First things first: this review is not about the employees. They are all awesome and this store is my go-to Albertsons. This review is for corporate. Albertsons corporate offices clearly have not spent much time in the stores judging by the decisions they make. For example. Today I did some light shopping but big enough to need a cart. When I go to check out there is only one cashier lane open (as usual, even though they need more) and the line was full of several people with large quantities in their cart. So I go to the self check even though it pains me knowing self check just means one more person without employment. Anyway they now have these massive bins holding sale items smack in the middle of the tiny self check square. Total nightmare! If you have a cart you are unable to pass to exit since other people are at a kiosk checking out and there's zero room between them and the sale bins. It is one big traffic jam and the poor employees are forced to move people around while they're trying to check out just to keep the line moving. There was so little space that I am fairly confident this is not ADA compliant. I truly think Albertsons corporate believes that only people with small items and no cart go to self check. If you only employ one cashier however, this is not the case. Especially on a busy weekend. I will never understand forcing your customers to be employees and not paying or even trusting them but that's a whole other topic. Every customer and every employee was frustrated and complaining about these stupid sale bins. It does not take a genius to know this was a bad idea. Remove the bins! read more

I've lived near this store for years, and full disclosure, we used to call it "Grossertsons". For that reason, we avoided it for a long time. BUT! Sometime within my absence, they've really upgraded! The store now has a Starbucks, a really gorgeous produce section, and a nice clean layout! And I love that the aisles are named after the streets in the adjoining neighborhoods! Even the weird old "grocery store" smell is gone. The staff is always friendly and I can find what I need. I eat a vegan, plant-based diet. And like any big box store, Albertsons tends to be a little more expensive on specialty vegan items - however, they have them. And they're available when you're in a pinch! read more

I usually don't think to review grocery stores but decided why not? I frequent this location often as it is close to my kids school and now my work. It used to be sad and dumpy. They did a major remodel last year. The store is clean and refreshed looking. The staff I've encountered have all be helpful and friendly. Love that they have the self check out and have a lot of them so if it's busy, they wait isn't too long. read more

Some of the dumbest employees I've ever experienced at a grocery store. Literally every time I've come here there has been some issue. Being charged for items I didn't get, sales not working because the cashier messed something up. Then when you come in for it to be fixed, they act like you're crazy for being upset. In desperate need of caffeine I went to the Starbucks inside. I met a wonderful barista named Tim! He was so nice and kind and friendly. Every minute of our interaction was pleasant and professional. I really like this Albertsons. Is it because it is the first Albertsons I have ever been to? Maybe. Am I biased because I can easily bike or walk here? Also possible. Either way, every time I walk in there is always an amazing sale going on. I got four cases of seltzer water for $9! The selection here is what one would expect of a neighborhood grocery store with all the standard departments such as floral, seafood, deli and more. We arrived for our pickup order and so we called to check in. The lady told us that we had to go inside and "get it ourselves" and hung up on us while we were in mid-sentence... when we got down she continued to treat us in a bad manner. We went to the customer service desk to see where we could pick up our order and she yelled "not hear!" Then she pointed to a black door that said "restricted access" and yelled at us to pick it up there. How were we supposed to know to pickup our order at a restricted access door?? Our understanding (along with the app's instructions) is that for pickup, they load the groceries in the car for us. We both had the flu and felt uncomfortable getting off for reasons concerning us and their customers. The service is extremely rude for no reason. We had let it go and still talked to her in a kindly matter but she was still extremely rude with a bad attitude. Our experience was very poor. We will not be returning. read more

I have extreme back problems. My doctor ordered a pain killer the pharmacist refused to fill because she thought it was to much. Just to hold me over till surgery. I had the doctors office call to verify the prescription (osco said they couldn't get hold of them) and she still refused. I had to get my Doctor call it in to Walgreens to get it filled. witnessed an elderly woman hobbling w her cart, clearly in pain. With the way the displays are set up, it blocked her & her cart up against the refrig w milk. A +25 yr old man was standing by refrig chatting on phone looking at milk moving cartons around. the elderly woman politely said excuse me looked up at yelled "quit being lazy and go around". she just stood there, not sure if she didnt physically have ability to back up but she just stood there. i found myself standing there too... in disbelief. he just kept making rude remarks. i had enough walked up and i was BLOWN AWAY... This location employs a loss prevention associate who I saw physically confront/ assault a man who she deemed to be stealing. I saw her throw a container of potato salad at this man as he was exiting the store and she continued acting aggressively towards him just outside the store. I reported it to the manager on duty who said she thought the associate had just knocked it out of his hands and that is how she is supposed to respond. I said I didn't think she was being appropriate and was leaving to my car when the associate yelled at me from across the parking lot and started being confrontational with me until I walked away. read more

This store has improved significantly since my freshman year of college (3yrs ago) it's now my grocery shopping stop! They have a wide range of fresh products from their bakery, sushi counter, and deli counter! I love their cheese and cracker section. I guess since I'm the current Yelp Duke with most check-ins of this Albertson's, it's time that I wrote a review. There are quite a few people, it seems that have had a bad experience and do not like shopping here. I'm not one of them. Judging by some of the complaints (store dirty, small selection, rude employees, safety issues of the location) I think that some of the reviews are old and perhaps it depends on the time of day that you shop. My usual time to shop is on Saturday late evenings. Not so many people shopping then. I shop Saturdays because that's when I can get my U of A 10% student discount. That's on top of all the other sale prices. Icing on the cake. We are so regular there over the last three years, the evening shift of cashiers know us and if we happen to catch them at an earlier part of their shift or on a different day, they always remark how strange it is to see us at that time. And it's the same for me: if I shop on a different time/day, it just isn't the same as I don't see my regular cashiers. I think the cashiers for when I shop are tops. They are friendly, respectful, and efficient.Cisco, Katie, and the others make it a pleasure to shop there. (As a side note, Katie wears sunglasses because of an eye impairment that makes her sensitive to florescent lights.) The only person weird in my book at Albertson's is the manager. In the first year we shopped there, we were so impressed by the store's employees that I wrote a letter as such and was very complimentary of the store. Next time we came to shop, I personally handed the letter to her. She thought I was weird or the letter was weird or something. She even was my cashier at checkout and she didn't even mention the letter. Strange. I don't find the store to be dirty. True, it is not a new, modern store, but it is clean. My picky wife would not shop there otherwise. Yes, the meat department can be someone "fragrant" at times, but it is definitely not as strong as, say, Food City, or other Hispanic- or Asian-oriented groceries with a carneceria or large seafood case which are very strong smelling. It is nothing I would not expect to smell at a grocery. Even though I am there shopping anytime between 7:00 p.m and midnight (closing), I don't find any riff-raff in the parking lot or in the store. I have been there several times at different times of the day. I haven't seen what some of the others have talked about. It is located in a shopping center with plenty of people around. We find the prices to be competitive with others. Safeway and Fry's are both within a mile of my house and this Albertson's. They all have similar prices and we mostly shop the sales flyers. This store size is not huge, but it isn't small, either. Their produce selection has a large and sufficient selection with quality produce. Bakery section is small compared to more updated groceries, but sufficient. Meat department is fine. Everything else has a good selection. I'm not sure why there are complaints in previous reviews about their selection. It is fine by us with plenty of brands and a variety of selections. I like the convenience of the location, finding everything that we need, saving money, and the friendship of the regular cashiers at this store. I would recommend it to anyone. read more

Something is up with the produce at Albertsons. This is after multiple trips and conversations with people. For example the raspberries look fine but are moldy tasting and the bananas are crunchy even though the outsides are brown. Very strange and unsettling. For the price Fry's is just as good and does not have this issue. Go to Fry's or Safeway- trust me. I feel like the produce is messed with in some way. Truly off and unusual. Best store ever. I've been going here since the 70s. I absolutely love the pharmacy. Everything about the store is wonderful. Everything.

I make the effort to bring cloth bags but they don't make the effort to teach employees how to bag. My tomatoes and fruit on the bottom( and not in plastic bags on purpose for the environment) and they throw the potatoes and cans on top, then they can't fit the spinach bc they just threw the stuff in and now I'm repacking my own bag in my trunk and leaving their plastic bags in the cart I won't even get started on their new self serve registers. Why are people using those when they know people are losing their jobs to robots? I left Fry's for these reasons. Not such a neighborly grocery. read more

Moving to a new neighborhood meant I now had a new neighborhood grocery store. This place is less than a mile away from my new home, and since I'm all for saving gas, I gave this place a try. A short 5 minute drive brought me to the supermarket. The bakery marks down most of their remains once day turns into night. I don't think that 6 dollars for a dozen stale donuts is a worthy investment. Maybe the day-old bread is good, but that's something I wouldn't know. The dairy products require close examination to make sure they aren't expired. Macaroni and cheese is the staple for college students. I prefer white mac 'n cheese, and in fact will not eat the yellow variety. My old Safeway had two different types of white, Albertson's offers about four. Albertson's does not have good produce. For all things prepared and/or non-fresh I go out to eat. The only reason for a visit to the grocery store is for produce, and if they don't have good produce, why bother. More often than not, Albertson's will have kick-ass sales on fruit and veggies. Here you have a choice to make: save billions of cents and have poor quality freshness, or pay slightly higher prices and have amazing tasting freshness elsewhere, like at Safeway on Broadway. The check out guys are amusing. Whoever rings me up always makes some comment about my food choices. I bought hot dogs and ketchup for a sorority-get-together-BBQ, and the check out guy said "You're a ketchup girl? I like relish." Other memorable comments center around ice cream and clothing detergent. I called about their Rug Doctor and was given promising information. For 25 dollars, plus the cost of soap and a refundable deposit, I can get a carpet cleaner for 24 hours. read more

On the morning of October 29 I was fruit shopping at store 961. I decided on 3 fruit bowls. I saw the sign 3/ $ 12.99. I picked berry,strawberry grape and melon melody. During check out only the melon melody was part of the sale. The clerk was not interested in honoring the sale price. All he did was do a price check. The sign did not mention which bowls were and were not included. Albertson's has always been my go to store. I mentioned as I walked away I was going to contact the head office. Yeah, okay. It is not the best grocery in town. It is the epitome of convenience for me, being about 1/4 mile from my house. I have found them to be responsive to requests. They carry tahini because of me. Shannon W. is also right about the patchouli girl, except she is the nicest cashier there. All of the cashiers are really nice but equally quirky. They will make comments about your purchases. They are like low-rent versions of Trader Joe's cashiers. That being said, the place could get 5 stars just for the pharmacy. I have used this as my pharmacy since I moved here. They are all really nice back there and I have even had them do some clever insurance company billing maneuvers to save me some money. Yea!!!! I only shop here since its convenient for me (so is the Safeway on Campbell/Prince so I divide between the two.) the place is okay, and definitely serves my needs for many things, and they were really nice about giving me empty boxes when I was moving BUT it can take a long time to go through check-out even during quiet times of the day and I am NOT a fan of chit-chat with the cashiers - just shuddup, ring up my stuff, and let me get the heck outta the store! Also, the butcher area STINKS to holy heaven of meat turning bad so I avoid the area of store when I'm there. The few times I dealt with their pharmacy, which is decent (I normally deal with Walgreens) I dreaded it since it next to the meat dept. P.S. I can't believe this store is about 20 years old now! I live right in between Frys and this Albertsons. I find this store easy to shop in, easier and less crowded to park at. The store is always clean, the bakery dept is top notch. The Deli is great, the hot chicken and tenders are the best. Always good sales going on, the regular prices are good also, you can easily find paper towels or bath tissue on sale every few weeks, coupons run in the ad every month. I like the cashiers. FYI the Deli and Bakery are way better than Frys. Nice that they are central with banks, ACE, well all the stuff you find on Campbell Ave. They also have the BEST cakes of any of the bakeries in Tucson. This store is a little grimy. It is nicer than the Fry's in close proximity, but it is still icky. I come her because it is super convenient and the prices reflect that. I would rather drive the extra few minutes to Safeway, even Aj's and still get better prices. One of my gripes about this store is that no matter what time of day or night you go, there are never enough cashiers and finding someone to help you find something in their interestingly organized store takes longer than getting back into your car and driving somewhere else. The reason they get two stars instead of one, is they sell awesome fresh bacon thick cut and they also have fresh (but pricey) seafood. read more

Great location and selection. However, that does not make up for poor management and mis-priced goods. The "app" never charges the correct prices. If you don't monitor your receipt like a hawk, you will likely be overcharged. The store has eliminated the rapid checkout cashiers in favor of self-checkout, often creating long lines. read more

Been coming to this location for over a year now and today I have reached my limit with the behavior of their staff. Tonight while checking out of self checkout I had an error and needed the clerks help, patiently waiting as he avoids eye contact to help me I begin to raise my hand as Others are beginning to also receive errors and wanted to be sure he knew we had been waiting going on 5 minutes he then looks at me and yells I see you I ignore it as I know he's very busy and begin to explain what happened when we got the error, he then begins yelling at me to not interrupt. Me and my fiancé tell him there's no need to be rude which he then ignores us, we ask for his manager, then this man JAMES, lies to us saying he's the manager and come to find out he is not. All I have to say is don't return to this place unless you're Caucasian/heterosexual or you will definitely be discriminated against. The security has made homophobic comments to us, as well as witnessed another male employee who was blatantly racist towards a black man and refused him help. Idk who's in charge of hiring here but it seems most of the men employed here shouldn't be working with customers. read more
