Never Again!!!! Walked in to grab a few things this morning. Noticed only 1 register (express lane) was open as per usual at this location and store chain. There were even people with carts full in a 15 item or less "express" lane. Immediately walked back out. I've only seen at most 2 registers open here at any given time. It's so slow and miserable. This has been my neighborhood market for many years. I love these guys. They renovated a few years back and it really gave the place a more homey look. the cashiers are all nice and polite. The butcher shop is outstanding. I'm not a big fan of the bakery or the deli, but kudos goes out to this Safeway. Especially with what they went through Jan 2011. read more

I have been going to this store for about 10 years now, but will not return. The last 5 trips have each had a problem and they just don't care. From buying expired salad dressing (dated October), not giving me all my bags, incorrect pricing, the bakery "expert" trying to tell me that pita bread was the same as sandwich thins--after waiting for 10 minutes and 3 calls for them to help. Customer service and mangers don't care. There are too many other grocers in the area-- Sprouts, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods and Walmart neighborhood market to waste your time here! read more

What a nice big beautiful grocery store. I was visiting my sister in Tucson, we needed a few things for dinner and this is where she shops. She says everyone is so friendly. This is the store where the horrible shooting occurred this winter. It was very sad to walk right where everyone was standing. I would suggest paying a visit to support this nice store and remember those who lost their lives or were hurt that horrible day in January. read more
